What I’m Loving Lately 100

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Hi, guys! Happy FRIDAY to you! Did this week fly by for anyone else? It was a bit of a whirlwind for me, but I’m not complaining. I’m glad that it’s just about over and done with. I missed my family more than usual this week, and I’m very much looking forward to some quality time with them. And, ok, a big glass of wine on the couch. So, it’s Friday and you know what that means! It’s time for the next edition of What I’m Loving Lately. Hey, we hit triple digits! 🙂 Enjoy!

Working Hands Hand Cream – My hands have been so dry this winter – much worse than previous years. Maybe I need to drink more water? More healthy fats? I also think the chalk at CrossFit does a number on my hands. Anyway, I started using Mal’s hand cream and it works wonders in just a couple of days!

The New Midlife Crisis – This article was spot on. It’s a little long, but definitely made me feel less crazy knowing other women my age are experiencing some of the same issues, stressors, and feelings.

The Low-FODMAP Diet Step by Step Kate Scarlata is an amazing dietitian, especially with regard to digestive issues – more so for IBS, but her work can definitely help IBD folks too. If you don’t follow her blog/newsletter and social media, make sure you do! She’s a wealth of information, and she just published a new cookbook. She recently sent me a copy (review and giveaway coming soon), and I love so many of the recipes already. I can’t wait to dive in more! 🙂

Natural Diet is Key to Preventing, Reversing Crohn’s in Children, Israeli Expert Says– A lot of interesting info in this piece, including: “we’re too focused on targeting the immune system instead of the bacteria which stimulates the immune system.”

New workout gear from Four Athletics – I’ve heard about their fitness apparel on a number of my favorite podcasts/blogs, so I was really excited to see what it was all about firsthand. Verdict: AMAZING! It’s high-quality, fits well, and super cute. I want their Rise-Up Leggings and Sol Tank Top in EVERY color. I can’t wait to order more and add to my collection! 🙂

Post Malone – Maybe I’m late to party with Post Malone, but his music is awesome. I’ve been listening non-stop lately. If you haven’t heard of him, definitely give him a whirl!

Play sand – This stuff is endless hours of fun! It’s definitely a new favorite in our house. Pro tip: Have your kiddo play with it on top of wax paper on a large baking sheet for easy clean up.

Fiber Is Good for You. Now Scientists May Know Why. – This was such an interesting article and all the more reason to FEED your gut!

Nike Sportswear Women’s Knit Jacket– This jacket is ON SALE FOR $67! People ask me all the time about it, so just had to share again. I often wear it during the warm-up at CrossFit, but I also like wearing it as an extra layer under my winter or rain coat. I’m also loving this Nike Tech Fleece Windrunner. It comes in 4 colors – super cute!

Lego Batman Stand Up Edible Cake Toppers– I’m not sure where Quinn got the idea, but he asked me if we could make cupcakes together. The kid doesn’t eat/like most foods, so when he asked to do some baking, I was allllll about it. I even ordered some Lego Batman Cake Toppers to make our baking activity even more fun. They were a huge hit and our cupcakes turned out great!

Question of the Day

What music are you loving lately?

Have you ever experienced a midlife crisis?

  1. Yay I love Four Athletics, too bad I live in the UK and have to pay exorbitant amount of shipping (and then 20% tax on top) to get my hands on them. I have the omni air leggings and they are the most comfortable leggings EVER. I have heard them compared to the Lululemon Aligns 🙂 you should definitely give them a go too.

  2. I love Kate Scarlata, need to get my hands on that books asap! I’ve been eating quite healthy for quite a while now, but if you’re like me and love a little treat every once in a while and them freakin’ cinnamon rolls stick to your thighs and belly, you gotta work out a bit too! 😀

  3. I’m not sure if you take Fish oil… but my skin has been super dry this winter as well and it’s helped my skin in major ways! like WOAH!

  4. The New MidLife Crisis article was a really good read, can relate to a lot of it – particularly the stress/exhaustion/career/money bits. Thanks for posting!

  5. that working hands lotion is THE BEST! my mom bought it for us all a few christmas’ ago, and its all i use in the winter on my hands.

  6. I haven’t experienced a mid-life crisis, but I’ve definitely experienced my quarter-life crisis, and it was such a slap in the face, it got its own tab on my blog. Hahah. Mostly because I’m just like HOW IS THIS HAPPENING, but also because I want other women my age to know they aren’t alone and it gets better. I started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel this past July, so it’s only up from here!

  7. Oh man my hands have been so dry too and I’m in NC. I can’t imagine how bad they’d be if I still lived up north. Is it weird that I want play sand? I don’t have kids. haha!
