Hi, guys! Happy, happy, HAPPY Friday to you!

We have a low-key weekend planned, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. Anyone else love when their weekend isn’t totally jam-packed? We have plans with friends on Saturday evening and then a birthday party on Sunday afternoon, but, other than that, wide open!

I  also wanted to tell you guys that I started a private CNC community group on Facebook as an additional way to connect with you guys. Obviously, the blog is a great place to communicate, but I personally find myself on Facebook quite a lot, so I thought it would be a convenient place to interact, especially with one another because I know we have a lot in common as a group. If you’re interested, just request to join: Carrots ‘N’ Cake Community Group. I hope to see you there!

So, it’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time for the next edition of What I’m Loving Lately, which is quite the mix of health-related goodies, including a bunch that will benefit your mind, body, and soul. Enjoy!

HomeDNA Healthy Weight Test – I had the opportunity to take the Healthy Weight DNA Test from HomeDNA, and, my gosh, the results are interesting. The test basically looks at your genes to create an individualized approach to finding your healthy weight. It’s a simple cheek swab test that you just drop in the mail. A few weeks later, your results are emailed to you. Super simple. My 72-page report came with all sorts of interesting information as well as advice for optimizing my diet and fitness, right down to telling me what to eat and how to exercise. There was even a custom meal plan and fitness plan at the end. How cool is that? The results were much more detailed than I expected, and I’m definitely going to give some of the recommendations a try and see how they go!

Pug Trainer – This video is so amazing. I seriously couldn’t stop smiling and giggling as I watched it. I mean, Murphy and I have trained together like this for YEARS now, so it was fun to see the “pug trainer” in action. Haha!

This is Why You Don’t SUCCEED: One of the Best Motivational Speeches Ever – This talk is mostly about Millennials in the workplace, but a lot of what is said is related to technology and social media. It definitely hit home for me with regard to my addiction to my phone.

The Five-Minute Journal: A Happier You in 5 Minutes a Day – After the conference in Austin last week, we received a copy of The Five-Minute Journal, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. After reading The ONE Thing on the plane last week, I’m all about finding balance in my life and not being so consumed by work (and phone). This journal has already helped me feel more optimistic and aware of the good things in my life. I find that I’m counting my blessings a lot more often instead of getting stuck on the negative.

Dr. Sarah Ballantyne on Autoimmune Paleo on the Straight Up Paleo Podcast – I know a good amount about autoimmune disease and diet, but, whoa, Sarah Ballantyne blew my mind with some of what she talked about. If this topic interests you, definitely check it out!

Coffee-flavored tea – I’m cutting back on my coffee consumption (I’m trying the AIP diet – blog post coming next week), so I got some coffee-flavored tea to try out, and it’s really good. It’s definitely not coffee, but it’s an awesome alternative. It’s made with tea and roasted coffee beans (as well as almond and vanilla flavors), so there’s some caffeine in it, but much less than coffee. Even though I drink decaf most of the time, it can still upset the GI system, so I’m trying to drink less and if I do drink coffee to make sure I consume it with food.

Local readers: Wegmans is opening a Natick location and it will have a full-service Mexican restaurant and tequila bar. How fun! Grocery shopping and booze in one trip!
