Moving Billboard

Hello, friends!

The other day, I read an article about creative ways to make some extra cash. One of the ideas was basically turning your car into a moving billboard by advertising on it. Apparently, you can make some serious dinero doing this. One company who does this type of advertising, Free Car Media, says they’ll pay up to $900 per month! Crazy, right?

I’m all about moneymaking ideas, but I’m on the fence about this one. My car is old and sort of a piece of crap, so wrapping it in advertising actually wouldn’t be all that bad, but it would still look ridiculous no matter what.

Would you turn your car into a moving billboard if it earned you an extra $900/month?

I don’t know about you (maybe I’m weird), but before I fall asleep at night, I almost always think about what I’m going to eat for breakfast the next morning. Breakfast is by far my favorite  meal of the day, so I get excited for it. Last night was no different: I wanted pancakes for breakfast.

Pancakes take a little more effort than the average breakfast, so I whipped up the batter last night and stored it in the refrigerator overnight, so all I had to do was cook it in the morning. I added a layer of Barney Butter to the top of my pancake this morning.

Almond Pancake for One

  • 1 banana
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp almond flour/meal
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract

  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend well. (You could always mix by hand; it’ll just take some elbow grease to get the batter really smooth.)
  2. Pour batter onto a pre-heated, coated-in-non-stick-cooking-spray skillet or fry pan. Cook and flip.
  3. Serve with maple syrup, fresh fruit, nut butter, and other favorite toppings.

I spent a few hours at NuVal this morning, so I packed a large snack/small lunch to eat while there: sweet potato wedges + a container of plain Greek yogurt. Both were very satisfying and kept me full for a few hours.

When I got home from NuVal, I made myself a delicious Coconut-Kale smoothie. I can’t put my finger on the exact flavor of it, but it tastes very ‘tropical.’ (I wonder how it would taste with a little bit of rum in it?) The coconut flavor is fairly dominate, but the sweetness of banana and honey seem to mellow it out. It’s just really tasty– and nutritious!

Coconut-Kale Smoothie

  • 1 cup frozen chopped kale
  • 1 banana
  • 1.5 cups coconut milk
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp coconut extract
  • 1 handful ice

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Drink and enjoy!

Off to walk the pug and then CrossFit! I’m excited for tonight’s WOD!

  1. Seriously? A troll car? Holy moly! But you know what, for an extra $900/month, I would totally be down. I have no shame anyways :).
Glad you’re feeling better! Have an amazing day!

  2. I’ve seen a lot more cars as billboards lately. I guess it’s easy money if you don’t care that you are advertising for trolls. 🙂

I’ve seen so many smoothies today that I am making one right now for a snack!

  3. I’m on the fence about the whole car billboard thing but an extra $900 a month? I think I’d be willing to do it! My fiance’s friend owns a fitness shop kind of like GNC. He wrapped his entire car in advertising for his business. It actually helps him out a lot!

  4. During high school my dad “billboarded” his Hummer. That’s when any hope of me having a social life ended. BUT on the flip side, it was good for his business, it attracted a lot of attention. I personally would not go for something like that, but he would, so it worked. Maybe the Troll chick is into that stuff too.

And I ALWAYS dream of breakfast as I’m going to bed! Honest to goodness I think sometimes I have trouble falling asleep if I know OIAJ are waiting for me 😉

  5. hmmm thats such a tough question, I think I might do it to be honest. It would be a funny conversation starter and once people got used to it, it wouldn’t really be a big deal. Plus thats a ton of money!

  6. Hi! I’ve been reading your blog for nearly a year now and I just want to say thank you for sharing all of your healthy meals. Lots of things are coming together for me and I’m finding that I really am naturally adopting a healthier lifestyle, in part because I read so many health and fitness blogs. This lifestyle seems to be coming naturally now. That is huge to me, so thank you for “sharing your life one bite at a time”!

  7. Our car is a mini billboard right now and we don’t get paid for it, lol! We have Ron Paul magnets on both sides and working on a back window decal. It’s effective, it definitely gets noticed based on the feedback we get from fellow motorists or when we’re passi g through a parking lot. People have been nothing but enthusiastic, not sure how a loan mobile might go, though. Heh

  8. I would totally do it for that money! It might actually be an improvement on my old car!

I’m always excited about breakfast the night before. Current fave is Greek yoghurt, banana, blueberries and muesli. I’m jealous of the range of Greek yogurts you get there – it’s very limited in the UK.

  9. Yeah, I definitely think about breakfast (and other meals) ahead of time…I love food! For $900 a month, I’d probably make my car a billboard, why not? It’d be pretty darn easy to find in a parking lot too!

  10. It is tempting being as that would basically be free rent a month for doing nothing, on the other hand I wouldn’t want to be stuck being the viagra car or something like that!

Great looking smoothy by the way…got me thinking about having one for lunch!

  11. I don’t know if I could ever turn my car into a moving billboard. Maybe one logo if I really had a business worth talking about (like The SkinnyGirl bug!) but I don’t know that I could go all out like those cars! I would be too sad to do that to my car I think! Haha. But it is a good idea.

  12. Oh my gosh trolls!! What a blast from the past, right? I don’t know… I’m on the fence on this one although 900 extra bucks a month is not too shabby.

I love breakfast too… by far my favorite meal of the day. 🙂

  13. I’ve actually thought about turning my car into a billboard to make some extra cash. I’m not sure I can go ALL out like the photos above, but I think I’d be up for a magnet of some sort to slap on the sides…

  14. Haha those moving billboards are pretty funny! I don’t think I would ever do that, but ya never know if money gets tight 😉 I also think about breakfast every night before I go to bed. Sometimes it helps me to not have a late night snack!

  15. Hey Tina,

I just wanted to let you know that you really truly inspire me to be a better athlete, or at least to become one. I recently , or should I say since january 1st have had problems with my stomach, so working out, running, or doing any physical activity has been a real problem. However I know that eventually it will get better and I’m hoping that once I get back out there I will be able to follow many of your tips in health & fitness.
Your blog is so enjoyable to read and it truly makes me want to be healthier and better. Thanks 🙂

  16. The troll car is HEINOUS!! Hah! Never today, but I totally would have done it back in college when I could have used the extra cash….
