Hi, friends! HAPPY Monday to you! How was your weekend? Mine was quite lovely, and I still have a couple more posts for you from our Newport weekend. We had such a nice time! That said, here is a recap from yesterday morning!

Sunday started with breakfast at Gary’s Handy Lunch. Mal and I randomly stumbled upon this diner last year and loved it so much, we needed to go back again this year. I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich with bacon and homefries on the side. It totally hit the spot!

After breakfast, my in-laws took Quinn for a stroll downtown while Mal and I got our sweat on. We did a quickie partner slamball workout and then I headed out for a glorious 6-mile run by myself.

I absolutely love running in Newport. It’s such a gorgeous area and it’s one of my favorite places to run ever.

The Cliff Walk is breathtaking! Rave run for sure!

When I got home from my run, Mal had some goodies waiting for me: an M&M muffin + iced coffee! Best husband ever.

  1. My favorite type of morning is similar to yours – A good sweat, a delicious brunch and spending time with the fam 🙂 That M&M muffin has me drooling – I may need to whip up something similar today!

    Perfect morning for me is my chill time before the Mr heads off to work, catching up with my favorite bloggers and getting a jump on what I need to do for the day.

  3. An m&m muffin? I never knew they existed, it looks amazing! I bet it tastes even better after a 6-mile run!

    My favorite type of morning is getting in a good workout (typically a run) and then enjoying a hearty breakfast. Getting a good workout just sets the mood for an even better day, at least for me! I cannot wait to get back into my workout routine after our little guy arrives!

  4. I love mornings with a workout and relaxing cup of coffee. Starting my day with a good stretch or sweat always sets me up for a great day.

  7. My favorite type of morning is one where I can relax and start the day off slowly. Then, a good hearty breakfast, coffee, friends and some fitness round it out to make it a perfect morning.

  8. I <3 Newport. I spent a month in Rhode Island this summer for work and absolutely fell in love. Since we were traveling around the state a lot, I would try to find a new spot to run/walk on cool mornings. The cliff walk was a highlight for sure! Wish we could have spent more time to discover some of the eats in Newport though. I'm so jealous!

  9. I was going to say what a gorgeous run, but then I was distracted by the muffin! Wow! Totally jealous!

    My favorite mornings are when I can wake up without an alarm, have a hot tea and read for a bit, then do my workout on my time! Usually its rush around and go to work!

  10. That M&M muffin looks soooo delicious.
    My favorite type of mornings have quickly become Saturday mornings this fall: long runs with all the pretty fall colors on the trees as scenery, followed by hot coffee and homemade chocolate chip pancakes with my husband.

  11. That totally sounds like the perfect morning to me! A nice sweat session, some good food and good coffee, followed by computer and cuddle time with my puppy!

  12. Wow Newport is gorgeous! I have never been, but these pictures are definitely making me want to 🙂 My favorite morning includes an early workout, and then coming home to my wonderful husband and sweet baby girl. They are the best!!

  13. Sounds like a great morning to me! My favorite morning is very similar… waking up before my husband does to enjoy coffee while I read on the couch, then catching up over a bowl of oatmeal and then going to the gym. It’s especially nice when I don’t have to rush because of time constraints or obligations. However, now that I’m thinking about it…we got up and out early for brunch yesterday to beat the crowds and went to a favorite go-to spot in Soho and ate at the bar. Love doing that. OK – I have two favorite types of mornings…don’t make me choose! 🙂

  15. Has the entire Cliff Walk been reopened? We visited in May of this year and a huge portion was still closed from Sandy damage. We still loved the walk {and mansions} we were able to see.

  16. Agreed. Looks like an awesome morning. I’m a big sucker for both breakfast sandwiches and gorgeous morning workouts. Fall running really is the best. Doesn’t hurt when you end it with an m&m muffin either. 🙂
