Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots β€˜N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

This is the first weekend in months (maybe years?) that I don’t have a single thing planned. Amazing, right? I’m sure that I’ll end up doing something, but there’s nothing on my calendar for two full days. The weekend is totally wide open! I love that! πŸ˜€

I missed out on some veggies in my diet yesterday, so I made sure to load up today. I started with a homemade salad of romaine, tomatoes, carrots, dry roasted edamame, and balsamic vinegar.

Speaking of salads, check out Sabrina’s I Love Salad! Challenge. Such a great idea!

For lunch, I also made a batch of Roasted Broccoli. (Yes, I am obsessed with this recipe.)

I rounded out lunch with a banana and a chocolate-flavored Oikos.

Blog: Peace, Love, and Running

Hello CNC readers! I’m so pumped to be featured on one of the best blogs out there! This year, I am running my 2nd Boston Marathon. I’m actually running it as a β€Λœtune-up’ for the Bayshore Marathon which I will run 5 weeks later. I hope to break my PR of 3:18:07 at that marathon. I’m so excited to be coming back to Boston this year and will be running it with a friend who is a Boston virgin! The town and crowd support (of amazing people like Tina) make this race an experience unlike any other. I am psyched to see where I am at training wise at this point (detailed on my blog). I’m crossing my fingers that the weather holds out and I can’t wait to be at the starting line. Good luck to all runners!

I’m 27 years old and from Syracuse, NY–the winter weather here makes Boston training interesting, to say the least! I’ve run four marathons (Marine Corps three times, Palm Beaches once), including two Boston qualifiers. I was training for Boston last year but got a stress fracture three weeks prior to race day, so this has been a long time coming and I can’t wait to finally do this!

My name is Claire Pringle, I am 23, and I currently live in Philadelphia. I’ve been running competitively since high school, so about 10 years! This is my first time running the Boston Marathon, but is my fourth marathon. I’ve run Philadelphia twice and PR’ed at the Virginia Beach Shamrock Marathon last spring with a time of 3:20:10! I’m in the first wave at Boston and my bib is 8894, so please look for me and cheer me on! Spectators’ encouragement is so helpful in getting me through these races.

Bostonians, where are you watching the marathon on Monday?

Mal and I have a fun date night planned tonight! I might even wear a dress! πŸ˜‰

P.S. If you’ve been wanting to buy something from my OpenSky shop, you can save 10% today with the coupon 10fromTina. Happy Friday!

  1. I’m so amazed by all these runners profiles. What impresses me is that they’re real, relatable people. It makes a marathon seem so much more “doable” compared to reading about ryan hall and whoever else.
Sadly, I’ll be watching it from TV in RI πŸ™

  2. I ran Boston last year and can’t wait to do it again! My next big race is the 2010 NYC Marathon. Sub-3:40 or bust, woo!

I like to eat salad for lunch on Fridays so I can have a bit more leeway on Friday nights. Yay, treats!

  3. i feel like i haven’t worn a dress for a date in forever – no that’s not true, i happened to go on a date when i was already wearing one for another event…that doesn’t count though, right? come summer, it’ll be dresses all the time1

  4. Enjoy your FREE weekend!!!! (actually if you are really bored you can always check out the Marathon expo, lots of great vendors, also some great seminars by Runner’s World too!)

I am getting so pumped for the marathon! Just had a pre-Boston pow-wow with my mom, she is headed down tomorrow and then I’m joining them on Sunday. Hoping the weather remains good, fingers crossed! (glad it is not today, blech!)

  5. Hey, reading some of your tweets today, please don’t delete your blogroll…I think they are a great way to find and read other people’s sites.

  6. I always watch the marathon at the intersection of mass ave and commonwealth (right by the bridge). It’s so fun to see the runners at their final mile of the race and really pushing until the end. My best friend runs every year so it’s great to be able to cheer him on in the final stretch. I’m going to the Marathon Expo with him today and CANNOT WAIT!

  7. Date night…ooo fun! You guys always have such fun dates that make me jealous. Maybe I’ll convince Hunni we should have date night tomorrow at one of the cool restaurants we saw driving around the other day.

  8. Good luck to all the Boston runners! Unfortunately, I’ll be at work. Hospitals don’t close but I’ll be cheering you on from my office for sure!!

  9. Good luck to those speedy ladies! If I see them I will cheer!

Have fun with your free weekend. Take advantage of some relaxing “you time”!

  10. My calendar was full of family time and now my husband is making a quick trip to Chicago for the weekend. Now I need to find something to do with myself and my two little guys! It is going to be so pretty. I am thinking outside is the way to you!

  11. hi tina! it’s so nice to not have anything planned. i love weekends like those. mine will be pretty uneventful, except for the national food bloggers bake sale tomorrow morning! i’m super excited for it. are you participating in it? i thought i saw you comment on gaby’s blog somewhere about helping in boston, so i’m just wondering! have a wonderful weekend!!

  12. I love dresses! There are so many fun ones out now. Target and Kohl’s has some great ones in stock now. It seems everyday a new shipment arrives! Have a great time with Mal tonight!
