Good morning, friends!
If you’re like me, you’re all about getting protein in your diet. Of course, it’s really important when it comes to my workouts, but it’s also key for controlling my cravings and keeping me full, especially when it comes to my first meal of the day. Breakfast always sets the tone for my healthy habits, so I make sure it’s a good one. Typically, my breakfast is a mix of carbohydrates and fat with a healthy dose of protein to keep me full until lunchtime.
When The Vitamin Shoppe reached out about working together again, I was immediately on board. They recently introduced a new category in their stores and online called “Protein Pantry,” which includes a specially curated assortment of 40 protein-packed foods, including pancake mixes, nut butters, powdered peanut butter, and more.
I liked what I saw and thought you guys would definitely want to learn more about these products (holy nut delicious butters!), especially if you’re tired of powders and shakes and looking for new ways to add more protein to your diet.
Ok, are you ready for this?! Here are some insanely delicious ways/new products to power up your breakfast!
HIGH PROTEIN NUT BUTTERS
Guys, the nut butters available in the Protein Pantry are phenomenal. Phenomenal. The P28 High Protein White Chocolate Spread, in particular, is basically dessert in peanut butter form, but, at the same time, it’s loaded with protein (14g per serving). It tastes especially amazing swirled into a warm bowl of oatmeal, blended into a smoothie, or spread onto a rice cake as a quick snack. I’ve put this peanut butter on everything lately!
And the P28 brand makes all sorts of wonderful spread flavors, including Caramel Turtle (must buy!!!) and Banana Raisin (imagine this mixed into oatmeal or spread onto a thick piece of toast).
Buff Bake also makes a tasty White Chocolate Peanut Butter, but theirs has chia, hemp, flax seed, and protein mixed in. Their version isn’t as thick as the P28, but it has nearly as much protein per seving (13g) and 50 fewer calories.
Buff Bakes also makes a Snickerdoodle Protein Almond Spread that has similar calorie and fat counts compared to regular almond butter, but has double the protein and tastes heavenly… just like a snickerdoodle and not artificial. It’s easily my favorite of the high-protein nut butters that I’ve tried.
In fact, I loved this almond butter so much, I turned it into a single-serving protein cookie and it turned out so well. To make: In a ramekin, mix 2 tablespoons of Snickerdoodle Protein Almond Spread with 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of liquid egg whites, and 1 tablespoon of rolled oats. Then, pop it into the microwave for 30 seconds. Mmm!
Another tasty spread that you might like is Chocolate Fudge Cake Batter Protein Infused Almond Fluffbutter from D’s Naturals. It’s dairy-free, soy-free, vegan, gluten-free, and has no sugar added.
PROTEIN PANCAKE MIXES
If you crave pancakes for breakfast, here are some awesome high-protein, non-GMO options. The High Protein White Chocolate Pancake Mix from P28 is a tasty and healthy alternative to your average pancakes. And, hello, they have actual white chocolate chips in them. You can’t beat that!
The About Time Protein Pancake Mixes are awesome too. They’re loaded with protein, light and fluffy, and come in two flavors (chocolate chip and cinnamon spice). They’re also gluten-free. Pro-tip: Under-cook these pancakes a little bit for a yummy muffin-like texture!
PROTEIN MUFFINS
As a FlapJacked Ambassador, I already know and love the FlapJacked products, so I was psyched to see the Might Muffins included in the Protein Pantry. I absolutely love the Probiotic Mighty Muffin Double Chocolate and often enjoy one after dinner as a sweet treat. However, I sometimes eat the Apple Cinnamon Mighty Muffin, along with a smoothie, for breakfast. The combination of the two keeps me full for hours.
