Hi, guys! Happy Friday!

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know that I’m in San Diego with Kerrie for the Fitness Business Summit, so we can learn ALLTHETHINGS and network our butts off for Designed to Fit Nutrition. I’m also looking forward to some SUNSHINE and hopefully some drinks by the pool. Woohoo! Ok, so it’s Friday, which means it’s time for another edition of What I’m Loving Lately, which includes quite the mix of favorites this week. Enjoy!

The Capital One Café at the Derby Street Shoppes (aka the new DTFN office) – Kerrie and I bump into each other here ALL the time. It’s funny because we’ll be WhatsApp-ing each all morning long and then we’ll both end up at the Cafe, which, of course, makes communication even easier! It’s also the perfect place to work because it’s beautiful inside with high ceilings, big open windows, free wi-fi, mini conference rooms, and a Peet’s Coffee, which, if you have a Captial One card, you get half off your coffee purchase. I actually already had a savings account with Captial One, so I opened up a (free) checking account with a debit card just for half-price coffee! My account is actually called “Coffee Account.” Haha! And, since I get this question quite a lot from friends in real life, the cafe IS a bank too, but it’s at the back and the employees don’t try to sell you anything. You can just go in, work, read a book, and do your thing without being a Capital One customer. And, finally, just had to share this because I thought it was really cool: The ATM in the front entrance gives EXACT dollar amounts, not just $20s. I mean, sometimes you need 5-dollar bills or singles, right? If you’re local, it’s definitely worth checking out, especially if you work from home and NEED to get out of the house every once in awhile!

Cozy and casual clothing for travel – I’m especially loving these two tops from Champion: Champion Women’s Fleece Full-Zip Hoodie and Champion Women’s French Terry Crew, which are both lightweight, soft, and stylish and totally affordable at just $23 and $15, respectively.

I’m also loving casual, but stylish spring fashion! Some favorites Cross Front Tee, Crop Skinny Jeans (only $59), and Washed V-Neck Tee (only $17), and Wendy Hooded Jacket.

And, finally, I’m loving gray slip-on/top-sider sneakers. I actually went to buy the Sperry ones that I’ve been obsessing over, but then I stumbled upon the Ralph Lauren Janis, which are on sale for just $39.99 and even cuter. I had them in my shopping cart, ready to hit purchase, but then I saw another pair from Sperry in the sidebar. Ahh, decisions!! Which ones would you pick?

Best Fiends – This game is so fun! Mal and I play all the time after Qman goes to bed. It’s totally addictive! Best Fiends is a FREE puzzle game where you collect characters by matching same-colored objects to defeat slugs. Yep, slugs. Haha! You can actually play this game without wifi, so it’s perfect for plane rides and road trips, too!

If you’re in the market for a new game, here’s a little incentive: The first 100 readers to download this FREE game and get to level 10 will get $4.99 worth of gold and diamonds for free! Just click here to download Best Fiends for FREE! Best Fiends has a ton of in-game events and challenges. I’m on level 19, so if you want to play against me, just let me know what level you’re on! Smile

Slow Cooker Chili Lime Rotisserie Chicken My gosh, this recipe is SO EASY, SO DELICIOUS, and SO AFFORDABLE! Whole chickens were recently on sale at Whole Foods, so I picked one up for this recipe. It turned out so well, and it will definitely become a staple in our house!

The recipe is actually from Real Food Slow Cooker Recipes, an ebook from Rubies & Radishes that we cook from ALL the time. The recipes are so simple and so tasty! It’s perfect for people who are busy, but want to eat a healthy diet too. With the right ingredients and a slow cooker, this ebook makes is easy to eat nutritious, flavorful meals! Each recipe is strictly Paleo and Whole30-friendly, so no grains, dairy, sugar, natural sweeteners, legumes or alcohol– just real food and flavor. And you can try ALL of them! Use the code CARROTS30 at checkout and get 30% off the ebook! Trust me, you’ll love it! 🙂

Working out with Diastasis Recti – This is such a great resource! I was meaning to write a similar post myself since I had/have DR, but Gina did an amazing job, so I’ll just link you there! 🙂

Silicone Non-Stick Baking Mats – I don’t know why I waited so long to get some of these! They make baking/cooking/roasting veggies 8,000 times easier!!

Boxed (aka Costco delivered to your front door) – I know that I’ve mentioned Boxed a zillion times in the past, but it’s really amazing. We order from it ALL the time. On Tuesday, I ordered diapers, toilet paper, trash bags, and Honey Nut Cheerios (all in bulk), and my box of goodies arrived on our front door step less than 24 hours later. It doesn’t get easier than that!

Orangetheory at Home Workout – I can’t wait until I’m back to my OTF workouts! My hip is almost 100% healthy! Until then, I love that I have this workout to guide my gym workouts.

