Murphy Update III

Ugh, more bad news. This poor pug. These posts are getting harder and harder to write, but I’ll give you guys a quick update because I know a lot of you are thinking about our little guy. Again, thank you for all of your kind words and prayers. We really appreciate them and they mean a lot to us.

Ok, so things haven’t gone well since Murphy’s surgery, and we’ve needed to visit the vet every day since. The first two times were to manage his pain and then we went back again this afternoon to deal with an abscess (and infection). (The vet thinks it’s related to his original ear infection.) Basically, the poor dog was put through another surgery. And, this is awful too, Murphy developed a tremor in his leg, which might be related to the infection or a totally separate neurological issue. Ugh, all of this is just too much. I am so sad for Murphy. My heart hurts so much for him.

I’m not really sure what else to write/think/say at this point, but we’re going to do our best to nurse Murphy back to health. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

  7. Poor Murphy 🙁 Thank you for working so hard to get him better. I’m currently nursing my dog back to health from hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, which can also be quite serious. So hard to see our happy pups not doing well. I will keep Murphy in my thoughts.

  8. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please give Murphy a big hug for me. I know how hard it is to see your pup miserable and in pain. My pup had a minor surgery yesterday and watching him in discomfort just breaks my heart. I’m hoping Murphy is on the road to recovery now. I’m sending positive thoughts your way.

  11. I’m so sorry to hear about Murphy’s troubles. I started following your blog a couple of years ago and I always love the posts Murphy is included in.
I have a beloved pet of my own ( an English Bulldog) who has had her own health issues and I know how heart wrenching it can be. I will be sure to keep Murphy ( and his mom and pop) in my prayers

  12. Hi Tina,

I’m so sorry to hear about Murphy. Have you seen a veterinary neurologist? Tufts or Angell may be a good choice. I’m sorry if you had already seen a neurologist…where I work we have a neurology department and we see a lot of cases from vets who mean well but aren’t specialized. Not saying you guys did anything wrong. At any rate, I hope Murphy feels better soon. If you have any concerns you can email me and I’ll talk to the neurologists at my practice for advice.

  13. Awe, poor Murphy!! Will definitely send some get-better thoughts and wishes his way. So stressful not being able to help your furry babies. Stay strong Murphy!

  14. Tina I’m SO so sorry to hear about Murphy. I am just now catching up. I know exactly how you guys are feeling. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. We had to go through a lot of these decisions when our adopted cat broke his leg twice. It was the most heart wrenching thing to see him go through his pain. We nursed him back to health and he’s doing great but it was a long 5 months with a cat in a dog crate. I sure feel for you so much.

  15. We thinking about you Murphy, hope your finally feeling at least a bit better poor guy. Looking forward to you being back to your Murph-Tastic self, and your fun adventures!

You and the family try, and have a nice weekend,

    Woof’s and Purr’s

Sophie, Cleo, Linus, Pugsley, Lily-Bean, Ellie, and Sebastian, oh and our mom and dad too.. 😉
