After my tour of the Hawaii Prince Hotel, I met Mal at the beach, which was just a short walk from the hotel.
We went swimming and worked on our tans for about an hour before we started to get hungry for lunch.
There were a bunch of bars and restaurants along the water, so we walked up the strip to check out the dining options. Our only requirement for lunch: outdoor seating. Us folks from the Northeast are easy to please!
We eventually decided on Tropics Bar & Grill, which had a nice-looking patio and a bunch of tasty options on the menu.
There was about a 15 minute wait for a table, so Mal and I headed over to the bar to get a drink.
When I sat down, the bartender handed me a drink menu, which was filled with pages and pages of colorful drink options. There were all sorts of usual cocktails and drinks to choose from!
After much debate (seriously, I spent a good 5 minutes trying to pick the best option), I went with the Lychee Acai Cooler, which was made with Absolut Berri Acai Vodka, Funkin Lychee Puree, Sprite, and Sweet n Sour mix.
It sounded like the most “tropical” option and, boy, was it delicious! It sort of reminded me of a sweet and sour peach ring gummy candy. Yum!
A little while later, our table was ready and we scored a great spot overlooking the beach.
Fresh lychee? Delicious!
Life is good.
For lunch, I ordered the Coconut Crusted Shrimp, which came with a housemade hot pepper jelly. Loved it.
Question of the Day
What’s your favorite “tropical” cocktail?
Mine: Skinny Piña Colada, Blue Crush from the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas (I drank like 10 of them in 4 days), and now the Lychee Acai Cooler.
I don’t have a favorite drink, but anything coconut-y is a winner in my book! 🙂
Looks like you guys are having a blast! My favorite cocktail is a mojito–I had 832 of them in Costa Rica last summer.
holy abs! both of you!
@kalli: i was gonna say the same thing! you guys look great.
Check out your six pack!! You look amazing. And Mal is seriously jacked!! Haha sorry, but we don’t usually see him sans shirt.
My all time favorite tropical drink is from right there in Hawaii..the lava flow. Ohhhh deliciousness!
Looks like a beautiful beach day! I LOVE pina coladas, but I’m a fan of most tropical drinks!
Does beer count as tropical? What if I put an umbrella in it and drink it on the beach?
You’re looking hot, lady.
Anything coconut! Mmmmmm
You gotta get the Lava Flow in Hawaii! Dukes has such good ones 🙂
@lindsay: I second the Lava Flow recommendation!!
What a lovely day!! Lunch by the beach looks divine. My favorite tropical cocktail is a mojito. Mint + lime + rum. YUM.
I love Daquries!
Looks gorgeous there!! And those coconut crusted shrimp look delicious. My favorite tropical cocktail is a Mai Tai 🙂
I love a good pina colada!
I haven’t had coconut shrimp is SO long! I want some now 🙂
Mhmm shrimp! Lucky you get to tan!
I don’t think I have a favorite tropical cocktail? Haha I haven’t been anywhere tropical since I turned 21, and I think I’ve only had a hurricane in New Orleans (haha not too tropical) which was delicious, and a strawberry daquiri, which I’ve always loved since I was little (virgin ones, of course…)
Have so much fun! We went to Waikiki on our honeymoon–I love seeing your pictures of all the familiar places 🙂
you’re getting me excited for my upcoming HI trip. looks like you guys are having a great time! while there, you have to hunt down a “real” mai tai. they’re made w/lime juice not pineapple juice.
Look at those abs! Girl, you are ripped! I hope you get nice and tan on the beaches. I’m living vicariously through you as it spits half snow half ice today!
I am a total sucker for any cocktail with lychee fruit in it. Yours looks like it was delicious! I’m a big fan of fruity drinks when it’s hot out.
Dang girl – you look incredible with those abs of steel, and Mal looks incredible too. Is that all because of crossfit? I need some ab advice…… 🙂 I am so glad y’all are having an awesome time!!!!
ok, i am totally living vicariously through you now. been wanting to go to hawaii for quite some time. now it’s time to convince the husband that we must go!
My favorite tropical drink is “The Lava Flow”, which I tried when I was in…..Hawaii! It is a blend of a pina colada and a strawberry daquiri. I couldn’t stop ordering them. I didn’t care that they were unhealthy. It was a vacation treat…well make that many treats! haha Tina, you need to try one! 🙂
Looks like you guys are having a great time!

I love anything with pineapple or mango! Though the pear lemonade on the menu would have drawn me in. Can’t beat good mojito either!
I don’t mean to sound pervy, but Mal and your 6 packs are “cores to be envied”. I raise a cocktail to your 6 packs. A blueberry mojita if I have a choice!
Life certainly does look good! So does your cocktail.
Margaritas all the way! Skinny margaritas actually, know that I know I can cut the cals, they decide just as good to me 🙂
Any kind of drink on a beach sounds amazing right now! You guys look like your having a blast!
Super cute bikini and you both look like you’re having a wonderful time. I love a good Margarita.
Dang! You two have some great abs!! Have fun 🙂
Mojitos!!! Always been a rum girl. I’ll be going to Miami soon to have one of the best mojitos in the world.
I like to drink…
I love mai tais, lava flows, pina coladas, tequila sunrises..etc. If you go to Cheeseburger in Paradise and buy a souvenir mug, they give you free refills as long as you bring your mug back..you don’t even have to put clothes on because they have a window outside you just bring it up to!
@Rachel @ Undercover Diva: A Sitcom: and that refers to soda…and not alcohol (unfortunately)
It looks beautiful in Hawaii! What I wouldn’t give to be lounging in patio seating with my husband right now. My fave cocktail is dirty martini- cant to wrong! I am obsessed with olives! Holy 6 pack, Tina! You look amazing!
Holy ABS, Batman! Lol. 🙂
I love tropical drinks! And the beach looks amazing!
WOWZA!! Look at those abs. CrossFit does a body good.
So jealous of your trip!
You have to try the Mai Tai and lava flow while in Hawaii. They are delicious like no other!!!
YUM! I’m all about pina coladas, definitely a favorite. Hope you’re having fun!
Wicked abs girl! Have a great vacation!
Tina you’re killing me with these beautiful weather posts. It’s sooo cold in Minnesota and I’m dying to be sippin’ a pina on the beach!
Tropical cocktails enjoyed outside by the beach…gah! It’s almost torture to see. As a fellow New Englander I’m basically hating life right now and counting the days till summer.
all you ate for lunch was four coconut shrimp??
That cocktail sounds delicious! I would’ve had a hard time choosing as well!!
That looks heavenly compared to the super cold temps and snow we’re getting here in Iowa! 🙂
As everyone else has said…girl, you look smokin’!
It’s a bit ridiculous how excited I am to read these Hawaii posts, it’s gorgeous there and I cannot wait to go–thanks so much for sharing with your readers so we can all vicariously enjoy the beach, sun and cocktail time 🙂
@Alissa: Oh, yes, and I like mojitos and caipiroscas (like a caipirinha, but with vodka instead of cachaca–you can get them with all kinds of different fruits, they are ah-mazing).
Sitting outside for a meal makes a world of difference in atmosphere – I love it. My favourite tropical drink would probably be a pina colada, but I haven’t had that many different ones.
Glad you and your abs are having such a great time! You and Mal look awesome! Is that due to Crossfit? I really need to get myself to a class!
I looove Mai Tais and I used to get the Ruby Relaxer at Ruby Tuesdays back in the day…which pretty much tastes like a Mai Tai!
Lychee is sooo good! I had a ton of drinks with Lychee in them when I was in Singapore (my favorite place in the world).
