So, I have some exciting news to share with you, which may or may not involve running another race, but let’s first do breakfast.

Breakfast

I tried something a little different for breakfast this morning. I have a bunch of leftover brown rice in the refrigerator that I don’t want to go to waste, so I’m trying to incorporate into my meals and snacks, including today’s breakfast.

In the mix:

  • Cooked brown rice
  • Cooked bulgur
  • Soy milk
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Chia seeds
  • Peanut butter

I just combined all of the ingredients (minus the peanut butter) in a pot and cooked until the blueberries were defrosted and the grain mixture got a little bit creamy. I added a spoonful of peanut butter at the end.

Ok, are you ready for my exciting news?!?

I’m running the More Magazine | Fitness Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon in New York City!! Oops, I did it again!

Thomas Bagel Thins, who were one of the sponsors of the Healthy Living Summit (so I already love them), is sponsoring me as a runner for the race! I’m a big fan of their Bagel Thins, especially before a long run, so I gladly agreed to participate.

Of course, I’ll take you guys along for my adventures in New York City, but I’ll also be guest blogging over on the Thomas Bagel Thins Facebook page about running, training, motivation, and more. My buddy, Caitlin, has her first post featured today, so be sure to check it out!

  4. that’s great! I am training now for my first half marathon! i was going to do that one but it’s 2 laps around the central park loop and i got into the NYC half which is one loop and then we go through the streets down into Battery Park! I currently train in the loop; be careful of Heartbreak Hill!!! i’m so excited i hope i can finish! it’s March 20th!!!

  5. In my house.. at this very second.. my beautiful weimeraner is destroying my house.. and possibly terrorizing my malti-poo… I am thinking crate training might be my only option..

  7. In my house my husband and I are incredibly goofy. We practically have our own language that outsiders would not understand if we ever let anyone hear us speaking to each other like this. 🙂

  8. One word of advice: HILLS! Practice your hills – The Central Park loop (you’ll be running two+ loops in the half) is nothing but nothing rolls plus one giant hill in the North West corner of the park. It is .75mile of non-stop incline, followed by steep downhill, then another mill of constant mini hills. So don’t skip your hill workouts for this race!

  9. good luck on your race! I just signed up for my first FULL marathon! I keep calling it a half :-/ so I have to keep reminding myself it’s actually a full. I’m so nervous!

  10. In my house 2 teenagers scream and yell. Husband plays shoot em up video games and I constantly cook up a storm. Happiest house around! 🙂
