Hi, friends! Happy FRIDAY to you!

This week was so strange with two snow days right smack in the middle of it, so it totally doesn’t feel like Friday today. But, hey, I’m not complaining. I’m more than happy to spend some extra quality time with my boys. Although, we don’t have too many plans this weekend (besides the usual Saturday morning “gym day” and iced coffee/donuts), but, hopefully, that will change!

So, it’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time for the next edition of What I’m Loving Lately.

Gabe’s inspiring story – Gabe is a professional runner with Brooks as well as a cancer patient. She was first diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma in 2009. At times, she’s been so sick she couldn’t run at all, but she’s gone through periods of remission that allowed her to compete, even winning the 3,000-meter run at US Indoor Nationals in 2014. “Brave Like Gabe” has become the sign-off for Gabe’s story as a cancer patient and professional athlete, and she truly knows what it means to be brave. Read more about her story and how you can celebrate Gabe’s positive spirit and love of running.

Stunning Study Upsets a Big Diet Debate – Favoring whole foods may aid weight control much more than worrying about your diet’s fat-carb balance. Also interesting: “Neither diet group’s success at weight loss could be tied to their genetics or their insulin-response to sugar.”

All Dressed Potato Chips – My gosh, these are some of the tastiest potato chips I have ever eaten. They’re basically all of the best flavors in one chip – barbecue, sour cream and onion, salt and vinegar, and ketchup. The bag doesn’t last more than a few days in our house!

QuickBooks Self-Employed – Since it’s tax season and all, I figured I should give QuickBooks Self-Employed a shout-out since it saved the day once again! I absolutely hate doing our taxes, and it used to take Mal and me ALL day + follow-up days to put all of the different pieces together to give to our CPA. QuickBooks Self-Employed makes it SO EASY for you to track your income and categorize your expenses – it evens connects to your bank accounts and credit cards, so you don’t have to input any data. It also gives you “tasks” to do at the end of the year to make tax time that much easier. This year, we finished our taxes (to be sent to our CPA) in about an hour, which is a HUGE PR for us! If you’re a small business owner, I highly recommend checking it out.

Happy Baby pouches – We’re back on the pouch train! We’re still trying to get veggies into our picky eater’s diet, so we’re giving Qman pouches again. We like the ones from Happy Baby because they’re organic, non-GMO, and made from just fruits and veggies. Quinn likes them because the fruits and veggies are animals and he thinks it’s hilarious!

Stop dieting. Start keeping a food journal. CrossFit coach Stacie Tovar on why it works for her – I love her perspective about keeping a food journal!

Pork tenderloin – Pork tenderloin might just be the easiest thing ever to cook! I like pork, but we rarely ever have it at home. We got some pork tenderloin in our recent Butcher Box and cooking it up was so simple and so delicious – just rub on a spice blend and pop it in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Easy as that and it tasted so incredible! Pork might just become a new household favorite! 🙂

Glass straws – I’ve entered the world of xenoestrogens, so I’m playing a lot more attention to the plastic in my life, including the straws that I use to drink my morning iced coffee. I found some glass straws on Amazon, and I’m loving them. I used to use metal straws back in the day. Do you guys remember that?! I was obsessed. I really liked them and still think they’re a great option, but I was never quite sure if they were truly clean inside. With the glass straws, you can see if they’re clean! They’re made from Pyrex, so it would take a lot to break them – and they’re dishwasher-safe!

The Best St. Patty’s Day Cocktail – A delicious way to celebrate the holiday!

“Charlie Bucket” solid chocolate cat – Oh, guys. This is so sad. My mom had to put down her sweet cat “Charlie Bucket” on Monday. My aunt, who makes chocolate, went with her as support, so I wanted to give her Charlie Bucket solid chocolate cat (named after my mom’s cat) a shout out, especially since Easter is right around the corner and maybe there’s a cat lover in your life who would like it in their basket.

Why I don’t post nutrition facts for my recipes – Great post from Kate Scarlata!

Question of the Day

Have you ever tried ” all dressed” potato chips?
