Hello!! I only have about a minute to write this post while my hubby freshens up for an evening out on the town with friends. (I’m really having a blast in this city! :-D)
My morning started with an iced soy grande latte from Starbucks. It always cracks me up when the baristas at Starbucks get my name wrong. Maybe I mumble? I dunno. I guess “Tita” was close enough! š
Mal used his iPhone to find a place for breakfast this morning. The Yep app suggested Gene’s Coffee Shop, which ended up being a great little diner. It received positive reviews on Yelp and wasn’t far from our hotel, so we gave it a try.
Gene’s definitely lived up to its reviews. The service was fast, the staff was friendly, the prices were cheap, and the food was good.
I ordered two eggs over medium with homefries and toast. I didn’t love the homefries, but the whole wheat toast made up for it. It was thick and grainy.
I added hot sauce to my eggs.
And drank a vanilla milkshake with breakfast. I’m on vacation, right? š
After breakfast, Mal and I headed to the Museum of Modern Art to see the Matisse exhibit.
First, we stopped by the sculpture garden to get our bearings and snap a couple of photos.
The sculpture garden was beautiful.
Inside, we saw pieces by some of my favorite artists, including Jackson Pollack, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso.
I love modern art, but not super modern art. I totally don’t “get” it.
Then, we headed to Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe where Mal proposed to me back in 2006. This place definitely has a special place in our hearts.
Here’s the table where he prosed! š
At Morrell’s, Mal and I each ordered a glass of white wine.
And a delicious cheese plate to share.
Wine + cheese = my heaven.
Heading up town to meet friends for dinner.
See ya! š

Dying about the Tita! That’s great.
I’m so glad that you went to the MoMA! That’s easily one of my fave places in NYC.
I love your shirt….so cute! And that cheese plater delicious looking…yum!
I love your top! Can I ask you where you got it from?
Ooh, I love the MoMA. All your pictures are making me excited for my own trip to NYC in a month. Ditto, Priyanka, on the top. Where did you get that shirt? It’s adorable!
that’s so funny that you went to Morrell’s. My friend Eddie, who I went to grade school and high school with, is the chef there.
Ugh…no art fan here. I wish I could get into it but it’s just no my thing. Enjoy the rest of your day Tita! š hahhahaha
Milkshake for breakfast, you are such a rebel. š Love it and your outfit (in front of the fountain) is adorable!
It’s so funny you’ve been running around Midtown because I was in Boston this past weekend! We traded places. I’ve been wanting to try Morrell’s for a while because it’s so close to my work. I’m definitely going to have to check it out now.
Aww, what a great memory to revisit! It’s so sweet that you went back to the EXACT spot Mal proposed. Did you guys sit there?! What great memories of Mal and Tita… š
Wei-Wei
Aww that’s so awesome to go back to the place where he proposed! New York was a good choice in location!
I guess that place was no Wheelhouse Diner, huh? š At least the cheese plate was awesome later one!
i think i’t’s so funny when Starbucks gets my name wrong. I’m pretty sure I say “Sam,” but somehow I’ve gotten “Pam,” “Sad,” and my personal favorite, “Ham.”
Nothing is funnier than calling the Jewish vegetarian “Ham.”
Hubba hubba! My degree is in art, and it’s been waaaaay too long since I’ve been to any art exhibit!
oh, that is so fantastic– heading back to the place where you got engaged! that’s quite romantic š
i apparently mumble, too, because people always think i say my name is “evelyn.” oops!
Love your outfit. Glad you’re enjoying NYC. See you soon =)
That’s a fun shirt! Where’s it from?
Awwww….love the place that he proposed to you at!! So cute!
re: my shirt: It’s from H&M.
This post made me want to go (even more than before) to NYC too!
LOL at “Tita”!
I would kill to see that art exhibit! I love Picasso and Pollock!
Wine and cheese is my perfect meal too š
I love MoMA. Did you visit the store? I basically adore everything in there.
On that note–I highly recommend these…so cute, and a very novel use for wine glasses: http://www.momastore.org/museum/moma/ProductDisplay_Wine%20Glass%20Lampshades_10451_10001_48567
I am obsessed with wine and cheese. Adam and I shared a bottle of wine and a cheese plate with dinner every night of our honeymoon. YUM YUM!
How romantic going back to the place where Mal proposed. The cheese plate looks really, really good. š
OMG, YUM…. I used to work at Morell’s a million years ago and that is where I learned how much I love a) cheese and b)wine. That cheese plate looks so good!
I have your shirt in light pink, it looks so cute on you!!
Love that you guys used yelp to find bfast…my husband and I did that on vacation in San Diego last week and found some absolute GEMS!
