My Favorite Experiences From Year #32

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Happy birthday to me! It’s my birthday, and I turn 33 years old young today!

Today is also National Martini Day! Perfect, right? Maybe I should call it National MarTINA Day? Haha!

Looking back on the past 365 days, it’s apparent that I had a pretty kick-ass year. I still can’t believe everything that happened. I traveled a ton, attended all sorts of awesome events, and spent time with my favorite people. What an amazing year, and I’m thankful for every single second of it. With that said, here are my favorite experiences from year #32:

Ireland {Parts 1, 2 & 3}

Here’s the final post from our Ireland adventures! In case you missed the first two, here they are: What To Do In Ireland {Part 1} What To Do In Ireland {Part 2} DINGLE Stay The Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast. If you visit Dingle, definitely stay here!

Our Trip to Hawaii

Aloha Honolulu airport

We made it! Twenty hours of travel and we’re here! I AM SO PSYCHED! A HUGE thank you to the Oahu Visitor’s Bureau for sponsoring my trip and making one of my dreams come true. Yesterday started bright and early at 4:00 AM.

Canyon Ranch Lenox

canyon ranch lenox

Good morning and greetings from Canyon Ranch Lenox! I will be spending the next 2.5 days here as part of a media visit. My friend Gina put me in touch with one of the public relations representatives at Canyon Ranch and the rest is history.

My Sister’s Baby Shower

My sister’s baby shower was a huge success! It was a beautiful day, tons of family and friends were in attendance, and the mommy-to-be had a wonderful time. We couldn’t have asked for a better day! I can’t wait for baby Matthew to be here! Less than 2 months to go

Mohegan Sun Girls’ Weekend

Ok, where did we leave off? Biking adventures, right? After our biking tour of Mystic, we headed back to Mohegan Sun for an afternoon at Elemis Spa. Each of us were provided with a spa service to review, so I chose a deep tissue massage.

Yoga with Martha Stewart at Grand Central Station

Rise and shine, it’s time for yoga with Martha Stewart! My day started bright and early at Theodora‘s apartment. We were both invited to a yoga event with Martha Stewart this morning, so I spent the night on her couch (Theodora‘s not Martha’s) last night.

Pug Therapy Visits

Yesterday afternoon, Murphy and I had a very special visit to make at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As you probably know, the MIT community has been through quite a lot lately, so when I received a request from Dog B.O.N.E.S. about visiting the campus, Murphy and I immediately jumped at the chance.

Good morning! Happy Friday! Last night’s New York City adventures started with appetizers and drinks at The Long Room. Strike a pose, Theodora! Theodora and I met a bunch of her friends there before the concert. Everyone ordered wine (I stuck with water) and then we shared a few appetizers among the table.

Four Years with Mal

IMG_5321 (563x750)

As cheesy as it may sound, four years ago today, I married my best friend. Mal rules for a lot of reasons, but my favorite is that we always have so much fun together””whether it’s doing CrossFit, traveling, drinking beers, or simply making up spur-of-the-moment games to play together””we always manage to make each other smile.Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

tiny HUGE Party

Hooray! Our “tiny HUGE” party was a huge success! What a fun time! Mal was ready to party. Ping”¦ not so much. (How adorable is he?!) The food was definitely the highlight of the day. On the menu: mini pizzas made from homemade (omg, delicious) dough. Sliders. Pasta salad made with tiny and HUGE shells. Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

2012 CrossFit Games

Ahhhhhh! The CrossFit Games are absolutely amazing! I keep referring to them as “CrossFit Christmas” because they’re so fun! Again, a huge THANK YOU to GNC and Reebok for making this trip happen for me. I am forever grateful! On Friday, Heather, Kelly, and I arrived at the Games around 10:30 AM. Our Vacation to Oregon

After our paddleboarding adventures yesterday morning, Mal and I visited Bend again to explore some more. We arrived late in the afternoon and then wandered around Wall Street and Bond Street, popping into cute shops and enjoying the sights and sounds.

2013 CrossFit Open

IMG_3037 (600x600)

Phew. I’m glad the 2013 CrossFit Open is officially over. It was a ton of fun, and I really enjoyed myself, but I’m ready to get back to my regular workouts. I feel like I haven’t been to a CrossFit class in ages! Last Friday afternoon, Kerrie and I made plans to do 13.5 together.

Our New Bathroom

The time has come to show you guys our new bathroom!! Are you ready? Here’s a quick history of how it’s looked over the years: Here’s how the re-do went down: Demo day. Out with the old. In with new tile. Hello, new floor! Hello, new vanity and toilet! And, finally, the walls were painted.

