Autumn-y

I’ll spare you the gory details of my nearly 7-hour long dentist appointment, but let’s just say, I wasn’t a happy camper by the end of it. I do, however, have two beautiful porcelain crowns on my back two molars, so I guess there’s a bright side to the whole ordeal!

I wasn’t able to eat at all during my dentist appointment, so by the time I got home at 5:00 pm, I was beyond starving. I went almost 10 hours without eating and I was cranky! 👿

As soon as I walked in the door, I immediately dug into the leftover chili in the fridge. I heated it up in the microwave, grabbed a piece of corn bread, and sat down for an early dinner.

Food never tasted so good!

I hadn’t eaten since breakfast, so, of course, I was still hungry after finishing my bowl of chili. There was some leftover pumpkin cheesecake from our friends, so I dug into that too.

I didn’t even bother with a plate! 😉

Thank goodness for soft food!

After eating an early dinner, Mal, Murphy, and I took a walk around the neighborhood. It was such a nice evening in Boston– cool, crisp, and very autumn-y.

Murphy was so well-behaved on the walk tonight. He’s sort of getting the whole leash thing!

On our walk, we stumbled upon a small Farmers’ Market. We picked up a few goodies for dinner this week.

Our walk continued on for almost an hour. It was nice to spend some quality time with my guys.

Hi, boys!

I’m spending the rest of my evening catching up with emails and my DVR. My hubby just brought me a mug of warm apple cider to help me with my work. What a guy! 😀

Pizza Dip Recipe

You guys asked for it, so here it is! 😀

In an aluminum tray (or baking pan), spread 16 ounces of cream cheese, and then layer your favorite marinara sauce, pepperoni slices, and top with shredded cheese. Bake at 350* F until cheese is melted, approximately 10-15 minutes. Serve warm with crackers, pita chips, or tortilla chips.

Back to the grind tomorrow! I only have 4 days left of my full-time job, but I still have so much to wrap up! Eek!!!

G’night, blog friends!

  3. I can’t even comment on the dentist visit, I think that is one of my least favorite places ever. All of the noises. . . Good luck in your last week of work! Once you’re done, you’re done.
We went for a walk around Castle Island tonight, so many great puppies, and the weather was perfect! Have a good night!

  4. murphy is so freakin cute! But ugh, i hate going to the dentist…and my dad is one haha! but i’ve never had that long of a procedure. sheesh. 5. i am so so so sorry about the dentist. until a few years ago, i still cried on my way there and sometimes in the waiting room. have a great week

  6. Thank goodness for SOFT leftovers after dental day…a la chili and cheesecake-comforting,easy on the teeth and YUM!

I HATE going to the dentist and often wonder how dentists can do their job knowing how fearful or wary many of us are of going.

Good for you for “grinning and bearing it”,and I have a feeling you steeled yourself for it knowing how expensive insurance etc is in selfemployment(my world!)

Do you have massage as insurance?I would DEFINITELY squeeze in a massage appt if it is covered. That would be such a treat after the dentist marathon day!

    Have a lovely week 🙂

  7. That feeling of “just need to eat” is aweful when you can’t. I had that while in the hospital for my surgery and they wouldn’t let me eat.

I love the pics with Mal and Murphy. So cute. They are two peas in a pod 🙂

  8. I had a dentist appt last week that took forever (not nearly as long as yours) but I was starvin’ marvin afterwards. My favorite part about Boston was the random Farmer’s Markets everywhere!! Is that an oreo crust on the pumpkin pie!??

  9. Uh i hate dental work. i can’t believe it was a full 7 hours! thank goodness its over, and you were able to come home to such a great meal! leftover chili is the best! 🙂

  10. oh man! I hate the dentist too. bleck! At least you had that amazing look pumpkin cheesecake after! Your baby is starting to get big! He is SUCH a cutie.

  11. Oh my goodness. I do not like the dentist. I am sorry you were there for SO long!! But, yay for having chili and pumpkin cheesecake when you got home 🙂 Your mug of apple cider made me want some, too! Enjoy your night!

  12. what a pain about your dental appointment… but good thing you can still chew and eat! that pumpkin cheesecake looks pretty ridiculously good.

  13. Looks good! The pictures of Mal ad Murphy are so cute! I love farmer’s markets, they are few and far between at this point in the year. You are a TROOOOOPER for surviving that dentist appointment. I cannot even imagine that!

  14. 4 more days, hah…the countdown has begun! It definately got MUCH colder overnight here in ny too. Can you say chilly!! I have an upcoming dentist appt in a few weeks cuz I think I have a few cavities, but you reminded me that when I go I should have a HUGE breakfast since I will either a.) not be able to eat afterwords, or b.) have to sit in that darn dentist chair for a LONG while. Good thing you had leftovers in your fridge!!

  15. My mom makes a great pepperoni pizza dip that’s so similar and a huge crowd pleaser. The only differences are that she mixes low fat sour cream w/ the softened cream cheese (we use reduced fat as well b/c you can’t taste the difference in the dip!) and swears by Ragu Pizza Quick for the sauce.

  16. You poor poor thing. Intense dental work is AWFUL! Trust me, I am all too familiar with the pain staking effects of dental issues. Ugh, my heart goes out to you dear.

Looks like you had a nice evening to make up for your crappy day, however.
Ending it all with a slice of pumpkin cheesecake is certainly fitting! 🙂

  21. Sorry for the teeth woes :(. Thanks for the pizza dip recipe. I can’t wait to try it!

I really do love your blog! I realized it today when I was sad each time I came back and there was no update. I knew you were at the dentist and it could not be good if you had no lunch post! Anyways, thanks for doing what you do – and doing it so well!

  22. 7 hours??? Insanity. Good thing you could eat when it was over and not have to gnaw at your food like a hungry crazy person 😉

  23. Tina –
Can’t wait for you to come to NuVal. I’ll share my Pepperoni Pizza Dip recipe with you then. I’m sure that is does not get a great NuVal score but it sure is yummy!

  24. Wow that is a long time at the dentist. Glad everything went ok though. I have been at the dentist for 5 hours… though they were having power issues so most of the time I was just waiting in the chair!!! Glad that you got some good food in ya.

  25. Dental work is the worst. I am terrified of the dentist. It’s bad! Good thing you have your husband and adorable dog to cheer you up! 🙂

And smart thinking taking advantage of the insurance.

I think I could eat that chili at 7:00 this morning, haha!

  28. Ah, the same thing happened to me the other day. Except I totally had NO appetite after eating breakfast and didn’t get hungry til around 6. But then I was HUNGRY. Pumpkin cheesecake is a good thing to fill that void 😀
