It’s Watchathon Week

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

A couple of hours after lunch yesterday, I had a craving for something cold and creamy””specifically, a “Bananas Foster” smoothie, which I’ve made almost every day since I created the recipe for last week. (FYI: I think it’ll be published next week.) It’s so frickin’ good. It’s basically a dessert smoothie, but the recipe calls for a couple of different flavored extracts, so it’s not crazy-high in calories, but tastes amazing. Obviously, I’m a little obsessed with it.

I took my smoothie to go because Murphy and I had places to be and people to see! Smiling seniors = best thing ever.

Pug Therapy

When we got home from visiting, I took Murphy for his afternoon walk and then finished up some work.

It wasn’t quite dinnertime yet, and Mal was at CrossFit and I didn’t want to eat without him, so I snacked on some guacamole and crackers to hold me over. While I snacked, I watched a couple of episodes of Girls.

PSA for the Comcast/XFINITY subscribers: It’s Watchathon Week!!!

From now until the end of the month, you can watch current or most recent seasons of all sorts of great TV shows, including Game of Thrones, Dexter, Duck Dynasty, Downtown Abbey, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and Girls. Obviously, I’m going to be very busy for the next few days!

At first, Murphy was really into Girls, especially when he saw some puppies in the second episode. Like me, he thinks pug puppies are the cutest!

By the third episode, however, he was over it. The drama those girls create is exhausting.

When Mal got home from CrossFit, we planned to tackle our newest home project together:

Yep, our new fridge doesn’t fit below our cabinet. I guess that’s what happens when you impulsively buy a major kitchen appliance and don’t bother to measure anything. Oops.

Moving the cabinet up a couple of inches actually seems like a pretty easy project, but, unfortunately, our power drill is wussy and couldn’t remove all of the screws. We’re hoping we can borrow our neighbor’s drill or we’ll just buy a more powerful drill tonight. Oh, the fun of owning a home! Haha!

Once I realized our fridge-cabinet project wasn’t going to happen, I made dinner for Mal and me. I cooked some extra spaghetti squash on Monday night when we had Chicken Bacon Alfredo, so all I had to do was add some tomato sauce, Trader Joe’s turkey meatballs, and nuke it all in the microwave. Dinner was served in less than 5 minutes!

After dinner,  I snacked on some dates and a couple of handfuls of Chocolate Chex.

Mal, Murphy, and I spent the rest of the night chilling on the couch, watching TV, and, of course, watching the announcement of Open WOD 13.4. Clean & Jerks at 95 pounds… yikes!

This is a pug burrito. They smell like Fritos.

Questions of the Day

What TV show are you loving right now?

Does your pet ever watch TV?

Is there anything cuter than a pug burrito?

P.S. The code for free shipping (cnc303) on Flip Belts is only good until the end of the month (Saturday). Flip Belts are great for training runs!

  1. I’m addicted to The Following! I’ve also been enjoying Elementary this season…along with all my old favorites. I watch too much TV!

  2. Do you find you’re enjoying eating more starchy carbs these days (gluten-free breads, Chex, etc.)? Has it affected your energy levels or fitness at all?

  3. My doxie smells like fritos too when he sleeps!! I’m loving the show “New Girl” with Zooey Deschanel. Oh my gosh, it is hilarious and parallels my life. Moose (my dog) does a lot of sleeping and will sometimes watch TV, but if you want him to stop what he’s doing and come into a room, play Snoop Dogg’s “Drop it Like its Hot.” Not sure what it is about that song, but he LOVES it and will come into whatever room is playing it and just sit down.

  4. Right now Mark and I are obsessed with Game of Thrones! The new season starts Sunday so we’re re-watching the entire last season to prepare!

  5. I think I am going to finally buy a FlipBelt. Thanks for the heads up about the shipping. Do you remember what size you bought and if it was true to size? Do you wear it around your waist or hips?

  6. My dog will only watch if I put on a video of my boyfriend (he’s her favorite). She will cry and tilt her head and cry constantly because she is so confused and doesn’t know where he is.

  7. I had no idea that this week was Watchathon week! I’ve been wanting to start watching Girls – guess I’ll be busy the rest of the day. Thanks for sharing!

