Hi, friends!
My “Mostly ‘Normal’ Day of Eating” post was a big hit with you guys, so I decided to write another one. (Maybe it will be a regular feature on CNC again?) Yesterday was a fairly busy day for me. Mal watched Quinn while I worked like a mad woman, so I didn’t have much time to snack. I’m usually one of those “live to eat” people, but yesterday was definitely a “eat to live” kind of day. Haha! Basically, I ate a lot more meals and fewer snacks compared to my previous post, so I thought it would give you guys an idea how I eat on other days. That said, here is a recap of my eats from yesterday!
Breakfast – I woke up starving, so I made a big meal to start the day: Avocado toast with kosher salt, eggs with Sriracha, and Breakfast Potatoes, which looks like a small portion on my plate, but I ate a bunch while waiting for my eggs and toast to cook.
Lunch – I was working away like a maniac, so I didn’t even realize it was lunchtime until my stomach started to grumble. On the menu: A chicken patty from Trader Joe’s with half of a roasted sweet potato and rice, which were both cooked ahead of time, so I just reheated them in the microwave. And, of course, I squirted some Sriracha on top of everything. I love the heat!
Workout – KFIT arm- and lung-smoker. It was called “Jaws.”
Post-workout snack – I made a protein shake with SFH vanilla Recovery, iced coffee, and soy milk. I also ate a Carrot Spice Protein Bar from the freezer. (I just nuked it in the microwave.)
Dinner – I was feeling really lazy, so I threw together a sort of random meal, but it turned out pretty well. I mixed together canned chicken and jarred bruschetta (both from Trader Joe’s) and then threw it on top of some leftover rice. Boom. Dinner done.
Dessert – I ended the day with a Double Chocolate High Protein Mighty Muffin with a scoop of peanut butter. Mmm!

The 90’s lover in me is totally excited that plaid is back this year!
I love these posts! I am an eat to live person during the week… Just eating fast easy meals during the work days, but on the weekends I live to eat!
Live to eat, but there are times When that doesn’t hold true (fro-yo and PSL I’m lookin’ at you).
Congrats Gretchen!
I am a live to eat person. Love trying new recipes lately too!
@Jenn@ Mark My Miles!: Thank you Jenn!!
I’m more excited of a live to eat person too, but I know what you mean about those busy days when you just don’t have the time and it shifts to eat to live. Unavoidable!
If I’m at some sort of a food festival (or wine/beer festival haha), it’s definitely live to eat! Most other times it’s eat to live, unless we’re talking cookies or other sweet treats š
I’m a live to eat mostly except for days when I’m out on the road doing tastings or deliveries, then I need to be prepared or I won’t survive! š
Live to eat. I love food lol
I am so much of a live to eat person. Food and I are BFFs!
First of all, thank you so much for picking me as the winner! That just completely made my day š Thanks Tina!
I would say that I’m in between an eat to live and live to eat person. I definitely love eating and trying new foods, but I also make sure what I’m eating is going to help me live longer and healthier. I also really watch what I eat when I’m in training (like now) so it definitely feels like I’m eating to run right now!
Most days, I’m a live to eat person. I lovelovelove food and always look forward to eating! That said, I have days when I’m so busy that eating is more of an annoyance and then it’s all about eating quickly and getting back to work/errands/whatever!
I hate to say this but I am totally a live to eat girl. I am currently struggling with weight bc I truly feel addicted to food. I see things on the menu that I know are better options, but then other items catch my eye bc they are delicious. I can not resist the temptations! Any tips on how to make the healthier choice when the addiction is calling out for the less healthy option? I use the term addiction loosely, but I feel it is a real problem for me.
I must be missing out on the Sriracha sauce on everything trend, because it seems to be a popular way to season dishes. Yes, I love to see your eats … so keep these posts coming! Yay for avo toast!
I need those aprons and deer head in my life!
