Good morning from Murphy!

He’s just chillin’ on his our bed right now.

When I was making the bed this morning, I thought about how much I enjoy spending time in our bedroom. It’s easily my favorite room in the whole house. The bed is comfy and cozy, and when I finally climb in at the end of a long day, I always take a minute to count my blessings before I relax and fall asleep. It’s a “no phone zone” in our bedroom, so I disconnect from work and let go of the stresses of the day. (Well, I do the best I can. I’m definitely more relaxed in the bedroom than I am in any other part of the house.) I either read in bed or chat with Mal and always cuddle with Murphy. Pugs are the best cuddlers.

Yesterday (I’m a day behind with posting my eats), I ate my usual two-ingredient pancake with a scoop of sunflower butter for breakfast.

On the side, I had a glass of Dandy Blend with canned coconut milk and a splash of almond milk. I never thought I’d love an iced coffee “alternative,” but I look forward to drinking this one every morning. The coconut milk helps too!

Question of the Day

What’s your favorite room in your house?

  1. The couch in our family room is my favourite spot. It’s my quiet corner — I think that every house needs a place for you to “escape” to, for sanity’s sake!!

Ps. Your two-ingredient pancake is still way prettier than mine, but I’m getting there!! (And getting in lots of practice! I love those little buggers!! But I think my heat is still a little too high …)

  2. I would have to agree, my bedroom is my favorite place. It’s my sanctuary, my solice, my workout room, my tv room, my devotion room, where I sleep, hang out, catch a good movie… I actually just painted it and it a brighter color and it made all the difference!

  3. My bedroom is definitely my favorite. I love with my family still, so we have a fulllll house. I have my reading area, book shelf, office, and bed in my room. It’s basically like a miny (very miny) apartment. My walls are light light blue and I’ve decorated it just like I like. I always have my window open and can see out to the neighborhood. It’s perfect 🙂

  4. Our bedroom is my favorite too! We have a duvet, and I just have to say, that is the best invention ever….. So warm and so comfy…. I’m getting sleepy just thinking about it!
The bathroom would be a close second only because we have a large tub with jets….. So great after a rough workout!

  5. Your room looks so cozy and relaxing! No wonder why you love it. We haven’t done any work in our bedroom yet so the living room is my fave. Lots of bright colors + that’s that where my piano is!

  6. My favorite room, anywhere I’ve ever lived, has been my bedroom. Probably because it’s private, it’s mine, and despite the state of disaster it’s always in, I know it’s my disaster and i’ll get to it when I get to it.

I also have an amazing bed. I love it. I never want to part with it. It’s way too comfortable for its own good, especially on days when it’s slightly chilly, and I get to wrap myself in a warm blanket cocoon. *sigh* Happy place.

  7. Hmm, I think it depends on the season, really.
In the summer, I love our bedroom, we tend to hang there to watch TV at night (with the AC) and have the dogs with us to all cuddle.

In the winter, I love our living room(s). We have 2 rooms with fireplaces. If we are watching football/movie, we are in the ‘lower’ living room with a fire going and the pups curdled up with us.
Or, if we are hanging in, having a few beers, playing cards/board game and listening to music, its the original living room-with a fire and the dogs chilling out.

  8. My bedroom is also my home office, so as much as I love it I sometimes stresses me out because it’s not only a place to relax, it’s a place I work as well. I think one of my favorite rooms is our living room. It’s big, open, and has two huge comfy couches that I go lay on when I just want to relax and detox from a day of work.

  9. I’ve been wondering about the coconut milk you use. Is there a reason for using canned milk as apposed to the coconut milk found in the fridge section next to almond milk? I’m curious about the refrigerated kind; if the texture is less thick than canned, more like almond milk. Just wondering…Thanks 🙂

    1. The stuff in the carton in the refrigerated section is basically watered-down coconut milk. I prefer the thick, creamy stuff in the can. It’s a lot more satisfying too!

  10. Murphy is so stinkin cute! I have question. How come Murph dog doesn’t wear a collar in the house? I always have collars on my dogs, guess i’m just paranoid they will get out. But they do seem to be uncomfortable for my pugs and their huge necks.

      1. @Tina: Haha, our dog is also “naked” inside the house, and I totally crack up when I call her that. It’s just easier to attach her collar to her leash and I think it makes her feel better. Definitely strange at first when you’ve grown up with dogs always wearing collars, but I think it works for some doggies.

  11. I think the living room is my favorite room in the house, because it always means rest and relaxation at the end of the day.

Great bedroom, but I am completely bumfuzzled with their only being one nightstand. How does the other person function without having a lamp and nightstand? This is like my #1 priority in a bedroom 🙂 I can’t handle not having a light and place for my books, and think I’d feel all lopsided with just one. Does that make me weird?

  12. Oh gee’s I just left you a comment about my boys love for your dog Murphy…I’ll have to show them these pics! I guess my favorite room would have to be my bedroom. We’re in a rental right now and it’s nothing special but it’s peaceful and I love that Kimball and I don’t have to share closets. It has two walk ins and it’s awesome for bringing home new shoes or clothes…he never sees the bags. 🙂

  13. Bedroom, for the same reasons as you. When I finally get in bed at night I often just sigh with contentment because it’s so cozy. I settle in with a magazine or a book but usually only make it a few pages before my eyes won’t stay open anymore.
