Oh, Good Morning

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots β€˜N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Wow, it was tough getting out of bed this morning. My body is just exhausted. I hope that I’m not getting sick. :-?I rarely ever get sick, but when I do, it’s bad. Let’s hope it’s not that!

After struggling to get out of bed, I made the most delicious batch of “Instant” Baked Oatmeal with maple brown sugar oatmeal, carob soy milk, ground flaxseed meal, and Wild Berry Trail Mix. I topped my oatmeal with 2 scoops of Barney Butter. Sooo good!

I also had a glass of iced coffee with breakfast.

Feel Great Weight

My newest post on Health.com is a progress update about my Lose the Dough challenge. I write about overeating when I am alone at home. It’s been a struggle lately for me.

And, be sure to check out some of my favorite products: Canon Powershot S90 (works great in low lighting!), Garmin Forerunner 305, and, of course, the MyPressi Twist. My Sea-Life Plates are in there, too!

Question of the Day

Have you ever met a celebrity? If so, who was it and what were they like in person?

  1. I’ve met a few celebs, but nothing is more embarrassing than my Fred Durst story.

I was at Starbucks in Cranston, RI and he was sitting there with this girl I knew from my beach club. I went up to him and said, this sounds nuts but I SWEAR I know you from somewhere, did you play soccer with my brother? No? And asked like 10 questions like that. Finally, he mentioned I may think I know him from his band, Limp Bizkit. I was mortified.

  2. Never met anyone famous πŸ™ I totally overeat when I’m home alone. I think I rationalize it in my head like well if no one is home to see it it doesn’t count.

  3. I met Christian Slater at a meet and greet in London when he was performing in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, and I’ve gone to a couple meet and greets for Days of Our Lives fans and met some of the stars from that show! I even got a kiss on the cheek from “EJ” πŸ™‚

  4. In my senior year of high school I got to take a trip to L.A. to visit the set (and meet the cast!!) of Gilmore Girls. It was so. much. fun. I met the four main characters: Rory (Alexis Bledel), Lorelai (Lauren Graham), Dean (Jared Padelecki), and Luke (Scott Patterson). They were all really nice, but Scott went out of his way to make me feel at home while on set. He gave me the back of his director’s chair and even called my best friend who was also a fan of the show! To top it all off he sent me a handwritten letter afterward and called a few times to check in – he really went above and beyond for my Make-A-Wish dream and I will be forever grateful. πŸ™‚

  5. I met Bono many years ago while he was eating at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami, but to be honest I’m not really a U2 fan so it wasn’t very exciting! I also met Lil’ Bow Wow (when he was little) and saw Jamie Fox the other day on Michigan Avenue in Chicago at Nike Town. Yawn.

I’d prefer to meet Jennifer Aniston or another really fit celebrity- just to see how they look in real life though.

  6. i met Michael Phelps, and he was actually very rude. i was 16 and a competitive, year-round swimmer, so naturally he was a HUGE idol of mine. meeting him only to realize he was moody and not personable at all was a huge let down… i hope he’s gotten better at talking with his fans since then!

  7. I have met Lance Armstrong (I live in Austin so he is ALWAYS around) and he is a really nice guy. Very confident in his skills which I think makes him come across as a arrogant but I guess if I was THAT good in my sport I would be too! haha! πŸ™‚

  8. Jake Gyllenhaal. I was walking my dog one morning and he was out walking his dog too. I don’t normally stop to chat it up with celebs, but as we were passing one another my adorable miniature Australian Shepherd just started growling at Jake’s German Shepherd. Like totally out of nowhere. A major barkfest between the two dogs went down. Ever since then, my dog gets freaked out around German Shepherds.

  9. I’ve met both Carson Daly and Pauly Shore in bars in Los Angeles….of course Pauly was very funny. I was also buying cupcakes in a a store called “My Little Cupcake” in LA, and said hello to Allison Sweeney from the Biggest Loser.

  10. Hmm, no one REALLY crazy famous, but I’ve met Alton Brown from the Food Network, who was hilarious, and Leslie David Baker, who plays Stanley on The Office. He went to my old school and noticed me wearing their sweatshirt and talked to me about it and about studying abroad (in Italian!)! He was super nice.