I’m definitely a live to eat person! I love food! I do, however, lose track of time on some days and have to just cram in whatever I can get but, for the most part, I make time for all my meals! And, I love the quick chicken and rice dinner…my husband works evenings, alot, so, I am always making quick one-dish dinner bowls like that! š
Definitely a live to eat-er. when I was little, my mom always said the only way she would know if I was REALLY sick was that I wouldn’t be into food. I LOVE food.
YAYAYAY Gretchen!! I hope you like the biotin.. I swear my hair and nails are thanking me after three weeks… looks so much better already š
As a kid I was an eat to live person. Nowadays I’m definitely more live to eat!
Eat to Live! Though, you can look at this in a few ways. The healthy whole foods keep my body healthy and mind strong, while the cheat meals and beers every so often keep my mind sane š
I would love it if you started recapping your food again! That was the main reason I started reading your blog, and then I stayed cause I fell in love with your little family and the positivity of your posts. It’s like a light and airy part of my day!
I go in between being a way eat to live and a live to eat person. Really depends on how busy I am and how much time I have to devote to actually eating haha
Live to eat, all the way! But like you and a lot of people, sometimes the day is so busy I end up not snacking.
Definitely live to eat! Hey Tina, have you tried the Siracha from Trader Joe’s? I’ve been wondering about it and we just ran out of ours.
I haven’t tried it yet. I actually didn’t know they carried it until you mentioned it. I’ll definitely keep a look out for it now! š
@Kirsten: Stick with the original! It’s not bad, but definitely not enough heat
Agreed@Kirsten: Agreed! Original is best! I love TJ’s products but sriracha has to be the original!
I love these posts and would also to see more of the grocery haul and meal planning posts you used to do!
Hey T, please keep these posts looove them!
Live to eat! Since I’m always hungry anyway, I might as well make sure what I eat is delicious and (usually) healthy! š
I am a live to eat woman all the way. I LOVE food. I bet you would love (i think) avocado pudding, Quinn too. Simply 1 avocado, 3 tablespoons cacao powder, 4 soaked medjool dates or 1/4 maple syrup, 1/4 water and optional 1-2 tablespoons of coconut butter or oil. It makes it more luscious. Throw in the blender, taste to make sure it’s to your liking (possible add more sweetner or cacao) and voila, healthy lovely pudding.

Sounds delicious!
That chicken and bruschetta actually looks pretty amazing! Will have to try it!
Yes to the plaid š
I love to eat, and I meal plan A LOT so it’s pretty central to me.
These foods look delicious! Most days I am an live to eat person but some days I just happen to eat to live. But food should not just be something you have to do in order to live. It should be fun and enjoyable!
I love food and living in NYC makes it hard NOT to enjoy a tasty meal frequently. However, since I became pregnant, I have learned to view food more as nutrition and fuel/function more than ever. Lately I’ve been too tired to cook a full meal after work most nights, so I’ll just throw together something easy like eggs + veggies. It’s all about protein in the third tri, so I’ll also eat Greek yogurt for snacks and “dessert.” Don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying ice cream, pizza and other treats, but after you “treat yourself” so many times it starts getting old!
i try to eat to live… but….. i just love food so much! I am NOT a heat person. I can’t do siracha, tapatio or whatever it’s called, none of that.
I would have to say now “live to eat” for sure
Eat to live is the best way to approach it. Easier said yhan done with our highly palatable foods these days!
I really enjoy eating foods that taste good to me, so for the most part I live to eat, but when I am busy and have other things going on, I definitely eat to live.
I am interested in how you plan meals and do food prep for the week. You seem to have so many easy-to-reheat snacks available, and I’d love to be at that point! Do you have a specific method (ie things you always buy at the grocery store, things you aim for in a weekly meal plan, quantities to be sure to have on hand)?
It’s all about Sunday Prep! I can go into detail in a future post, but if you search ‘weekly meal plans’ or ‘meal planning’ on CNC, there are A LOT of posts!
I love how you honor your hunger and have such a nice balance of healthy food and treats. You’re an inspiration to us all!
Love these post! It’s nice to get meal and snack ideas from you! Xoxoxo
