The thought of an ice cold beer was pretty much the only thing that keep me pushing through my work today. It’s a beautiful day (sunny and warm!), so I knew sipping a beer on the sun porch with my feet up at the end of the day would be the perfect reward for a hard day’s work. It’s funny how a cold brew can motivate me! š
I spent the morning frantically working and crossing items off my To Do list. Things were going fairly well until I received a request for a 800-1,000 article due āas soon as possible,āĀ which put me over the edge. Instead of freaking out, I grabbed my yogaĀ mat andĀ headed to aĀ class. I needed some deep breathing in a bad way.
So, I tried out a new-ish studio at the Derby Street Shoppes called Dancing Crow Yoga.
Of course, I had a Groupon for it.
I took an hour-long Vinyasa class, which left me in a much better place than when I entered the studio. I really needed that time to chill out. It’s amazing what yoga can do for my mental health.
Lunch
When I got home from yoga, I made myself lunch. In one bowl, I had reheatedĀ someĀ leftover noodles from Lime Leaf. In the other bowl, combined plain Stonyfield yogurt with sliced strawberries and raisin bran.
It was a good lunch– lots of flavors and textures.
Snack
As an afternoon snack, I ate two spoonfuls of sunflower butterĀ straight from the jar. Mmm! Sunflower butter is delicious! I especially loved the consistency– smooth with lots of sunflower seed chunks in it. It was also a nice change from my usual repertoire of nut butters.
Apparently, pugs like sunflower butter too? Murphy went, um, nuts over it!
It’s definitely time to crack that beer! It tastes to good when it hits your lips!

I can’t get over how cute your pug is! I have a puggle and I am now convinced that pugs/puggles are pretty much the cutest creatures alive. Does yours snort? Mine does and I die with laughter every time š
@Rachel: Yep!
Mmmm, there’s nothing like an ice cold beer after a day of hard work! Good for you for treating yourself. And right on for drinking an IPA. š That’s my favorite! I love hops!
I absolutely love your black fuzzy jacket! Do ya mind if I ask where ya got it? I live in Washington State we wont be wearing it at the same place:)
@Sandi: REI. It’s Columbia brand. It’s actually the liner of my ski coat.
thank you!!!!
I have yet to try sunflower butter….must change this soon, looks so yummy! Glad you are kicking back with a cold beer š
Noodles excluded, I love eating breakfasty foods for lunch!
If its one thing I’ve picked up from reading your blogs its that fast food is so not necessary when you’re crunched for time. Now I just go to my pantry or fridge and find stuff to eat. Doesn’t have to be a big ole’ meal, or something that takes forever to make. Your lunch is a perfect example of how I eat now(sometimes)..yummy and nutritious without a big deal.
@Daisey: Exactly! š I’m actually not much of a cook, so I like meals that are quick and easy.
At around mile 8 during my first (and only) half marathon, ALL I could think about was an ice cold pint of beer and a plate of chips liberally doused with vinegar. I’m pretty sure that’s what got me through the last 5 miles! š
@Hats @ See How She Runs: Ha! Yep, running and beer go hand-in-hand for me! š
I usually drink wine but sometimes I just crave an ice cold beer. Especially on warm nights… love the action shot of Murphy about to go to town on that spoon of sunflower butter!!
couldn’t have said it better
Haha…Murphy is such a ham. He always makes me laugh. š
I just bought a bottle of sunflower butter and it’s so delicious. š
Murphy is just too cute, I can’t get enough of that adorable little pug face! I’m glad that yoga left you feeling refreshed!
That’s quite the tongue, Murphy! Ha! Your dog is so cute and funny. But you knew that already.
Would you recommend Dancing Crow Yoga? I’d love to find a new yoga studio when I’m down on the South Shore š Thanks!
@Maura: I’ve only been to one class, but the studio is REALLY nice! It’s like the Healthworks of yoga!
Way to go on not freaking out and just going to yoga instead! It sounds like you needed it. š
Beer is one of my favorite motivations for um, everything š
Tina, I am the broker for Sunbutter… you have written a few times about how much you like it. please let me know if you want samples or to do a giveaway!
I’ve been trying to run more both more days per week and one longer run per week. I keep hoping that this will get easier, that something will finally click and I’ll feel strong and fast. So far it hasn’t. I was wondering when running “clicked” for you, and what you do on those days when four miles seems like an eternity?
@Tania: Good question! I’m not really sure, but there are lots of days that running four miles (or less even) feels like an eternity for me. I guess my best advice is to remember that running is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it! Also, starting out really slow on my first mile seems to help my body warm up, so I don’t feel like I am going to die for the next few miles. If I’m really hurting, I’ll stop and walk for a little bit. Just keep trucking, lady!!
Apparently beer is more hydrating than water after a long run!
I’m all over that….
That would definitely motivate me to get some work done! I love trying local brews. š Did you like the Berkshire IPA?
@Alaina: Eh, I didn’t LOVE it, but it was good.
Do you have any close up pics of your wedding ring?
I just looked thru your wedding recap posts but didn’t see any.
I swear we might have the same ring and band!!
