Hey, hey!
I made a delicious bowl of oatmeal for breakfast this morning and, boy, was it satisfying. I forgot how filling a simple bowl of oatmeal can be!
This bowl of oatmeal was particularly satisfying because I added a little extra protein in the form of liquid egg whites. Egg whites mixed into oatmeal might sound a little weird, but if you get the measurement just right, you won’t even taste them, but you”ll still get the nutrient benefits of protein in your diet.
Between the egg whites, rolled oats, and the scoop of almond butter that I added just before eating, this breakfast packs around 20 grams of protein, which kept me full straight through until lunch. So if you’re looking for a tasty breakfast that will keep you going all morning long, this recipe is for you!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup rolled oats
- 2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/3 cup liquid egg whites (or two large egg whites)
- 1 tbsp dried cranberries
- 1 tbsp sliced almonds
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Directions
- Combine all ingredients in a pot on the stovetop.
- Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until oatmeal thickens to your desired consistency.
- Remove from heat, pour into a bowl, and serve with your favorite toppings, such as a scoop of nut butter for added protein and some healthy fats.

I love adding egg whites to my oatmeal. It gives it a nice texture, keeps me full for much longer and doesn’t alter the taste at all. Win-win in my books š
I know what I’m eating for breakfast this weekend! š
This sounds like perfect breakfast, or in my case, lunch today! I am also preggie (12w 3d), so I am always looking for more ways to get protein without necessarily eating gobs of meat/chicken (doesn’t sound good to me at this time). Thanks for the recipe! By the way, you look ADORABLE as a prego!
YUM! I just recently oatmeal made with egg whites this weekend and I’m obsessed! I used to be a big fan of protein powder mixed in with oatmeal but using egg whites is more natural and makes for a much bigger bowl! I’m pressed for time in the morning so I use the microwave. Simply nuke with water for a couple minutes, stir and add in egg whites, then nuke for a couple more minutes. Quick and simple!
That looks good. I will have to try the egg whites. I love oatmeal and have fun putting different ingredients in. Have a great day!
I am all about eggs and egg whites these days. I love love love adding egg whites to my oatmeal! Totally makes the difference in the full department. A plain bowl of oats is yummy but hardly satisfying to the appetite.
mmm, sounds good. I always want to try adding egg whites to my oats but i hate to waste a yolk.
Egg whites are a must in oats for me these days! I love the custard-like consistency they yield. So satisfying!
I never added egg whites to oatmeal before. Need to try this out and get some protein in my mornings!
I’ve never. Tried adding egg whites but now I want to!
I am so excited to try this for breakfast tomorrow morning!
Mmmm… I love the added egg for protein š And your photos are looking great!
That looks delicious!! I’m always working on increasing the protein content of my breakfast meal.
I think it’s finally time to try adding egg whites to my oats…any breakfast involving maple/cranberry/almond just sounds too good to pass up! And especially if it’s a good source of protein. Eating something like a typical bowl of cereal or bagel for breakfast will only hold me over for an hour or so. Love that I have all of these ingredients in my kitchen, too. š
I love oatmeal! Especially when it’s been so cold outside…Cranberries are a great idea. I need to try the egg white thing out too.
Yum love oatmeal and this looks DELICIOUS!
Mmmm. I love adding the whole egg to oatmeal…it makes it so much creamier! & you’re right, you can’t even taste it! I add egg yolks to smoothies too for the same reason…added good fats & creamy texture! Now I’m hungry…
This looks like a yummy winter time breakfast. As much as I love fruit and juice for breakfast when it’s hot out, there’s nothing like a hot bowl of oatmeal when I can barely crawl out of bed!
Yum! This looks great! I’ve been LOVING dried cranberries lately, so this sounds perfect to me.
Yum…I miss oatmeal and peanut/almond butter all the time! Any suggestions on how to make this “oatless”?

Yum! I need to try this in my morning oatmeal. I definitely notice that I get hungry early if I just make it with oats & milk!
That oatmeal looks amazing. I can’t wait to try it!
I love egg whites in my oatmeal! I really feel like it keeps me satisfied to so much longer than without them.
looks great! I never thought or heard of adding egg whites to oatmeal. I’ll have to try it out.
What is that green juice you’re drinking? That looks yummy too!
Yum. This is my breakfast every day, except I make mine with half oatbran from TJs and half oats. The bran makes them extra creamy. So good drizzled with coconut butter too!
DELISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This looks great! Love the almond butter! Have you ever made “oatmeal” with quinoa flakes?
I haven’t! Any good?
@Tina: I’m going to try this week! Will let you know š
delicious! Simple and easy oats are always great!
Adding egg whites is a genius idea! I sometimes avoid oatmeal because even when I add almonds I don’t feel it keeps me as full as my usual yogurt parfait.
Do you just use the store brand egg whites in the container or do you use your own eggs and separate? Thanks for sharing!
I buy liquid egg whites in the carton, but regular separated egg whites would work too!
@Tina: Thanks! I’m sorry-just realized you pointed that out in the recipe!
I need to try this. I have yet to find a breakfast that satisfies me until lunch time. I am usually found with my hand in a bag of trail mix around 10 am to keep the hangry me from coming out at work.
Definitely going to try this! Maybe with some raisins.
That looks amazing. I haven’t had oat meal in a while…makes me think I should!
Holy yum! Almond butter + oats = love! Sounds like a recipe I should try!
I have to say… I loathe oatmeal. I give it a go every so often but- ew. I was due for another try (its just such an easy option!) so I used your recipe today- loved it! No idea if its the almond butter or what, but I’m a fan! Finally!