  11. A question for you, although a bit off topic. I know you had a post recently where you posted your 3-minute cookie recipe and the variations you’ve made to it since then……but I can’t seem to find it. Can you point me int the right direction?

  12. Betty White. My family was puppy raisers and Betty White was doing a pre pilot and my daughter and her dog were selected to help Betty with this project. She is an amazing, amazing women. She even sent us a β€œhandwritten” note thanking us along with a video of my daughters segment. She is one classy woman. After our segment she took the time to let us all take pictures with her. It was a great experience for my daughter.

  13. I met Derek Jeter when the Yankees played an exhibition game at Virginia Tech. He’s been a huge crush of mine for years which actually made me speechless when I met him. Of course, afterwards I thought of tons of things I could have said :(……

  14. I met Bret Michaels (before Rock of Love) and the rest of Poison at Nobu 57 in NYC. since i’m a huge 80’s hair band fan, I lost it and went over to his table. he was really nice and jumped up from his dinner and took pictures with me. I posed with him like it was prom (my hand on his stomach, his arm around me. the guy has nice abs, let me tell you). Ricki Rocket also took pictures with me (he was rocking eye make up hard core). I then proceeded to call everyone I knew (who might care). It is now obvious to all how lame I am, huh? My dream is to meet Colin Farrell.

  15. Mostly the famous people I’ve met have been writers and comedians, not any major celebrity figures that I can think of. It’s so rare for the “big guns” to bother to fly out to Australia, so it’s unlikely I’ll ever see Hollywood celebs out and about!!

P.S. Hope you aren’t coming down with anything – but at least you got to decorate the cake in good health! πŸ™‚

  16. I met guys from the movie Superbad and some High School Musical people (Zac Efron, anyone?) in London. The Superbad guys were very much like their characters in the movie- hilarious and fun!

  17. love your article about eating when you are alone. i am SO guilty of this! being stuck at home a lot this week, due to the snowstorm that hit the east coast, i have over-indulged way too much! i usually just do not buy the items that i know i will eat more than i should of, however living with my boyfriend makes it hard because he wants lots of snacks, etc. in the house….i had to actually toss out the cupcakes left over from the superbowl! they were too tempting to have just sitting around! good tips!

  18. I’ve met a few Canadian singer-songwriters I love … one was Sarah Slean and she was so pretty in person (not that she isn’t when she’s not in person!), nice and silly. Just very cute! And I met Rufus Wainwright who was kind of melancholy, but down to earth. Other than that I remember seeing a weather TV anchor at a restaurant. He looked very mysterious and I was so excited – I was young, what can you expect? LOL! I’ve never met anyone really huge, though – how exciting would that be?

  19. I met James Marsters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and he was so nice! My friends an I went to Dragon Con in Atlanta. I also met Nathan Fillion (Firefly and Castle) and Michael Rossenbaum from Smallville.

  20. late on this . . . i met carson daly as well (he gets around i guess!) and even got to say a line on his mtv show (it was a placed question — i had to ask the creator of dawson’s creek, “so who is pacey going to get some from next?”). yeah i’m dating myself πŸ™‚

i also saw george clooney at a bar in williamstown when he was there for the theater festival, and i saw sara gilbert (from rosanne!) running in w-town for the theater fest as well.

loved reading all of the random celeb encounters!

  21. Living in Los Angeles, I run into celebrities a lot! It also helps that my husband works for one. πŸ™‚ Of the ones I’ve met, they’ve all been pretty nice!

And I can totally relate to overeating when I’m home alone! It’s such a bad habit!!!

  22. I met Brian Austin Green during all the 90210 craziness in the 90’s. He was nice. But there was so many girls there that it was hard to actually talk to him. So, I just got a picture of him and his autograph and left.

  23. I met country singer Joe Nichols soon after he became famous (he played at our county fair) and he was super sweet. He kept calling the kids and teens in the audience to come up in front of the stage (even after the cops kept telling us to sit back down), and, after the concert, he signed autographs, posed for pictures, and even gave my best friend a kiss on the cheek.

  24. I actually met Mel Gibson last year in Boston, when he was filming his new movie. I was at 75 Chestnut eating dinner, and he was sitting at the table right next to us. He was very nervous/twitchy during the meal, but came right over to us after to shake our hands and say hello. He acted just like a regular guy, and totally didn’t have to come over to us!