Protein Dessert Dip + sliced apples – Oh my gosh, this is the best snack ever, especially at the end of the night when I still have some protein to consume for the day. Here’s how to make it: In a small bowl, mix together: 1/2 scoop (16 grams) protein powder (I used SFH Churro), 1 tbsp creamy nut butter (I used cashew butter), and 1 tbsp chocolate almond milk. Slice apple and dip! 🙂 Macros: P 15 C 7 F 7

Question of the Day

Have you ever visited San Diego? Where can we get a good donut?

Just a quick note: I am sometimes compensated through my affiliate links in this post, but, as always, all opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting CNC!

  1. I just got two shirts like that with the criss cross in the front- Loving that style. We have a capital cafe here in SF too and it’s great! Hope they open more of those. I’ve never been to SD, but wish I could help… I hear they have great beer though!

  2. I cannot read your posts anymore due to the jumping around of the paragraphs. I keep asking and you’ve not answered and no one in my personal life knows why it happens either. I suspect it’s ads, but???? Anyone else having this problem? I read dozens of blogs and it never happens except here. Thanks for any input.

    1. @Dana: I have the same problem! If I grab the scroll bar with my cursor (from my desktop), I can pull the bar down past the jumping point. But, I agree this is the only site I have that problem. FYI if this helps!

  3. I don’t think we got donuts in San Diego, but the Baked Bear has the best ice cream creations! I LOVE San Diego! Enjoy!

  4. Hi! If you’re staying Downtown in San Diego, you haveeeee to go to Donut Bar!!!! It’s life changing. Snickers in a donut, pop tarts in a donut – so good. Make sure you go early because they sell out!

  5. Hey Tina! Definitely do the top Sperry’s love those. I live in San Diego, and my favorite Donut shop is Donut Bar in downtown. The Donut’s are as big as your face and delicious, also I suggest getting a cold brew coffee with coconut syrup so good I hope you enjoy your time here!

  6. San Diego is one of my favorite spots, but my time is usually spent at the beach! I’m in awe of your coffee shop- half off coffee?! I’d have a separate coffee card, too.

  7. Doughnut bar! There’s always a long wait so go early or preorder a dozen and make new friends 🙂 we just moved away from sd in July

  8. Love San Diego! I don’t have a rec on donuts but walk around Balboa Park if you can. It’s really pretty!

I was going to say the top Sperrys for sure but I also love the middle Ralph Lauren ones. Can’t go wrong with either one. I may need to get a pair of those too but can’t decide which color.

  9. Thank you SO much for posting the link about Diastasis Recti. I have a horrible case of it, and I saw a physical therapist, but I really need more information and motivation for at home workouts to help improve it.

  10. LOVE OTF! I actually just returned after a 3 month hiatus for a hip flexor injury myself. Unfortunately, I’m not really sure what happened – just started experiencing pain during an outdoor run one day in December. I love the loud music, bursts of cardio, and supportive atmosphere!

  11. I’m obsessed with all kinds of slip ons, especially now that it’s spring weather and a little too early for flip flops. And I really need to invest in those baking mats, I go through like a roll of parchement paper every two weeks from all the things I roast!

  12. Oh man! So awesome. San Diego is on my must-visit list. And I have decided that this spring is the year that I buy some Sperry loafers. They are so cute and fashionable!

  13. Plug for Boxed- I use it and love it – Chieh Huang (https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestreptalks/2016/10/19/costco-for-millennials-how-chieh-huang-built-boxed-a-mobile-juggernaut-with-100m-in-revenue/#703d8a9c2adb) the founder and CEO is seriously an amazing guy. He went to my alma mater and spoke at a couple workshops I’ve attended. He’s accessible, generous, kind-hearted, very smart and funny. He even gives out his email address to students at my school and is totally willing to help with networking, referrals, career or personal advice. Also, during one of the talks I heard him give, he talked about family and health and really knew what mattered- not money and business success. Consider using Boxed just for that reason alone! Plus he has offered to pay for all of his employee’s children’s college educations. Great company!!

  14. Ordered the top sperry shoes after you last posted about them!! I wore them once and got some pretty bad blisters, but I think that happens with most new shoes – so I’ll just have to work on breaking them in. Otherwise I am loving them!!

I wasn’t able to click to get the chili lime chicken recipe you posted. Do I have to purchase the ebook to get it?

I also have the issue someone else is describing about it being hard to read your posts because the ads don’t let me scroll sometimes – just FYI!

If you head up to the OC at all, particularly Huntington Beach – go to the Donuttery. Freakin’ amazing.

  16. I love San Diego!!! If you can make it up to the Encinitas area, VG’s is awesome! Solana Beach has some fun food and shops too. Have fun, and enjoy the weather – much better than cold and rainy Boston I’m sure!

  17. I moved from Boston to San Diego in 1984 for grad school, and stayed in California (La Jolla, L.A., and now San Francisco). Can’t help with donuts, but glad to see you’re enjoying Peet’s!
