I’m Lovin’ It

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Happy Hump Day! Here’s a fun, little post. What I am lovin’ lately:

Group Buys

Groupon, Eversave, BuyWithMe, Living Social… I love them all. I probably buy too many of them, but I can’t help it. I love a good deal! I also love massages, which is what I spend most of my money on. I don’t think I’ve paid full price for a massage since I signed up for all of these different deals. I always use them, so it’s worth it in the end, right? Plus, massages are good for the mind, body, and soul!

Last night, thanks to Eversave, I enjoyed a 60-minute massage for just $40! It was soooo nice!

The Beatles

In junior high, I was obsessed with The Beatles. It was the only music I listened to for a solid two years straight. I still love The Beatles, but they fell off my rador for awhile.

A few weeks ago, American Idol had a special night where contestants sang songs from The Beatles. Ever since then, I’ve been listening to them on Grooveshark while I work during the day. The Beatles rule.

Oxygen Magazine

I love magazines. Love them. I usually stick to a few favorites, but, lately, I’ve been loving Oxygen Magazine. I thought it was just a body building magazine, but it’s really not. It has some great workouts and pretty good nutrition advice and recipes”” you just have to ignore all of the ads for supplements and stuff like that.

Paradice Ice Packs

These ice packs are awesome!! Here’s why: they’re soft and conform to your body, they don’t melt and make a mess, and you can wear them and still walk around the house, which is important for people like me who can’t sit still. I’ve been using mine after all of my long runs for my IT bands and hip, and it’s been helping a lot.

Soy-Glazed Fish

I’ve written about this recipe for Soy-Glazed Fish a number of times on CNC. It’s the best. It’s so easy to make, takes very little time to cook, tastes delicious, and provides healthy protein and omega-3’s. Once again, Mal and I ate it for dinner last night. Delish!

What are you lovin’ lately?

  1. I picked up a copy of Oxygen at the gym and agree that it did actually have a lot of useful info…but I found the ads for all those gross supplements to be too much of a turn-off. Maybe I’ll have to give it another try!

  2. That ice pack looks awesome, I’m going to have to try one. I’ve had knee pain since doing the Hustle Up the Hancock a couple weeks ago. I am loving almond milk right now.

  3. I’m loving lettuce wraps – I don’t care what’s inside, as long as it’s wrapped in crunchy, refreshing lettuce. I’m also loving re-reading the book Intuitive Eating for the millionth time, and the manfriend and I are loving watching In Treatment through Netflix.

  4. Wait, you can ice your hip with that thing? This I have to see! I usually just take a ice bath after a hard run, but I like the idea of icing just one area.

    1. I probably should have explained that, huh? I just stick it in my yoga pants on my hip. It’s soft and doesn’t melt, so it’s quite comfortable.

  5. I used to love Oxygen magazine but then it got repetitive after I read it for YEARS. But it is a good magazine for ideas on workouts and such.

And Groupon is my best friend. It’s what helps us try out a bunch of new places to eat that we otherwise wouldn’t convince ourselves to try with our budget.

    1. That’s awesome! I would’ve loved to take a Beatles class, although I already consider myself quite knowledgeable when it comes to that subject. 🙂 The Beatles are the best! And I’m a big fan of each one’s solo work, especially Paul McCartney. My blog name is an obscure Paul song title (However Absurd), and I’ve seen him in concert five times!

  6. I have been really loving fresh spinach lately! Oh and shamrock shakes… also green…. haha

That Abbey Road album cover is said to indicate the conspiracy theory that Paul was actually dead and that he was replaced by a lookalike. Paul isnt wearing shoes (British burial tradition) and he is out of step with the others, who are dressed for a funeral as a grave digger, mourner and pastor. Weird stuff. Love those Beatles!

  7. I just got my first massage last weekend through a deal from one of those sites and I loved it, so I know I’ll be doing it again.
Right now I am loving goat cheese!

  8. have you heard of or ever tried massage envy? the first hour long massage is $39 and then after that members get an hour long massage each month for $49–not too bad, even for this graduate student!

  9. I have become obsessed with Bethenny Frankel. One day I sat down and watched every single episode of Bethenny Getting Married and I just started on Bethenny Ever After. I totally want to be BFF’s with her. Haha!

  10. You should check out Wow.com. They have local Boston deals and there is usually a spa type service offered once a week.

  11. Hmmm….I’m lovin’ quinoa…made a pot on the weekend, and have used it during the week for breakfast, lunch and supper…super-easy when it’s pre-cooked!

  12. I LOVE the Beatles! Food and the Beatles are two of my absolute favorite things. Lately, though, I’ve really been into iced lattes! 🙂 Good idea for a post!

  13. I love the Beatles!

Beatles related story from Monday: One of my employees was doing a crossword puzzle and she asked me what Ringo’s last name is. I said “Starr…with two r’s.” She said, “Are you sure it isn’t Heart?” I said I was very sure and that his real name is Richard Starkey and when he joined the Beatles he took the stage name Ringo Starr.

Her response: “No…the last letter HAS to be ‘t’…see? 16 across is ‘common kitchen name’, which is ‘Betty Crocket’….”

    She’s only 19, so I forgave her. 😉

  14. *Always* the Beatles – made for a really wonderful and peaceful run outside this Sunday when the weather was warm. And I even stuck on Abbey Road too!

  15. I also love Groupon! I got a great deal yesterday on make-your-own granolas and bars! Can’t wait to use it! (I have to wait until tomorrow)

I am also obsessed with pomegranate infused Craisins right now! I have a huge sweet tooth and these are definitely fullfilling my sweets needs when I crave it at night! I have ice cream that I haven’t even opened yet…this is very odd for me. The Craisins are all I want!

  16. I love Oxygen, too. It’s a great magazine even if the supplements aren’t for you, yes, they have great fitness and recipe tidbits and some little gems along the way!

    Your massage….oh I need one!! What a score$$

I am loving the warm-ish 70s and sunny San Diego weather!

  17. Oh if you are a Beatles fan you should go see LOVE, the Beatles Cirque du Soleil Las Vegas show! I wasn’t a huge Beatles fan before the show, but I am now!

Right now I am loving the Daily Mile (random, I know). I found about about it through your blog (a guest post I believe), and it’s really pushed me to get back into my work out routine and out of my rut!

  18. I’m loving making experimental pancakes with gluten free flours – peanut flour, coconut flour, garbanzo bean flour, quinoa flour mmmm. Also loving mixing cereals – a fun and slightly sweet cereal paired with a lighter bulkifying cereal.

  19. I love Groupon/Living Social too. I was wary at first but friends were doing it and I saw how it worked…now my bf and I use it a lot. Whenever there’s a good restaurant Groupon we snatch it. It makes eating out much more affordable!

  20. I definitely love Oxygen – great workout ideas, especially weight training exercises

Right now I’m also loving sandwiches and homemade soup 🙂

  21. I love my library card. I read about three books a week. No lie. I get very bored at work and can only read blogs for so long before I get bored. I’d be lost without my library card.

I’m also loving Top Chef All-Stars. I’ll be so sad when the season’s over. Oh and Holly’s World because I’m the only a-hole that watches that show.

  22. Oh man, I went through a Beatles phase like that too. Best music ever. I think my favorite album is Rubber Soul.

Didn’t you think the Anthology that came out in the 90s was fascinating?
