Greetings from the Café Gato Rojo! I’m using my lunch break to blog! My boss actually suggested using this time so that I don’t need to “rob Peter to pay Paul” with my time. So far, I like his idea quite a lot. I feel like a writer camped-out at a cafe with my laptop and mug of tea! 😀  Hopefully, blogging at lunch will help me balance my work-blog life.

Once I got settled at the Cafe, I ordered a pot of genmaicha, a Japanese green tea combined with roasted brown rice. The tea is sometimes referred to as “popcorn tea” because a few grains of the rice pop during the roasting process and resemble popcorn. The tea flavor isn’t super strong, but a subtle brown rice/nutty flavor comes through nicely. And, the best part: the whole pot was $1! What a deal! Working on a college campus definitely has its perks! 😉

Check out the inside of the Café Gato Rojo:

The Café Gato Rojo is the cheapest, tastiest fair-trade coffee, teas and speciality drinks anywhere in Harvard Square. The cafe is completely student-run and a great place to hang out, study, meet people and avoid the over-priced, corporate cafes around the Square.

I love little cafes like this– with funky artwork, good tunes, mismatched dishes, and a laid-back vibe. I have a feeling that I will become a regular here!

Lunch

I broke into my lunch around 11:30 today. My stomach starting growling around 10:30, so an hour later, I was more than ready to eat! I started with carrot sticks and grape tomatoes.

And then moved onto a tuna salad sandwich from one of the dining halls on campus.

The tuna was mixed with chopped celery and served on the grainiest whole wheat bread ever. I love thick, grainy bread! Heaven!
