I’ve partnered with Under Armour to bring you this blog post. As always, thank you for supporting Carrots ‘N’ Cake!

The Carrots ‘N’ Cake 10,000 Steps a Day Challenge officially kicks off today! Woohoo! (If you haven’t had a chance to sign up, you can still participate. Just sign up here.) It’s a 28-day challenge that runs today through Saturday, December 1st. The goal is to accumulate 10,000 steps (or more) each day, so I wanted to share some tips and tricks for adding more steps to your day.

I don’t know about you, but my fitness motivation often wanes this time of year. The weather turns cold, the days become shorter, and life just starts to get busy with regard to other priorities. My workout schedule is always the first to go, so I decided to challenge myself to accumulating at least 10,000 steps per day – now through December 1st. And, hopefully, this new habit will transition into the busy holiday season and beyond!

I WILL walk 10,000 steps per day.

It’s one thing to wish that you could do something, but it’s another to actually say you will. November is definitely a blah month for staying motivated, so I’m excited to turn this walking challenge WISH into a WILL and recommend some gifts from Under Armour that will help you achieve this goal (if you’re joining me!) or any of your other fitness goals!

Now that I’ve established my goal for the next 4 weeks, I want to make sure to keep my motivation high. My fitness watch will definitely help to keep me on track as well as my favorite athleisure apparel that transitions from my everyday life to fitness and back again. Here are some pieces from Under Amour that I am especially loving lately, and I know will help me complete this walking challenge with flying colors!

UA Pindot Open Back Women’s Long Sleeve Shirt

I shared my love for this open back long sleeve shirt in a previous post, and I’m so glad that it’s in my life now! I love the dark maroon color, but it comes in 3 others as well.

The fit is more relaxed and the fabric is so soft. In fact, it’s actually really light performance cotton with the cutout for ventilation and style. Basically, it’s cute and cozy!

Armour Fleece Big Logo Women’s Hoodie

This hoodie is so perfect for colder walks – it’s almost like an old-school fleece jacket. It’s light and cozy, but incredibly warm with just the right amount of stretch. The material is sweat-wicking too – just in case I really heat up on my walks. I ordered this hoodie in Utility Blue, but it comes in 15 (!!) other color combinations, so there’s definitely one that you’d love too!

UA Vanish Crop Women’s Studio Capris

Guys, these capris are everything – and you guys know how much I love a good pair of black workout leggings! 😉 If there’s anything from this post that you purchase, make sure these babies are in your shopping cart! The material is SO SOFT and moves SO WELL with you. It definitely performs while giving you a bit of support without adding a ton of bulk. And, for those of you who are super sweaty like me, the fabric is actually called “UA Vanish” because that’s exactly what sweat does when you’ve got these on. It’s super quick to dry and doesn’t show any “weird” sweat marks. If you like a little color is your life, these capris also come in Static Blue.

Armour Fleece Women’s Pants

Another pair of must-have pants! 🙂 These fleece joggers come in 4 different colors, but, of course, I went with go-with-everything black because I know I’ll wear them a ton. They’re lined with performance fleece, which is incredibly light, incredibly warm, and has just the right amount of stretch. The tapered leg with ribbed cuff is super flattering, and I love the versatility of these pants – they can go right from walking workout to my couch! 🙂

UA Breathe Lace X NM Women’s Sportstyle Shoes

My gosh, I am so IN LOVE with these sneakers. They’re so pretty, right? I picked Ivory and Metallic Faded Gold, but there are also 5 other color combos to choose from. The Utility Blue and White were cute too! The mesh adds a nice lightweight, breathable feel – perfect for getting my steps in and running errands around town. These sneakers are even fashionable enough to wear out with friends. I actually wore them on a “date” with Mal and Quinn a couple weeks ago – comfort and fashion! Plus, when I’m wearing cute sneakers it motivates me to move more and all of those steps add up!

UA Vanish Seamless Women’s Long Sleeve Shirt

I love a good long sleeve workout top, and I love that this one can transition from everyday life to my workouts. I often throw it on over a tank top before a workout, but it’s also super cute to wear with just a sports bra underneath around the house or running errands. Wearing my workout gear also makes it so much easier to get my steps in for the day. I love this light purple shade, but this top comes in 4 other colors. The fabric is smooth, soft, and wicks sweat and dries really fast. There’s actually mesh sides that add breathability. I’m a big fan!

Just a quick FYI before I share my tips for getting more steps into your day. Under Armour is offering FREE shipping to CNC readers on all orders $30 with code CARROTSNCAKE18! How’s that for incentive to treat yourself to some new gear?! The code is valid today through 12/31/18.

I’m sure we’ve all heard the usual “take the stairs” or “walk the dog” suggestions, which are great, but I wanted to add some of my own “outside the box” ideas to creatively increase your step tally for the day. And, of course, I’d love to hear about how you rack up those steps – please leave a comment below with how you achieve your 10,000!

Just went (grocery) shopping? Take multiple trips from the car to the house and back again to bring your bags inside.

Before picking up your kids from school/sports/activities, take a lap of your surroundings (i.e. parking lot, field). Even a 5-10 minute walk adds up! Tip: Keep a pair of sneakers in your car.

Love deliveries to your house? Instead of having an item shipped to your house, have it delivered to a nearby store and pick it up yourself. It might not be as convenient, but you’ll add some steps to your day while being a bit kinder to the environment.

Shop at a new grocery store where you don’t know where items are located. I actually did this recently and walked in circles looking for products on my list!

Long wait at your favorite restaurant? Instead of sitting and waiting, grab the buzzer (or have the hostess text you) while you go for a walk outside.

Sign up for a local 5k – Sure, you can run it, but why not plan to walk it?

Visit a local park and pick up trash. Earn steps while helping to clean up your community!

Similarly, do your part by returning your shopping cart to the farthest corral or, better yet, return abandon carts to corrals.

Set daily step benchmarks and reminders to hit them! For instance, plan to walk 2,500 steps by 10:00 AM and 7,500 by 3:00 PM. Then, add reminders to your computer, smartphone, etc., so you stay on top of it!

Refill your water bottle (again) and take the long way to the restroom. Hydrate while adding steps to your daily total!

Add a pre-date night or girls’ night walk to your evening. A little extra activity is a fun way to kick off the night!
