Hi, friends! Sorry to leave you hanging about my exciting news, but it’s for a good reason since it involves my news. You ready?
I’ve spent the past two days at a live workshop with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) to get some hands-on experience with client assessment, exercise technique, and program design. Do you see where I am going with this? That’s right, friends, I’m studying to get my personal trainer certification through NASM!
This certification has actually been a long time coming. Remember when I studied for the NASM exam back in 2009, but never took the test? There have been a bunch of times over the years that I thought about studying for it again, but the time was never right. Well, the time is right now!
I started studying again for the NASM exam in late-August, so I plan to take it (and pass!) before the end of the year. I want to use my new fitness knowledge and credentials to better CNC, specifically by writing more fitness-focused posts and creating some really awesome workouts to share. I also want to do some personal training on the side.
Phew. I’m so glad that I finally told you guys. I felt like I was keeping a big secret! I’m on my lunch break right now, so I have to get back to the workshop, but I’ll be sure to keep you guys in the loop about getting my personal trainer certification and future plans. I’m excited!

Tina, I love reading your blog, it makes me happy every time. I am sure you are gonna pass your test and be a great personal trainer. I love you. You are such a good influence on young people like me. You are great role model. I love Murphy too š
Aww, thank you so much! š
what an exciting announcement! so excited for you, tina.
Congratulations! That is very exciting! I just got a Yoga certification this past October (my first cert) along with my boyfriend (who is already a certified personal trainer). I love having a boyfriend who is very knowledgeable in the training world (plus it’s like a have a free personal, live-in trainer hehe). Good luck when you go take the test – I bet you’ll do great!
ohh congratulations! Just curious, how did you decide between ACSM and NASM? I’m only familiar with ACSM and have thought about becoming certified but I’m not sure just yet.
My initial reason was because a lot of my trainer friends recommended NASM since it’s a very reputable certification in the fitness industry. Also, quite a few of the gyms around here are looking for NASM trainers, so I figured it was my best bet. I’ll write a post with more specifics about NASM soon!
Congratulations on gearing up to take the test! You will make an AMAZING personal trainer! š
You are going to love being a personal trainer! I love teaching and it makes me feel good about myself even as I am injured!

Congrats, Tina! I’ve been a NASM trainer since 2009, and really love it. The training is one of the better ones out there, and you really learn so much of what you need as a trainer. If you have any questions about the process at all or anything the like, feel free to reach out.
Do you have any study tips? š
Awesome! Doesn’t it feel great to make progress towards achieving your aspirations?
Yes! š
