Happy Mamalete Day to all of the moms out there!

Mamalete

Mamalete Day is part of a new movement started by my friend Gia of Run Gia Run. Her goal is to inspire moms to live a healthy life and be fit for themselves and their children.

What makes a Mamalete?

Sweat.

A Mamalete is a woman who adores her sport. She knows that being active is part of her core, and she is a better person with a little sweat in her day.

Motivation.

A Mamalete knows how much her kids admire her for her dedication. She motivates their love for being active through the goals that she sets and achieves.

Love.

A Mamalete shares her love of fitness.  Both with her children but also to inspire them, and she is proud.

To celebrate Mamalete Day, please share a photo or video of a mamalete on social media””perhaps a pic of you rocking your favorite workout, sharing fitness with your children or your favorite mamalete moment. Be sure to hashtag your photo or video #mamalete to help spread the movement!

Gia asked me to answer the questions below as part of Mamalete Day, so I hope the mamaletes out there decide to answer them too!

Questions for Mamaletes

1. What is your favorite way to sweat?

CrossFit

2. What is your favorite activity to do being pregnant?

CrossFit (and eating Ben & Jerry’s ice cream).

3. How do you plan on reintroducing fitness into your life after your pregnancy?

CrossFit classes, workouts in our home gym, and running (eventually with a jogging stroller)!

4. What important lesson do you think your dedication to being an athlete will give to your child(ren)?

I hope it teaches them the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. And, of course, how FUN being an athlete can be!

5. Dream world… Down the line, let’s say your child is an Olympic athlete. What sport do they play?

If they were an Olympic athlete, seeing them play any sport would make me happy! How about them playing in the CrossFit Games or World Cup? Both of those would be cool!

-Favorite activity to do while pregnant would be walk/jogs with friends.
-I’ll hopefully get back in shape after the baby (this August!) by walking with the stroller and taking advantage of workout DVD’s & YouTube video’s while the lil’ one naps.

  2. I love the idea of supporting healthy mommas and mommas to be. I am currently preggo and have really enjoyed staying active, healthy and happy.

    1. I am a cardio queen – bring on spinning, running, and figure skating.
    2. My favorite activity has been cross training. My stamina is way down so long runs are difficult. Yoga has also been a staple.
    3. Can you say jogging stroller?!
    4. As a national competitor and collegiate athlete, I learned so much about life balance, self discipline, determination, inner strength and an appreciation for my body.
    5. I would love for my child to be a figure skater, but that is because I am so it is in my blood.

  3. Love this!!! Healthy active parents = healthy active kids :). P.s. I’m in your neck of the woods this weekend (Foxborough/Boston) and it’s a fantastic weekend weather-wise. Hope you’re able to get out and about :).

  4. I ran through my entire pregnancy and my son has been attending my races since he was born. I ran a marathon when he was just over a year old and I loved seeing him at the finish of 26 long miles. He walks over to me and say “mommies wunning shoes” and hands them to me so we can go outside. At 2.5 he loves running and will be doing his first race soon.
