Hello and happy NEW YEAR, my friends!
I am so glad it’s 2015 because I’m looking forward to so much this year… Quinn growing, walking, and talking, traveling (oh, how I’ve missed it), running the Boston Marathon, summer (yep, just plain old summer), and so much more! Hello, 2015!
Since a lot of us (myself included) are kicking off the new year with our health and wellness in mind, I thought I would share a new favorite workout and recipe with all of you.
I did the workout below at KFIT the other day and it kicked my butt (in a good way, of course). You need a barbell and kettlebell for this workout, but as long as you have a kettlebell, you could still do it. You would just need to sub Goblet Squats for the Front Squats and jump over the kettlebell for the Bar-Facing Burpees.
The recipe below is what I ate for dinner last night before going straight to bed. I know… we had a super exciting New Year’s Eve. Listen to this: We ate dinner, put Quinn to bed, and then we went to bed ourselves. I was sound asleep by 9:00 PM. Mal wished me a Happy New Year at 4:30 AM when Quinn woke up this morning. (Thankfully, we got him to sleep for another hour, so 5:30 AM didn’t seem so bad.) Anyway… this is the meal that I ate last night, and it was sooooo delicious and definitely one I will make again!
Buffalo Chicken Veggie Rice-Bowl: Steam some broccoli and spinach, chop it up into small salad-like pieces, pour on some buffalo sauce, mix in some rice and chicken, and top it all with blue cheese crumbles. OMG, deeeeelicious!

I’m looking forward to being injury free after suffering multiple injuries in 2014 due to hormone imbalances. After seeing dozens of doctors who didn’t figure out the root cause, finally Mayo Clinic figured it out but only after I forced them to find answers. I’m looking forward to not seeing any more doctors this year!!!
I’m mostly looking forward to graduating high school and getting into full career mode, since I’ll have a new independence going into this next stage of my life!
I’m looking forward to moving back to the U.S. this month!
Walking & Talking is the best! Makes life just a little easier for mamas 🙂
I am excited about moving forward and embracing life! Happy New Year!
We didn’t do anything for NYE either and I kind of wish I had gone to bed earlier since I was just staying up for no reason, and didn’t even make it to midnight! I went to bed at 11:30 and it really should have been 9:30, I think you guys had the right idea.
I have a bunch of projects I am working on, and I am looking forward to getting my CPT soon. I also am looking forward to summer! It’s always a nice and carefree time. Enjoy your New Year’s Day!
Low-key New Years are the way to go in my book! We were in bed by 10pm after a long week of traveling to see different members of our families for the holidays. I am looking forward to growing my blog in the new year by providing helpful and practical tips for individuals and families to stay healthy by exercising and eating real food.
I love an easy recipe, and this looks delicious!!
Happy new year! I fell asleep at 8pm. Life of a mom!
I’m looking forward to finally setting down some wedding plans this year!
NYE was awesome– relaxed by the fire with wine and family and new year’s eve movies 🙂 this year i’m looking forward to finding out where i’m going to be for the next few years!
Happy New Year! My husband and I stayed in, made homemade pizza and ice cream (yum!), and I made it till 11:52 pm before crawling in bed. Then I forced myself to stay awake till midnight since I had already made it that far into the night! 🙂
I love this meal!! I make it all the time using plain greek yogurt or sour cream and avocado instead of the blue cheese. So good!
Happy new year!
I’ll be spending part of this morning doing a Jillian Michaels workout. I’m starting off 2015 right!
Ooooh that does sound tasty! I wish I had gone to bed at 9 p.m., it was more like 10:30, but man, I love my sleep! haha
I’m looking forward to an awesome year, I just can feel it 🙂
Don’t feel bad, my hubby and I don’t have kids yet and we stayed home for NYE. We were up to see the ball drop though! And I’m looking forward to moving into a bigger apartment this year. Space is hard to come by in San Francisco! Have a great day! 🙂
I’m most looking forward to going to London and Paris by myself for my 30th birthday. My wonderful husband is supportive of me fulfilling my dream of solo travel to my favorite city in the world (Paris). I’ve been to both cities before and I’m looking forward to doing all the things I’ve missed on previous trips. It’s making me excited to turn 30! Happy New Year 2015!
2015 = run my first marathon, intuitive eating, and being present each day!
Happy New Years!
I’ve spent the day cleaning, it’s like a spring clean except 10 times more awesome! I’m going to try and live out the happiness project! Or at least parts of it! 🙂 Dinner looks yum! I’ve have to go homemade mayo in the mix of the instant paleo kind and perhaps a fried egg on top!
This recipe sounds tasty! Happy New Year!
I went out with some friends last night but ended up leaving around 11 because I was done getting grinded on drunk 25-year-old dudes singing along to “Must be the Money.” First time I’ve officially felt “old.”
I welcomed 2015 in my PJs in front of the TV. It was glorious.
We had a pretty relaxing NYE as well. I made Mexican and a delicious Paleo Almond Butter Fudge Trifle dessert. I was exhausted and ready for bed by 10:30pm, but my kiddos were adamant about making it until midnight. Oh to be young and have their energy and excitement.
Happy New Years to you and your family!
Happy New Year! Our new year was pretty low key. We played some cards and watched TV. The thing I’m looking forward to most in 2015 is hopefully buying a house!
I am looking forward to birthing our little girl into the world! Our first baby, whew it’s going to be an adventure! My New Years: going to bed at 10pm, woke up to crazy fireworks going off at the beach (I live on Oahu) so I walked out and watched them on the porch before calling my hubs at work, wishing him a happy one, and then promptly going back to bed again! Exciting;)
My New Year’s was about as eventful as yours lol. I had off from my evening job & got out of my first job early, so I had a couple beers with some co-workers & got home around 6:30pm, ate some Chinese food, & went to sleep at 9:30pm haha. My boyfriend had to work & I didn’t feel like going to a bar with my friends, so I figured I’d catch up on some sleep.
What I’m looking forward to most is living with my boyfriend. We move in together tomorrow! 😀
yum that buffalo chicken bowl sounds really good!!! Hmmm in 2015 i’m looking forward to summer vacation– I’m going to cape cod with my bf’s family for the second time. I loved it so much last time, I can’t wait for this one!! 🙂
I’m looking forward to continuing on the journey I’m on! In 2014 I had a lot of big changes happen, so in 2015 I’m focused on making one small habit change at a time. First up is walking my dog every morning for 20+ minutes!
That sounds delish (minus the chicken)! Anything with bleu cheese is pretty great in my book, though!
I am looking forward to more travel and more runs. I am also trying g to have more date nights with my hubby.
My sisters took me out to a surprise dinner for my bday at a fancy restaurant I had been dying to try. We had planned to then go home and stay up and play cards with my hubby. But on my return home, my 3-year old was sick. So I was up all night, every 20 min catching puke. Happy New Year!
ps. I got to repeat this 2 nights later when my 5-year old was sick.
From what I’ve heard, a lot people ended up having a quiet New Year’s. You guys are not alone! I got sick on the 30th – it was going around, through and inbetween my family so it was bound to happen. I was fast asleep by 10:30 on the Eve. January 1st is one of my favorite days of the year! I was feeling better and hit the gym after feasting on my father’s traditional New Year’s day breakfast of waffles and sausage.
For 2015, I’m looking forward to moving ahead in my job, getting back to running on a regular schedule (bought new running shoes on Friday!), and not working so hard.
