If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, you probably figured out what I was doing in Milwaukee yesterday. If not, I’ll tell ya right now!

As part of a campaign with Fitfluential, I was invited by the Koss Corporation to attend a special media product launch of their new female-focused headphone line, which was co-designed by five-time Olympian, Dara Torres. Check ”˜em out below! How fun are the colors?

The new Koss Fit Series are headphones designed for women by women. The female design team at Koss partnered with Torres to design two different models of headphones: FitClips, which use an over-the-ear design to ensure the perfect fit, and FitBuds, which are the smallest earbuds Koss has ever created. They’re just six millimeters””perfect for women’s smaller ears. Both of these headphones are sweat-resistant and come in five different colors.

When I arrived at the event, I was given a goodie bag with a couple of Koss “Fit 4 life” shirts inside and directed toward the locker room to change into workout gear for a private spinning class with Dara Torres later that morning. Once I was dressed, I met up with a bunch of Fitfluential ladies and then had a chance to speak with Michael J. Koss, the President and CEO of Koss, as well as John C. Koss, who is the founder of the Koss Corporation.

While we were chatting, John told us he was 83 years old, so Sarah asked him if he still works and goes into the office at Koss. His reply: “Yes, I go in and complain a lot and then go to lunch.” Haha! It was so fun to talk with him.

A little while later, Michael Koss thanked everyone for coming to the product launch and then introduced Dara, who briefly spoke about the design process for the headphones. She explained that she visited the Koss Corporation and worked with designers to create a prototype. From there, she shared her thoughts and provided feedback on it””from the overall design to the colors (the coral is her favorite)””in order to develop the final product.

After we heard from Dara, everyone got ready for spinning. Each bike had a pair of the FitClip headphones on the seat, so each of us had a chance to try them for ourselves.

John Koss made sure he didn’t miss any of the spinning action!

Ok, he didn’t take the spin class with us, but he peddled in his suit for awhile. I heard he’s actually a pretty active guy, especially for his age. Rumor has it that he works out 3-4 days a week, and, on his birthday every year, he does an unassisted headstand at his birthday party. How cool is that?! He definitely embodies Koss’ “Fit 4 life.”

When we were getting our bikes and headphones set up for the class, Dara came over and helped Sarah with hers.

No big deal. (Seriously, how cool is that??)

Ready to ride!

The spin class was a lot of fun. It lasted 45-minutes and included a lot of hills. My buns were burning by the end! Spinning is definitely one of those activities where you get out what you put in.

The Fitfluential gang post-workout!

After spinning, I grabbed a quick bite to eat: pizza!

Then, we had a chance to chat with Dara, who was incredibly friendly, open, and engaging. She talked with us for a good 15-20 minutes and answered every single question we threw at her. Some tidbits from our conversation:

  • She recently moved from Florida to Massachusetts.
  • Her new home has a gym in it, which she referred to as her “woman cave.” Some of the equipment in her home gym: two spin bikes, an arc trainer, recumbent bike, Bosu ball, stability ball, and a weight machine that does a ton of different exercises.
  • She works out 5-6 days a week, which includes 1-2 runs.
  • She doesn’t drink alcohol. In college, she was so into swimming, she never really drank and just never developed a taste for alcohol.
  • She couldn’t pinpoint a favorite moment from the 2008 Olympics (there were so many of them), but she said she appreciated the experience a lot more (than her first Olympics at 17 years old) because she had to work harder and overcome so many obstacles to get there.

Fitfluential + Dara Torres!

What a great opportunity! I loved meeting Dara Torres and trying the new Koss headphones (full review coming next week along with a giveaway). Koss and Fitfluential, thank you so much for inviting me to this special event!
