Marathon Roadmap Giveaway

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Obviously, I have marathon on the brain, so I thought today would be the perfect time to host a giveaway to win a copy of No Meat Athlete’s e-book Marathon Roadmap: The Vegetarian Guide to Conquering Your First 26.2!!

Matt Frazier is the blogger behind No Meat Athlete. He ran his first marathon in 2002, finishing in 4:52. Seven years later, six months after becoming vegetarian, he qualified for Boston with a time of 3:09:59 at the Wineglass Marathon. In June 2010, Matt ran his first 50-mile ultra-marathon, in 10.5 hours. Pretty amazing, huh?

With first-time marathoners in mind, Matt used his own running experience to write a realistic and readable e-book. Marathon Roadmap covers all of the bases with regard to training and gives you a ”˜roadmap’ for completing 26.2 miles. While it’s a “vegetarian guide,” you don’t need to be a vegetarian to benefit from the information inside.

What I liked most about this book is that it makes running a marathon seem do-able. You don’t need to be a super-athlete to do it! Matt keeps things simple, so you don’t have to worry about all of those extra details that can make running a marathon overwhelming. Matt gives a great overview and explanation of his e-book on his blog, so be sure to check it out. It really has everything you need to run your first marathon!

Here’s your chance to win a copy of Marathon Roadmap: The Vegetarian Guide to Conquering Your First 26.2, which includes four hours of audio interviews with some amazing vegetarian athletes!

To enter: Just leave a comment on this post about why you want to win Matt’s e-book. Earn an extra entry by tweeting about this giveaway”” just make sure to leave a second comment with your tweet in it. I’ll randomly pick a winner tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck!

  1. I’d love to win this because I struggle with having stamina and energy when I don’t eat meat. I know this isn’t the way it has to be so I’d like some ideas on how to maintain distance running with a vegetarian diet.

  2. I want to win because I am a vegetarian and running my first marathon in November (Philadelphia)!!

  3. I would love to win a copy simply b/c I need some direction. I’ve been wanting to change my diet for some time now and feel lost when I do. I’m a cancer survivor and diet is super important to me so this book would be a major help. Thanks and I hope I win!

  4. Oh my goodness! I would love to win this book! I just found out last week that I got chosen in the lottery for the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco October 16th. I’m a vegetarian too! so I need to get my hands on that e-book! 🙂

  5. I have been slowly moving to vegetarianism for about 6 months. I am a running addict, and at first, I was afraid that not eating meat would negatively impact my training. Slowly, I have learned the right foods to eat to get enough protein, and I am happy to report I just completed my first marathon in 3:46:40! This would be further motivation in my quest to find the balance between running and vegetarianism.

  6. I NEED to win Matt’s book because I am in serious need of some tips for vegetarians. I have been a vegetarian for a number of years, and I’ve been running for several as well. However, I’ve never been able to muster the strength and dedication required for the 26.2 monster! Honestly, I’m scared I won’t be able to do it. Soooo….who better to motivate and encourage me than the No-Meat Athlete!

  7. I have always been an athlete, however an athlete with very low endurance. Since the reality of life starts to take over playing sports every season isn’t so realistic for me anymore so I began to take up running. I’ve actually grown quite fond of running and have been taking our relationship slow over the past 8 months, however now I can’t seem to prevent myself from getting injured when I attempt to anything over 6 miles. I would love to run a marathon one but the thought that 8 months has led me to a plateau at 6 miles is quite a defeating thought. I would love to see if Matt’s book could actually benefit me to help me get on the right track of preparing for long distance runs and races. Having the competitive edge in my blood I would kill for a chance to run and cross the finish line of 26.2 miles.

  8. I would love to win Matt’s book because I am running my first marathon with Team in Training in 5 weeks! And I have this silly crazy goal to try and qualify for Boston!

  9. I would love to win this book because I just ran my second half in Providence this past Sunday and beat my first time by 14 minutes!! needless to say i have a mega-running bug now and I am starting to look into training for a full marathon

  10. I would like to get matts book, because there are so many thing floating around about the right ways to train for a marathon. For my marathon I was worn out after the long runs of 16 miles. I needed some inspiration and I know his book will give me more! He sounds amazing!

  11. I would love to read this book because I want a faster marathon time..working on my third marathon

  12. I would love to read this book because this is the first year I’ve been healthy enough to run a marathon– and I’m going to make it happen! After battling with an eating disorder for the past few years, I am finally taking care of myself and maintaining a healthy enough weight to get back to running! I’m so excited to start training (albeit, I will be starting with half-marathons though; better safe than sorry!)

  13. I’m a vegetarian who is about to start training for her first marathon!! This give-away could not have come at a more perfect time!

  14. I’d love to win it because I completed my first in April and was sorely disappointed with my time. I’m already planning the next but I need to change the game plan!!

  15. I would love to win “No Meat Athlete: Marathon Roadmap” so I can give it to my brother! He is a college student (working on his PhD!) and I think he would love to have this book. He recently got seriously into running and is now looking to cut out meat. Of course once he has read it I will ask to borrow it from him 🙂

  16. I’d love to read Matt’s book! I’ve been running for years but never raced. I think it could help motivate me to improve my running and maybe even give me the confidence to try out racing!

  17. I want to run my first marathon this year, and my mom thinks that on my vegetarian, high vegan diet, that I won’t have the protein necessary to do it. This book can prove her wrong 🙂

  18. I just signed up for my second marathon, and my New Year’s resolution to really focus on eating only local, organic meat has really caused me to think about meat consumption in general, so this would be a great book for this time in my life!

  19. Would love to win this book as I am tackling the Marine Corps Marathon in October and it will be my first Marathon as a No Meat Athlete.

  20. Just recently I started thinking about training for my first marathon. I have had two kids in the last 4 years and it feels good to be back in my old body and ready for new fitness goals. I would love to have this book to help in my journey.

  21. I want to win Matt’s book, because I want to continue improving with my overall race times and I want to break 4 hours and possibly qualify for Boston.

  22. I’d love to win because I’m running my first marathon in October and I know I need to clean up my diet and improve my training!

  23. I would love to win this book. I want to run a marathon this year and I have started to eat more vegatarian!

  24. I have been slowing incorporating vegetarian meals into my family’s meal planning. One concern I have for myself is how to do this successfully and still be able to endure my running regimen. Looks like this book will help ease my concern.

  25. I would like to win Matt’s e-book to make a solid start in running a marathon. I’ve never really thought myself capable, but I’ve always wanted to. I also have an interest in the vegetarian lifestyle, so the e-book would be a great way to address both.

  26. i want to win because i have tried to train for 2 marathons and keep getting injured. I have logged a few 18 milers, 20 milers and even a 22 miler, and i got a stress fracture during my 2 week taper. I take time off once this occurs, let it heal and 2 months later another injury appears. Its really frustrating to say the least. This book may help if i have a nutrition problem which could be the cause..

  27. I have just begun running in January, only able to run a 1/2 block to begin with, and now up to a full mile. Have ran two 5k’s since February as well. I’m pumped as I have health issues with autoimmune diseases and am pushing through the pain and feel so much better.

    Thank you for this opportunity.

  28. I want to win this book because I just completed my first half marathon and the idea of training for a marathon interests me.

  29. Im a newly veg and a long itme runner and could probably use all the info I can get. THis would be great

  30. AH! Well I signed up for Team Livestrong for the ING Marathon in November. Running from Couch to Marathon & would LOVE to soak up as many marathon tips as possible within the next few months. 🙂

  31. I would love to win this book! I follow Matt’s blog and have been toying around with training for a marathon, but am unsure where to start.
