Let the Training Begin

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots β€˜N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Look what was waiting for me when I arrived home last night:

It’s my packet of information for Team in Training and the Honolulu Marathon. Inside was a TNT participant manual, a runner’s guide, ideas for raising money, our team training schedule, and lots of other goodies.

Training officially started yesterday with 30 minutes of crossing training. I guess I’ll count my 6-mile run as cross training! πŸ˜‰ Today is a rest day, which works out well because Mal and I are looking at a couple of houses later this morning and I need to get my life in order after being away for a week and a half!

You can see the rest of my training schedule for the week here.

And, if you’d like to donate to Team in Training, you can donate to Team Haupert here. (Mal is running the marathon with me too! πŸ˜€ )

I slept for 9 hours last night and feel amazing this morning. I’m pretty much back to “normal.” πŸ˜‰

I started my day with an iced coffee + chocolate Amazing Grass + skim milk drink. I don’t usually like Amazing Grass, but the chocolate flavor is tasty mixed with iced coffee and milk.

To eat, I enjoyed some overnight oats made with oats, skim milk, ground flaxseed meal, honey-glazed cashews, and Barney Butter.

House hunting time!

  1. I’ve tried the Amazing Grass once and felt like I was going to yack. I still have a packet in the pantry for that reason. Maybe I’ll try that chocolate one though…

  2. How exciting to have the official stuff for the marathon. Makes it so much more real.

The only time I tried Amazing Grass was while I was sick to try and get more nutrients and couldn’t stomach it. I just bought a small chocolate kids one at WF to give it another try. Crossing my fingers.

  3. How nice that it ended up being a rest day for you. That works out perfectly for the day after travel. Hope you find some good houses.

  4. It is SO amazing that you are doing the honolulu marathon. That moment of completing it, I can only imagine, will be one of the most amazing feelings in the world. Enjoy the ride! Or run, I should say πŸ˜‰

  5. That’s so exciting! Good luck with training – I’m sure you’ll be great! And you have Mal to do it with, which makes it even better. Such a great experience. And in Hawaii – I’m getting a little jealous πŸ™‚

  6. Best of luck with the house hunting, I am in the thick of it myself. The other day my husband and I looked at 13 houses in an afternoon! It’s very exciting but definitely stress inducing as well so remember to appreciate the excitement of it and enjoy!

  7. Awesome! Good luck training and raising money as well as house hunting! Try not to get discouraged if you don’t find anything you like right away – it took us about 3 months and we were ready to give up when we walked into the house we ended up loving (and buying!) Seriously, we said after that weekend if we didn’t find anything we were just going to resign our lease. The universe works in mysterious ways πŸ™‚

  8. Enjoy house hunting! I’d be thrilled coming into training with a rest day too! So great to count the “fun” group six miler towards your training. Looking forward to the house recap

  9. ok you are running the Honolulu marathon, I was wondering! I’ve been on vacation and was behind a few blog posts. That’s so awesome! Oahu is such a beautiful island. You’ll have great views the entire race for sure.

    have a blast house hunting!

  10. I’m so excited for you to begin this journey. You will have some good runs and some really bad ones! The best part of training: You will learn how STRONG you can be during the BAD runs. You will grow the most through your bad runs than the good ones. The bad runs will help you get through the marathon when it comes to race time. Good luck, lady!

  11. Fun! I love house hunting. I think I’ll be a real estate agent in my next life…

Just a tip I learned with Amazing Grass… I can see that your drink looks a little gritty. If you whisk your milk and the grass separately first (or just a little bit of water works really good too), you avoid the clumpy gritty bits. Hope that helps you like the Grass more!

  12. You should apply to be on House Hunters and let them help you search for a house. Being a celebrity and all, you would have a good chance of being chosen and we would all love to see you and Mal on TV!

  13. Way to go on signing up for the marathon. Training with a group will make the experience all the better (plus, great pick of an amazing marathon spot)! Best of luck on your training =)
