My morning started like many mornings: I woke up, fed Murphy, and started to make breakfast. I put on a pot of oat bran with chopped dates, pecans, chia seeds, and frozen blueberries in the mix. While it cooked on the stovetop, I grabbed some ice from the freezer, put it in a glass, and reached for the iced coffee in the refrigerator. Sadly, I soon discovered that we were all out. 🙁
Breakfast
I added my oat bran to an empty jar of peanut butter for OIAJ. Mal and I really plowed through peanut butter this week”” although we had a little help from Monica and Chandra too! I ate my OIAJ with a bottle of water instead of iced coffee.
Mal finished off the last of the iced coffee, so he put on a pot of hot coffee for me. At first, hot coffee seemed okay to me. It was a nice change from my usual routine. But, then, I decided that I really wanted iced coffee, and I didn’t want to wait for the hot coffee to get cold. I had a coupon for a free coffee from Marylou’s, so I decided to cash it in this morning.
But, first I went to the gym. I figured if I was going out to get iced coffee, I might as well get in a quick workout at the gym. Plus, Marylou’s is on the way home. I’m all about efficiency! 😉
Workout
At the gym, I ran on the treadmill and did the workout below. I ran for 35 minutes and covered 3.8 miles. It was quick, dirty, and over before I knew it. I love workouts like that!
After the gym, I popped into Marylou’s for my free iced coffee. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the coupon closely because it was only good for free a hot coffee. Bummer! I tried to finagle an iced coffee, but it didn’t work. I was still happy to come home with a free Creamy Caramel coffee.
My coffee is chilling in the freezer right now. Pretty soon it’ll become the delicious iced coffee I’ve been waiting for all morning!
Snack
I guess my breakfast didn’t hold me over well because, just now, I reheated some leftover roasted brussels sprouts from last night as a mid-morning snack.
Share Your Breakfast
A reader recently shared a NY Times article with me about a program that Kellogg’s is currently running. For each breakfast photo that is submitted to their website, they will donate a meal to a child in need. Did you know that 1 in 4 kids in the US live in homes where food isn’t always available? That’s a crazy statistic, huh?
For those of you who already take photos of your breakfast for your blogs, I hope you consider submiting them to the website. I already uploaded a photo of my breakfast this morning!
