An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

The food blogger dinner at Tavolo last night was such a great time, but I definitely enjoyed one too many glasses of white wine. I skipped the gym and woke up so thirsty this morning! Ugh. I chugged a glass of water then immediately poured myself an iced cold glass of homemade iced coffee. Just what I needed.

IMG_3324 I was rather indecisive when it came to breakfast this morning. I wasn’t really in the mood for anything in particular, but I knew that I should eat something since I wouldn’t have time later. I finally decided on a tried-and-true breakfast: banana oats with peanut butter.

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • 1/4 cup low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 banana
  • 2 scoops Might Maple PB

Blogger Photography Tip

At the dinner last night (post coming soon!), a fellow blogger gave me the best tip for snapping photos in dim lighting: Use the flash, but back up and zoom into your plate before snapping a photo. Works great! In my opinion, photos look best without a flash, but this trick worked like a charm given the “mood lighting” of restaurant last night.

What’s the best tip you have ever received? (In regard to just about anything. Feel free to be random! πŸ˜‰ )



  1. Great question! I would have to say that changing the water to cold at the end of a shower really makes my hair shiny and makes me feel super refreshed and “glowing” πŸ™‚

  2. Best tip I’ve ever received is to slow down when I’m running. I remember when I first started, I would zoom, zoom, zoom out the door, thinking I should be running as fast as possible.

    It actually took someone telling me that I should slow down and see how I feel. Lets just say it saved me from burning myself out. I think that’s when I first actually started loving to run because it started to feel more natural. πŸ˜€

  3. My tip is very generic, but it made me see through the fog: Simply to quit caring what others think of myself. One can never be truly who they are if they care what others think about them too much.

  4. My dad’s tip: “Trust no one.” haha. It sounds harsh…but it has proven to be true OH so many times.

    I need to try that Mighty Maple PB–you have been loving it lately!

  5. Living with balance is definitely some good advice. What did you think of Tavolo? I love Chris Douglass’ other places, Ashmont and Icarus :(, but have not been thrilled with Tavolo when I have been.

    I’m going to try that camera tip. The pictures I take of my cupcakes never come out right…granted, I am usually too lazy to use the actual camera and just take them with my blackberry, which explains a lot.

  7. Best tip I ever received is not to worry about the stuff you can’t control…I just have to try to remember that!

    Question: What do you put in your iced coffee? Anything special?

  8. A great tip I have been told was about my swimming technique… slow down!! I would swim full force and never be able to go far because I was being so inefficient. Slower strokes and kicks is much more conservative of energy and your body will float just fine! Works like a charm.

  9. Wow, thanks for the tip about the flash and the mood lighting!!

    Tip: Add lemon to your iced water to help with bloating and water retention. This really helps me when I have eaten too much salt or after I lift weights.

  10. Where do you get your bowls/plates from?? I absolutely love them! I need to get some pretty kitchenware in my life so people stop having to stare at boring bowls!

    Best tip: to take care of myself and make it a priority, because no one else will.

    I think the best tip I’ve gotten lately is to use blotting sheets- neutrogena makes them and they have def helped clear up my acne/clogged pore prone forehead!

  14. Tip: No one else notices your perceived “flaws” as much as you do, so stop worrying about them so much!

  15. Best tip: “Live in day tight compartments” meaning don’t carry things with you into the next day. Deal with what is going on and move on. Tough to do, but really makes sense.

  16. “Beer before liquor, never been sicker. Liquor before beer, you’re in the clear.” (I don’t drink beer actually but this was the most random “tip” I could think of.

  17. The best tip I’ve ever received was a photo tip, and it was to breathe out as you press the shutter button. Up until that point in time I would hold my breath and it would make my pictures blurry.
