Yay! I love my new haircut! It looks a zillion times betterโ€โ€healthier and shiner with a nice, rich color. I feel like a new woman!

My hairdresser only cut off about an inch, but it made such a difference. My ends look so much healthier!

Lunch

Lunch was a random mix of goodies: scrambled eggs with spinach and bacon in a whole wheat wrap, sweet potato wedges, and a couple of Frosted Date-Nut Cookies. (Only one cookie is pictured, but I went back for a second one. They’re so good!)

Snack

A few hours later, I made myself a protein smoothie with banana, coconut milk, and a new protein powder that a friend of a friend sent Mal and me to try out. (FYI: Mal loves this stuff, and he has been drinking it almost everyday since we received it.) The โ€œFortifiedโ€ย variety that I tried this afternoon is a whey protein derived from grass fed, free-range cows.

The chocolate was really tasty and blended well with the other flavors in my smoothie, and it didn’t have a weird, chalky taste or anything like that. Sweet and smooth. The chocolate was also a nice change from my usual vanilla protein powder.

Off to walk the pug and then CrossFit! Wish me luck on 12.3!

  1. I love getting hairs cuts, definitely so refreshing! I myself need one badly haha, but I am waiting to go home to my normal hair girl, I get a little picky/nervous having new people do my hair ๐Ÿ™‚

    I love going to the salon, since I don’t have color i my hair I tend to procrastinate it, I should call for an appointment now lol

  4. I love the new color and your cut! I agree, even just a little trim feels awesome. I love getting haircuts; it’s one of my splurge although now I’ll wait 6-7 months in-between cuts. I live my stylist, she’s the only one to make my long hair not look so flat and dull and I can go longer in between cuts. Enjoy your workout tonight!

  5. I’ve been wondering about protein powders lately, which types people enjoy and the differences between whey/ plant/ rice etc. Glad to see a sustainably sourced whey powder, I’m going to have to look into that one. Have a blast at crossfit, looks like another tough workout!

  6. I need to have a haircut and color — but I’m afraid of coloring. Never colored before because I have a full head of black tresses. Anyone willing to recommend how do I tame those greys in between? Which color would work the best?

  7. My hair is the bane of my existence. I doubt I will ever make peace with it because I have a hug scar on one side of my head, thus I have less hair on that side and I have many cowlicks. I think my most embarrassing style was when I had a body perm on the top with layers and then long and straight on the sides. Ugghhh.

    What a coincidence….I have been meaning to try whey protein for a while now and bought a small pouch of MRM chocolate flavored whey protein this morning. I know it’s high in glutathione, a powerful anti-oxidant. Going to put it in a smoothie for breakfast in the morning.

      1. @Tina: pretty good! i did 7 rounds + 32 reps. i made the bad decision to do back/front squats the night before, working up to my 1 RM. my legs were definitely feeling it on those box jumps and push presses!

  9. i know what you mean, a little haircut and color can make such a huge difference. lately i’ve been having issues with whites.. so annoying, i’m so young for white hair, but thanks to my mom. and i look like 5 years younger after highlights. ๐Ÿ™‚
