Clearly, I am a huge football fan. π
IΒ honestly didn’t know today was Super Bowl Sunday until Dave texted Mal last night to ask if we had plans to watch it. The Super Bowl wasn’t really on our radar (mostly because the Patriots aren’t playing in it), so weΒ didn’t plan to do anything special for it. We haven’t hung out in Dave and Marie in ages, so we decided to get together at our place for dinner, drinks, and football watching.
For our get-together, Mal and I threw together a simple Sunday Bowl spread, complete with chips + salsa, beer, Doritos (because of the pug video), and ingredients for make-your-own tacos.
I’m actually sort ofΒ looking forward to the Super Bowl now. Isn’t it all about the food anyway?
[Rewind to this morning]
Workout
After breakfast, I headed to the gym for a quickie workout. I ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill in just over 32 minutes (9:09 pace) and called it a day. I love those quick and dirty workouts!
Lunch
For lunch, I whipped up a Banana Bread Smoothie, which turned out really well. I’m still surprised! The flavor reminded me so much of freshly baked banana bread. ThisΒ recipe is definitely a keeper!
In the mix:
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 scoop of vanilla protein powderΒ
- 1 tablespoon of ground flaxseed meal
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 cup Almond Breeze
I also munched on a couple of Livin’ Spoonful crackers for lunch.
For those of you watching the Super Bowl, which team are you cheering for?
I’m cheering for the same team as Ellen! π

STEELERS!
Not watching. Curling up with my laptop and 2 weeks’ worth of missed The Office and 30 Rock. π
Not sure who I’m cheering for. I had no clue it was today either. I’m more of a college football gal myself. I even watched some of the Nat’l Championship game during labor. LOL
I’m not ccheering for anyone, but I’m watching for the commercials.
i’m watching, but not the teams. the commercials!!!
i saw bethenny frankel (love her!) on Ellen last week and she said the best superbowl meal for hosting friends was make-your-own tacos!!! good job : )
i’m bummed brady isn’t playing too, but was wicked excited when i hear he and bellichick won their awards!!
Bah, I’m not really watching. Actually, I take that back – I’ll watch the commercials. Since my beloved PATS are not there, who really cares right?! π
Exactly! π
We are having a “Super Bowl Feast” as my eldest daughter likes to call it… but mostly I just made a bunch of food that I can re-heat and serve again tomorrow night at Bunco, when the REAL games begin π
Things are pretty Super-Bowl crazy here in Wisconsin (Go Pack Go!), but honestly I was MORE excited for the Puppy Bowl!! Two straight hours of watching puppies play with one another? Now that’s must-see TV for me!
CNC for the Packers?!?!?!?!?! I’m going to assume it’s just b/c you love Ellen. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STEELERS!
No clue who to cheer for, to be honest it doesn’t really matter to me, I just hope it is an exciting game!
We had tacos for lunch, it is so easy for a big group of people!
Yay, thanks for cheering on the Packers! Naturally, I am cheering for them also because I am from Wisconsin. π
haha im with ya! im cheering for the same team as ELLEN!!! especially considering she totally won oprah’s network from her by betting on the packers (rather than oprah’s very own chicago bears…).. π
haha i laughed out LOUD when i was reading your entry and you had your food all laid out and THAT is what it took for you to “finally be excited for the super bowl”. hahaha love it.
The snacks are practically the best part of the Super Bowl, have fun!
I’ll be cheering on the Packers… even though I really don’t care about either team this year. The Super Bowl’s really all about the food for me anyway (unless my team happens to be playing) π
Yay! I’m cheering for the same team as Ellen too! π
I’m rooting for the Packers, but I really don’t care at all. My husband and I decided to skip parties this year- it’s just not worth being tired tomorrow since we both don’t care that much (this year- if the Pats were in it, different story). I’m hoping to finish one of my books and catch up on blogs while watching it haha.
The Superbowl is totally not on my radar either. I’ll be watching a movie while my husband keeps an eye on what is going on… although hes not really invested either.
Steelers, but only because the bf is from Pittsburgh. We’re drinking Yuengling and eating homemade Primanti’s sandwiches!
I’m with you…it’s all about the food….I’m having some butternut squash fries and veggie “chicken” fingers….mmmm!
HAHAHA your post title is my same question π
You are so cute! I am cheering for the Packers because I like Aaron Rodgers. He just seems like a nice guy. LOL! Oh, and I am totally going to try your banana bread smoothie…great idea!
Not watching at all this year π don’t care about the teams, not too excited about the commercials…!
xoxo
s
Im cheering for a trip to the mall. which i am going to right now.
HAVE FUN! π
Packers..I think, but I’m kinda indifferent:)
Make your own tacos is a great idea for a get together! I don’t really care about football either.
Love the spread–have fun!!
Ha! That’ s hilarious. I was trying to find out if it were Superbowl Sunday today, earlier. It really is all about the food.
Jess π
Tina’s rootin’ for the Pack- WOOHOO- makes me love ya even more π
I don’t even know who’s playing, so I guess I’m not rooting for either π
This is the first Super Bowl in years where I don’t care about either team – I just don’t like Rothlisberger! I’m trying to put a dent in all of my accumulated homework! A little bummed to be missing out on parties, because I’m HUNGRY – but I suppose I’ll thank myself later, right?
Oh, so I’m cheering for the Packer’s. As much as a Redkin’s fan can ever cheer for a non-Redskins team. =) Enjoy the game and the commercials!
What a delicious spread! I’m jealous! Have fun!
i’m still hoping the bears will make an apperance. :p
Your so right. The super bowl is all about the food.
I am not into the Super Bowl either. I do love how Ellen always sends some fans to the game though. She is hysterical I feel like I am constantly saying to my husband, “Today on Ellen…” π
Loved the pug commercial. My pug gets like that sometimes. I agree I miss the Pats.
I don’t care who wins…..but I love pretzels during the game day π
I love football but I am so not into the super bowl this year; I don’t know what it is. But I do know they are replaying the real housewives reunion tonight π
You’re totally making me want doritos and tacos – next grocery trip maybe.
For me the game would be all about the food. We will be watching a movie!
Good spread. Yum. I’m hanging in for the commercials.
Me too! Go packers!
PS – the doritos commercial was hilarious and totally reminded me of Murphy!
I love the idea of a make-your-own taco station for a party!!
I’m a Packers girl tonight!
I definitely didn’t care about the superbowl at all without the Pat’s. I’m just watching for the commercials and hoping to stay up for Glee!
GO STEELERS!!! I’m doing 3 pushups per point the Packers score to release some anger, lol. So far, my arms are very sore π halftime blog readings helps though!
Good choice on cheering for the Packers! π
It’s been a good game so far!
Go Pack Go!!
Almond milk is mesa favorite!!! π
I’m not a huge football fan either! π But I’d definitely join in on the food eating!
I’m not into football much, but I find it fun to watch with my boyfriend when we’re hanging out. For some reason, I don’t enjoy it in other venues much. (Go Steelers)
