It’s Time to Fess Up

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hi, friends! Sorry to leave you hanging about my exciting news, but it’s for a good reason since it involves my news. You ready?

I’ve spent the past two days at a live workshop with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) to get some hands-on experience with client assessment, exercise technique, and program design. Do you see where I am going with this? That’s right, friends, I’m studying to get my personal trainer certification through NASM!

This certification has actually been a long time coming. Remember when I studied for the NASM exam back in 2009, but never took the test? There have been a bunch of times over the years that I thought about studying for it again, but the time was never right. Well, the time is right now!

I started studying again for the NASM exam in late-August, so I plan to take it (and pass!) before the end of the year. I want to use my new fitness knowledge and credentials to better CNC, specifically by writing more fitness-focused posts and creating some really awesome workouts to share. I also want to do some personal training on the side.

Phew. I’m so glad that I finally told you guys. I felt like I was keeping a big secret! I’m on my lunch break right now, so I have to get back to the workshop, but I’ll be sure to keep you guys in the loop about getting my personal trainer certification and future plans. I’m excited!

  1. Tina, I love reading your blog, it makes me happy every time. I am sure you are gonna pass your test and be a great personal trainer. I love you. You are such a good influence on young people like me. You are great role model. I love Murphy too 🙂

  2. Congratulations! That is very exciting! I just got a Yoga certification this past October (my first cert) along with my boyfriend (who is already a certified personal trainer). I love having a boyfriend who is very knowledgeable in the training world (plus it’s like a have a free personal, live-in trainer hehe). Good luck when you go take the test – I bet you’ll do great!

    1. My initial reason was because a lot of my trainer friends recommended NASM since it’s a very reputable certification in the fitness industry. Also, quite a few of the gyms around here are looking for NASM trainers, so I figured it was my best bet. I’ll write a post with more specifics about NASM soon!

  3. Best wishes!
People are going to love hitting you up for free advice as well as complaining about exercise/not knowing how to start exercising right in front of you and not think to ask you!

  4. Awesome news, you will be a great personal trainer! Good luck! I am also preparing for mine & taking it in 2 weeks!

  5. i was wondering if you were ever going to go this route again

i know there is another type of exercise conference next weekend in Boston that some of my trainer friends are going to.

  6. Congrats, Tina! I’ve been a NASM trainer since 2009, and really love it. The training is one of the better ones out there, and you really learn so much of what you need as a trainer. If you have any questions about the process at all or anything the like, feel free to reach out.

  7. Happy to help in anway with the exam- I took it about four years ago… it’s a doozy! But, if you study and know your phys of the body you’ll be all set!

  8. Congrats Tina!!! That’s so awesome, I know this will be such a great venture for you; you’ve been showing this passion a lot on the blog and I can’t wait to see the changes that come!! Best of luck 🙂

  9. YAY!! So exciting. 🙂 You will be an AWESOME personal trainer and can’t wait to see the new training-related content here on CNC, too! Miss you! xo

  10. Congrats! That’s awesome news! I can’t wait to see what the future CNC will bring. I’m so looking forward to workout routines and new fitness ideas. You’ll do great on the test!

  11. That’s great! I would loveloveLOVE if you could talk about the specifics of NASM, because I want to get certified, but don’t have any clue which program to choose.

  12. Tina! What an inspiration you are to those around you and those in the blogging world! Congratulations and best wishes! Hopefully I’ll be the first person to sign up so you can get me fit!!!

  13. Awesome news, Tina! I think this will be a great addition to CNC, but I also think it is good that you will be able to share your knowledge hands on as well 🙂 you’ve got a lot to offer!
