Happy 2011!
I rang in the new year sitting on my couch in my PJs with Mal and Murphy while watching the Snooki Ball Drop. I’m not proud of the Snooki part, but it was exactly how I wanted to start 2011.
Earlier in the evening, Mal and I enjoyed dinner at Stockholders, “an urban-style steak house dropped into the heart of the South Shore.”
As you know, I really miss Boston, but dining at Stockholders last night made me feel not so far away. The feel of the interior and the ambiance were reminiscent of an upscale, city restaurant. The food was great too!
Stockholders was packed last night! The wait for a table was 2 hours, so Mal and I opted for dinner at the bar instead.
While we waited, Mal and I enjoyed a cocktail. I went with my usual drink: a Dirty (vodka) Martini.
After only about 15 minutes, Mal managed to snag us two seats at the bar. Score!
Despite the craziness, the bartenders were very attentive and served us a basket of warm bread as soon as we seated ourselves. While I pursued the menu, I munched a wheat roll with a little bit of butter.
For my meal, I ordered the Scallop and Chourico Stuff Portobello. It’s description immediately caught my attention: “Sea scallops sautéed with onions and chourico in a fresh crumb stuffing topped with manchego cheese.”
My goodness, it was delicious!!! It was sort of like a mini scallop casserole on top of a big portabella mushroom with melted cheese on top. I ate every last morsel of it.
Mal ordered the Cowboy Rib Eye, which he said was tasty, but nothing special. He shared a couple of bites with me and I liked it, but agree that it was your standard rib eye.
After dinner, we had a little fun with Mal’s iPhone.
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!! Perhaps not overwhelmingly tasty, but the flower on top of the steak is a nice touch.

Happy New Year! In my humble opinion, it’s the quiet ones with the people you love that are the most memorable.
Looks delish! We were surprised that the brewery we went to wasn’t packed. It got busier but definitely open tables even when we left around 7! Happy new year!

Happy New Year to both of you!
Happy New Year! I had a pretty low key evening too. After a hectic holiday season, sometimes it can be nice to just stay in on NYE! 🙂

Happy New Year! We usually stay home with the kids and have a kid friendly party. This year there was a 30th surprise birthday party for my cousin, they had a DJ in the basement and a karaoke machine. We took the kids and had fun. We left before midnight and were on the road when the ball dropped, darn I missed the Snookie drop! LOL.
Your meal looks fabulous! Happy New Year!
Sounds like you had a wonderful New Years Eve.
Glad to hear.
Happy New Year Tina!!
