We had quite the July 4 celebration!! šŸ™‚

We headed down to our friends’ house in Centerville on Cape Cod the night before July 4th and stayed through most of the holiday the next day. As a way to recap, I wanted to switch things up and share some snapshots with timestamps from our mini vacation away. I hope you enjoy it! šŸ™‚

July 3

We were up and at ’em on Wednesday morning with last-minute packing, breakfast and other activities before we started our drive down to the Cape. Breakfast was a rice cake with ground flax (I’m still seed cycling), pumpkin butter, cinnamon, and banana slices. Mmm! It was delicious, nutritious, and super satisfying!

And, of course, iced coffee with collagen and caramel-flavored Nutpods was on the agenda. I swear, my day always goes better with this combo in-hand! šŸ™‚

Then, it was time to pack up the car and hit the road. Our first stop was the “dog spa” where Murphy spent the night with our new dog sitter and her four pups. (He had a great time, btw!)

Less than an hour later, we drove over the Sagamore Bridge onto Cape Cod! (Have I mentioned how much I love living on the South Shore?)

We stayed with our friends for the night, so once we arrived at their house and got settled, we all headed out to the nearby beach. It was mid-morning, and I was feeling especially snack-y, so I broke out a bag of snap peas. Mal and I have been on such a snap pea kick, and we’ve been crushing bags lately. The organic ones from Whole Foods are especially amazing and so great as a beach snack!

A short while later, the ice cream truck arrived, and Quinn came running out of the water ready for a treat! He picked a Ninja Turtle ice cream and ate it while taking a break from swimming.

About an hour later, it was nap time for our friends’ kids, so we packed up and headed back to their place to hang out. Quinn was actually feeling pretty tired himself, so he asked to take a nap as well. The guys headed out to check out a local brewery while the ladies stayed at home with wine and snacks while the little ones napped.

Quinn changed his mind about a nap, so he came downstairs and played Play-Doh with us. The dentist set was a big hit!

Once nap time was over, we all headed out for an early bird dinner. I can’t remember the restaurant’s name, but it was very dark inside and the food was just so-so.

After dinner we took a family walk, but I forgot my phone in the car, so I didn’t snap any pictures. After that, we put the kiddos to bed and stayed up talking, laughing, and singing late into the night! šŸ™‚

July 4th

The next morning, we were awake bright and early and ready to celebrate America’s birthday! Our first stop: Dunkin for iced coffee and munchkins! I ordered an iced decaf with a splash of milk.

The munchkins, of course, were in big hit with everyone. I have a newfound appreciation for glazed munchkins from Dunkin and must have eaten about a half dozen myself!

Once everyone was ready for the day, we headed out to breakfast at The Daily Paper, which was a great spot. It was really busy, but we didn’t wait long for a table and the food and service were excellent. The menu was great with quite a few gluten-free options. I highly recommend it if you’re in the Hyannis area!

After breakfast, we stopped home to change into our bathing suits and pack up our cars for another trip to the beach. But, first, we made sure to snap a quick family photo of our patriotic garb for the day! šŸ™‚

My star tank is from Target last year, but I found this one from Old Navy, which is super cute and on sale! My shorts are, of course, the Caslon Rolled Denim Boyfriend Shorts, which I pretty much wear non-stop in the summer! More favorite shorts in this post.

The beach was a lot of fun! It was super hot, so we spent a lot of time swimming around in the ocean with our friends. Good times!

After the beach, it was time to head home for nap time. Quinn didn’t want to nap, so he stayed up and snuggled with me on the couch while we waited for the little ones to wake up.

Apparently, Quinn’s decision backfired because when we left the house to go out for a late lunch, he fell fast asleep in the car. Even when I got him out of his car seat and and started to carry him towards the restaurant, he was still so exhausted and slept on me for quite awhile during lunch. Quinn rarely naps on me nowadays, so I soaked up every minute of it. I love snuggling with my “baby.”

My rainbow hat is from theĀ RUN PROUD line at Brooks. I lovvvveee it. Itā€™s definitely my go-to summer hat! My top is from Nordstrom!

For lunch, we went to Anejo Mexican Bistro. The drinks and food were awesome – definitely check it out if you are in the area! šŸ™‚ I ordered a smokey margarita with spicy salt, and it was incredible!

Our sweet boy snoozed through the first half of lunch!

Thankfully, Quinn woke up to eat 2 bites of his cheese quesadilla (he said he wasn’t hungry) before we needed to find a spot for the July 4th parade! The boys absolutely loved it, especially the candy that was thrown from the various vehicles and participants!

We concluded our Fourth of July celebration with a trip to the Beechtree Taqueria for a drink with our friends before heading home. The restaurant is absolutely breathtaking and such a cool spot to have a drink or grab dinner. I definitely want to visit again, but without kids – it would be quite the romantic date night!

The end.