  8. What type of marinara sauce do you like? I have had a hard time finding a brand that doesn’t have all sorts of weirdness added to it.

  9. I enjoy watching Spartacus, Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, and The Walking dead. My dog watches all the shows. I love Bananas foster. Haagen Daaz had a limited edition of Banana foster ice cream. Can’t wait to try your recipe! I love your paleo morning glory muffins and the OMG pancakes- so delicious. I’m so glad I found your blog!!!

  10. LOVING the new show, The Americans. Good stuff. Kind of has an “Alias” feel to it.

Cuter than a pug burrito? YES! We call it a kitty taco in my house. 🙂

  11. HA! My parents bought the same sort of refrigerator and it didn’t fit in their kitchen either. My dad ended up having to knock out a wall to get it in to place!

  12. My show obsession is Parenthood but the season ended in January. I can’t WAIT until fall! I also really like Guiliana and Bill’s reality show. I think she’s great 🙂

  13. Didn’t you cancel your cable? I thought I saw that on Instagram or something. I’m just curious b/c I was thinking of cancelling ours. Did the antenna not work out?

  14. There is 1 show our pekingese ALWAYS watches when we do, Americas Funniest Videos, its the cutes thing 🙂 I don’t know what it is but we always catch her watching.

  15. I watch a ton of shows but I don’t love very many. I actually just posted this morning about the most recent episode of New Girl and how usually I don’t love the show but a line last week had me actually cracking up.

  16. Murphy is so, so cute! Especially as a pug burrito 🙂

I love Modern Family and Dexter, but I’ve been a bit out of the loop with the latest season of Dexter since travelling and not having a TV. I need to catch up!

  17. Because of you and other bloggers I have finally found a love for avacado. I never liked it or gave it a chance, now I want it with every meal. It’s sooo delicious in my belly. I love that you think the dog smells like fritos. I actually call my little dog frito boy. I actually love the smell though. hahah. I’ll grab his paw and sniff it a little…okay that might actually be a little weird.

  18. I am loving Nashville, Grey’s Anatomy, and Modern Family (of course, always).
There is probably nothing cuter than a pug burrito, gotta admit.
Jealous of your guacomole. I have a lot of avocados (thank-you Costco) but no chips. AHHHH

  19. I am OBSESSED with “Archer”! Then my kid went and broke our DVD player box thing so I can’t stream Netflix to the TV, so now I can’t finish Season 3. Why is life so hard?!?

Oh God, Murphy kills me. I just want to eat him.

  20. I must admit, I watch the Kardashian shows on E. Can’t help myself. Other than that, I watched Dr. Oz today because I was a guest on today’s episode! Other than that, I don’t watch much TV these days..I used to put the TV on for my toy poodle. I think she liked it.

  21. Your smoothies sounds so yummy! I saw you have the clean food cook book. I have it too and love it! I like how it is divided into seasons. Favorite TV show right would be Survivor, my husband is crazy for it and I just started watching. It is very addicting!

  22. I’m a reality tv junkie and live on Bravo, so I’m all about the Real Housewives franchise! A new series just started called Married to Medicine, and so far I’m hooked! There has to be group therapy sessions for this kind of addiction!

Good luck with the kitchen cabinet…Speedy repairs!

  23. Ahh I absolutely LOVE Girls…Such a great show. It’s getting a little crazy with Hannah though…But I still love just how REAL it is. And I know I am late, but that is awesome that you and Murphy are visiting Senior Centres…You really are making their day!!! 🙂 Thank you.

  24. Loving Once Upon a Time and The Good Wife. Also watching Veronica Mars episodes from the start as I never watched it but since they are making that movie and it got funded so quickly I thought I should check it out.

  25. My dog loves watching anything with animals (especially the Planet Earth series) and Star Trek. Totally random! I think it’s the alien noises that draw her attention.

What kind of crackers did you eat with the guac? Looks like the box says hazelnuts…I’m intrigued!

  26. Love the pics of Murphy! Thanks for the reminder about Watchathon Week! I saw an ad for that last week but completely forgot about it until I read your post. Can’t wait to catch up on Mad Men and Homeland!
