Exciting News: I’m Running the 2015 Boston Marathon with Team Stonyfield

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.


An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Heyyyyyy! I just wanted to share a quick recap of this morning before I tell you some really exciting news.

My day started with scrambled eggs and home fries (olive oil + Montreal Steak Seasoning) with ketchup.

Side note about the home fries: Mal went grocery shopping this past weekend and there was a little confusion with the list that I made for him, so we are now the proud owners of 10 pounds of russet potatoes, which means we’ll be eating a whole lot of them in the next couple of weeks. Haha! If you have a favorite potato recipe, please send it my way!

After breakfast, I took Murphy for his morning walk. Mal usually walks Murphy in the morning, but he had an errand to run before school, so I was on pug duty. Walking Murph with the stroller is definitely a challenge at times, but he’s getting better at it. Hey, at this point, I’m just glad he still has all four pug legs! Kidding! He’s only gotten slightly run over a couple of times now and he didn’t care at all. He’s just such a daredevil with the stroller, I worry about him!

The three of us walked for about 45 minutes before I dropped Murphy off at home and then took Quinn in the jogging stroller for a run.

We ran 3 miles together while I listened to podcasts and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather. It was such a nice way to start the day!

After my run, I refueled with a second iced coffee and a toasted English muffin with peanut butter and banana slices on top. It was the perfect post-run snack/second breakfast.

Speaking of running, I have the most exciting news EVER to share with you guys!!

Stonyfield is the official yogurt sponsor of the Boston Marathon and they asked me, along with seven other awesome mom runners, to participate in the 2015 Boston Marathon as members of Team Stonyfield! Holy cow! Isn’t that incredible!?

Obviously, I am beyond psyched about this opportunity. Marathon Monday is my most favorite day of the year and running the Boston Marathon has always been a huge dream of mine. I still can’t believe it! Ahhhh!

This opportunity is one of the most exciting things to ever happened to me, so along the way leading up to the marathon, I will be sharing my experiences on CNC””everything from long runs to recovery meals to balancing parenting with training””I’ll do my best to document it all.

I’m really looking forward to getting back into long distance running again. I haven’t run a marathon since 2011 and my last half marathon was a year ago when I was 8 weeks pregnant, so I definitely have some work to do to get ready for 26.2 miles, but I seriously can’t wait to get started.

And, of course, I am so happy to be working with Stonyfield again, especially after how much yogurt I ate during my pregnancy! Haha! They’re a fabulous group of people and a wonderful brand, and I am so, so, so grateful that they asked me to be part of Team Stonyfield. I hope you guys are ready to join me on this journey. It’s going to be a fun (and challenging) one, no doubt!



  1. Yay! Excited to train with you and get to know you over the next few months as we train for Boston. My Daisy dog is the same way with the jogging stroller. There are times when her leash gets wrapped around the wheel. Silly dogs.

  3. Wow I’m impressed! If you do some long runs with the jogging stroller I’m sure it will make it seem much easier on race day 🙂 Q might be a great training buddy!

  7. How exciting! Congrats! It must be fun (and a bit intimidating) to have a new goal to start working on and to have something to look forward to in the spring. Here’s hoping we have a mild winter so you can train outside! Can’t wait to follow along!

    1. I actually never said that because I always knew I wanted to run Bostom someday, and I am SO EXCITED I will finally have the chance! 😄

  12. Well hot damn! I can’t help but be jealous! Good luck with the training–give yourself plenty of time to recover, but I found that the training actually help my Crohn’s a lot!

  13. That is so amazing, good luck in the marathon and with training! I thought that was hilarious about the “confusion” with the grocery list and now having 10 lbs of potatoes- sounds like my life! Lots of breakfast potatoes!

  14. I admit, I am not a big fan of people getting to run Boston without qualifying. I worked my ass off for a spot in 2015 and it chaps mine a little that people are just handed a spot.

      1. Ive run 5 marathons for charity and raised over 20k for cancer research. I think thats worthy of a number 🙂

      I agree 100% Allison. I have friends that worked their asses off, BQed but still didn’t get in next year. And there are corporations out there handing out spots.

    2. @Allison: I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old. Tonight after bath time they both wanted the monkey towel. The older one thought she should get the monkey towel b/c she had not had a time out all day (and my younger daughter had) and my younger daughter thought she should get it b/c she asked first. Instead of just screaming – NO ONE GETS THE MONKEY TOWEL – I gave it to my younger daughter. I looked at my older daughter who looked like she was about to cry and said, girls, sometimes people get what you want. There are two ways to handle it – you can cry and feel sorry for yourself OR you can choose to be happy for the person who got it and take a moment to be thankful for what you have. They both made confused faces at me – it was obviously over there heads – I hope it is not over yours.

  15. I’m recovering from a major illness, and getting ready to start a running program. Really excited to see how you do it. . .although my goal is much smaller, a 5K, I’m looking forward to getting inspiration from your posts!
