Mal and I have a great group of friends. They’re nice people and they’re always up for something fun– like a Beer Pentathlon!
When everyone arrived at my in-laws house, we organized the Beer Pentathlon. Mal and I had an idea what we wanted to do, but we figured getting everyone’s input would make the event a lot more fun. We ended up having five teams of two competing in five different beer games.
For the five events, we picked: Cornhole, Polish Horseshoes, Beruit, Flip Cup, and Dizzy Bat.
The first event of the day was Cornhole. Mal was my partner and we started off really strong by winning two games.
For Polish Horseshoes, however, we didn’t do as well. Actually, we got killed. 😕
These guys were nasty! They were easily the Polish Horseshoe winners and crushed everyone.
After two rounds of games, we took a break to cool off and fire-up the grill.
It was so hot yesterday, even Murphy went in the pool!
Pug pool party! 😀
The grill:
For dinner, I had grilled portabella caps.
Salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, red bell peppers, and Romano cheese.
Cold white bean salad with red onion, spinach, and Athenos feta.
My plate had a little bit of everything, including a piece of grilled pineapple, which was SO yummy! I also ate like a million Doritos over the course of the day.
Team Haupert!
After halftime, we started on the next event, which was Beruit. Mal and I did okay, but a couple of the other teams were much better.
Flip Cup was intense… and hilarious! 😆
Again, Mal and I did pretty well, but we didn’t win.
After Flip Cup, we decided that we had enough to drink, so we didn’t end up playing Dizzy Bat. (We’re getting old!) Even still, it was such a fun time. We’ll definitely do again!
If you’re wondering, Dave and Marie were the ultimate Beer Pentathlon winners!! They’re really good at beer games! 😀
And this post would not be complete without mentioning our enthusiastic and supportive spectators at the Independence Day Beer Pentathlon:
Murphy! 😀
Bella!
Ping!
Grady!
Yesterday was awesome! I loved being outside, playing games, and hanging out with good friends. My body, however, needs a serious detox! Back on track today.
How was your 4th of July?

Looks like a fun day! I played some bags for the 4th as well (aka cornhole). And I’m so glad you labeled the beer pong picture as Beirut, or I would have been totally lost as to what that game was!
love it. i had a very similar fourth…”yard gam’olympics” which included bocci, washer toss, ladder ball, corn hole and polish horseshoes (we never made it to polish horseshoes for the same reason as you guys!) so fun! love yard games 🙂