24 Days of Togetherness

Good morning! I have a fun holiday project to share with you guys. I was inspired to make it after almost buying a neat advent calendar from Starbucks a couple of weeks ago. Each day of the calendar was filled with chocolate or another fun surprise, so it was a lot more festive than the cheap-y ones I usually buy.

Rx-ing My First Girl Workout

I did it! I did my first “Girl” workout as prescribed! Woohoo! I finished “Helen,” but, man, it wasn’t pretty. My time wasn’t super fast, but I’m still proud of myself for Rx-ing a benchmark workout. I first did “Helen” back in February and finished in 12:12, but I used bands for the pull-ups.

CNC Turns Five

Happy National Carrot Cake Day!!! National Carrot Cake Day is also the day that I published my very first post on Carrots ”˜N’ Cake. Crazy coincidence, right? Every year since then, I’ve celebrated both of these special occasions on February 3rd.

Weekend at Twin Farms

On Saturday night, Mal and I got all dressed up and then started our evening with a cocktail at the pub at Twin Farms. The pub had a fully-stocked bar (with snacks) as well as a variety of entertainment options, including a pool table, dart board, big screen TV with lots of movies, and a grand piano.

Questions of the Day

What’s your favorite kind of martini?

Dirty martini with extra olives.

What has been your favorite year of your life so far?

I really loved being 20 because I had some amazing and insanely fun experiences that year, including living in the Gamma Phi Beta sorority house with 30 of my best friends, spending the summer working on Block Island with four girl friends, and then going to England for a semester abroad, which included lots of travel all over Europe. It was an epic year.

P.S. Happy birthday to my June 19th birthday twin, Hillary!

  1. Happy Birthday! where did you work on block island?? I went there my whole life growing up and love its rustic beauty!

  2. Happy Birthday, Tina! I loved my whole 30’s. I finally felt comfortable in my own skin, I was settled down and life was good.

Hope you do something fun for your B-day?

Did Murphy get you a card?

  3. Happy Birthday!! I hope your day is filled with everything you love; pug kisses, cross fit, iced coffee, fun with your hubby, and dessert!

  4. Happy birthday!!

I just recently tried an espresso martini and it was so stinkin delicious I could hardly handle it. I also don’t drink coffee so I was bouncing off the walls- fun times!

My favourite year was 22. There was just lots of fun stuff happening that year and I spent a month in Portugal and Spain with my three best girlfriends. Ohh the memories!

  5. Happy birthday, Tina! I hope you have a great day! My birthday is in exactly one week, and I’ll be 32. Catching up to you, girl!

  6. Happy, happy birthday Tina! Wishes sent all the way from DC. 🙂 Hope this is the beginning of another fabulous and fantastic year!

Can you believe I’ve never had a martini? Tonight may be the right night to try one on. 😉 I have dinner plans at a new fancy restaurant so completely appropriate! I’ll toast to you!

  7. Happy birthday! I just love your blog and pug (so stinking cute!).

And have to give a shout out to G-Phi-B…my sister was a “sister” at Syracuse. Lots of fun times with her friends from the house. 🙂

  8. Seeing the pug birthday hat first thing just made my day. How adorable! Happy birthday!!! My favorite year was probably 21 or 14. There is something about increments of 7 that have always made me happy. I cried on my 8th birthday because I wasn’t 7 anymore.

  9. Happy birthday! You have had a great year! And your pun about MarTINA cracked me up. It’s all about the silly things.

I’ve had one martini in my life, and it was one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever tasted. Now I’m too scared waste my money and try another one, so I tend to stick with drinks I trust.

Good question about the best year of your life. I have no clue. I haven’t had too many bad years, but I’m not sure which was the standout. Maybe my senior year of college.

  10. Happy Birthday! Ya know, that is a good question -best year of my life? I want to say 22 Рgraduated college, had my perfect boyfriend become my perfect fianc̩ got my first real job, planned a wedding and started a future. I should say best year of my life was when my son was born but the overall best best year is still when I was 22.

  11. Happy Birthday!!!

    Favorite martini: Lemon drop
Favorite year: 30, everything just seemed to make sense and I realized I didn’t “know everything” like I thought I did in my 20’s…LOL

Cheers to another great year and Happy MarTina Day too!!!

  12. Oh my gosh, I think you have done more fun and exciting things in one year than I have in my entire 35 years. Not fair!!! Actually, that is what happens when you decide to have kids…’s not all you anymore. But darn it, I wish it were sometimes!!

My favorite year so far: 26. I had just moved to a big city and also got engaged and married within the same year. I guess that was my, “I am finally grown up” year.

  13. Happy Birthday Tina! My fav Martini is the coconut macaroon at Stella Blu in Nashua, NH. You have to try it!

  14. Wow, you’ve packed a ton of stuff into one year! I have to say 26 is shaping up to be my favorite year so far. As for martinis, I love me some lemon drops!
