Hi, friends! Happy Hump Day!
Quinn and I enjoyed a lovely lunch with my mom, sister, and Matthew at the Yard House yesterday afternoon. It was so nice to see them and catch up. (Matthew wasn’t sure what to make of Quinn! Haha!)
To start, we shared an order of the truffle fries, which are the bomb. In fact, they’re so good, I usually just order them as my meal + a couple of beers when I go to the Yard House. #pictureofhealth
For my meal, I went with a soup-and-sandwich combo: turkey club + French onion soup.
Quinn had lunch at the Yard House too!
After lunch, we wandered around Legacy Place for a little while and then popped into JP Licks for coffee and warming up. It was cold outside!
At JP Licks, I ordered a decaf soymilk latte, which was really good. It was so strong and full of flavor. Who knew JP Licks had such tasty espresso?!
While we warmed up and sipped our coffees at JP Licks, Quinn started to rub his eyes and get a little cranky, so I knew it was time to hit the road so he could nap. He passed out within seconds of getting in the car and slept the whole way home.
Back at home, Quinn and I played for awhile (he loves peekaboo) and waited for Mal to get home from school. When he got home, I headed out for a chilly, 50-minute run at Southfield. It was super windy yesterday, so I bundled up and then drove to Southfield in my nice, warm car. Haha! I didn’t start my run until almost 4:00 pm, and I knew the temperature was going to drop even more, so driving seemed like the perfect solution since I could stay warm for as long as possible and then return from my run to a warm car. Oh, and I could swing by the liquor store for wine on the way home. Boom. #wineme

When the cold weather arrives here in the Northeast, it makes it so much harder for me to get psyched about my outdoor workouts. The thought of standing outside, waiting for my GPS watch to load while enduring frigid temps and ice-cold winds makes me want to nix my run all together and curl up under a warm blanket on the couch.
Of course, I don’t want to spend the entire winter indoors and skipping my workouts, so I decided to change up my thinking about the cold weather starting right now. This way, instead of chickening out on my cold-weather workouts, my transition in thinking helps me better prepare myself for the weather, which ultimately makes bundling up for the great outdoors a little more enjoyable!
