Good morning! Happy Monday!
Remember my I Bet You Didn’t Know posts? If you missed them, here are the three I’ve written so far:
I love these kinds of posts because I get to share some fun things with you guys, so with further ado, here’s the next edition of I Bet You Didn’t Know!
I bet you didn’t knowā¦
I played the flute from the time I was in 4th grade until the first trimester of my freshman year of college. I actually told my flute story on CNC once in the past, but long story short, I enjoyed drinking beer more than playing the flute.
In the summer of 2003, a psychic at Old Orchard Beach in Maine told me I’d marry someone from my past and reconnect with them that November. My second first date with Mal was on November 28, 2003. Creepy-crazy, right?
I’m weirdly obsessed with short nails. As soon as mine start to grow, I immediately cut them off. I just don’t like the feel of long nails.
I’ve never mowed the lawn. Growing up, my grandfather always mowed the lawn at our house and now Mal takes care of it. I know, I should be ashamed.
In addition to my sister, who you’ve seen on CNC a number of times in the past, I also have a step-sister, half-sister, and a half-brother. Growing up, they lived with my dad, so my sister and I only saw them on the weekends and holidays. Now, they’re all grown up and have their own kids, but we haven’t kept in touch much over the years.
Breakfast
I finally have my kitchen back in order, so I whipped up My Favorite Pancake for breakfast this morning. I added a tablespoon of ground flaxseed meal to the batter and then topped my pancake with strawberries and sunflower butter. I also drank an iced coffee with almond-coconut milk.

Question of the Day
Have you ever been to a psychic? What’d you think? What did they tell you?Ā
P.S. I’m totally obsessed with these Coconut Almond CookiesĀ (Paleo-friendly and just 4 ingredients). I already want to bake another batch!

Great post, I love those!
I haven’t personally been to a psychic but my grandpa’s wife went to one after my grandpa passed and supposedly was spot on about a few things but other things were way off. It’s not that I don’t believe, I just don’t want to mess with stuff like that.
That’s how I feel. I’m afraid I’d hear bad news.
wow that’s crazy about the psychic– I’ve never been but have always been slightly curious!!
also I definitely agree w/ you about short nails… though the manicurists always shake their head in disapproval when they see my stubby nails, I just hate long nails!!
Haha! Same! It always makes me feel a little self-conscious of my short nails!
I have been to a psychic, and as much as I’d love for there to be some crazy-cool story about it, there wasn’t. Kind of a bummer. Maybe I should try it again?!?!
I went to another psychic after the one in OOB, and it was a total bummer. The guy didn’t tell me anything specific. It was all pretty generic info and a total waste of money.
What road race are you doing on Saturday? I was looking for a 5k this weekend!
I’ll email ya! š
I have NEVER mowed the lawn either…don’t be ashamed :). I never plan on it either! Very very interesting about the psychic, maybe it is time I pay one a visit š
Long nails are _the worst_!
Whenever I get a manicure the nail technician looks at me like I’m defective. Although, it’s kind of fun to throw off peoples’ expectations–like when my fiancĆĀ© and I picked out our wedding cake and told the baker that they could just surprise us with whatever design and colors they wanted:-)
Long nails are _the worst_!
Whenever I get my nails done the nail technician always looks at me like I’m a defective girl!

I’m weirdly obsessed with short nails too! Good thing I’m not the only
one.. Occasionally manicurists complain about the small space they have to work with!
Breakfast looks delicious as always!!! I’ve never been to a physic cause I’m too afraid! For some reason it totally freaks me out and I’m worried what they’re going to tell me!
sooo crazy about the psychic being right!! I’ve never seen one, but that kinda makes me wanna go to and see what they say.
I’ve been to a tarot-card reader, but never an actual psychic. I really, really want to go to one sometime!
I can’t stand long nails either – short nails look so much better painted! haha
I can’t stand having long nails either! I am happy when there are no white showing at any time, but no matter what I will never chew them offā¦I can’t stand the rough, jagged feeling.
I like to keep my nails short too, when they get long I feel like they break easily and they look better with polish when they aren’t long! I’ve never been to a psychic but that’s crazy how it worked out!
What 5k are you running this weekend? I would totally be up for a 5k since the Camp Harborview 5k was postponed last week due to rain.
I stay far far away from psychics- I don’t want a stranger to tell me what my future has in store!
I’m obsessed with short nails, too! The thought of germs growing under long nails and the chance of them bending backwards if you grab something wrong just gives me the chills!
You should have Mal show you how to mow the lawn–mowing and yard work is a great workout and you never know when that type of know-how will come in handy. Last summer my partner tore his achilles and I was left doing pretty much everthing that required standing or walking (he could help fold laundry), but I was really glad that I knew how to mow the lawn or we would have had a hillbilly yard by the end of the summer.
i prefer short nails as well. my nails grow like crazy (i have to trim them weekly), but they really start to get in the way sometimes. i like the look of short painted nails as well. i think it’s very polished & classy!
These posts are fun! I’ve never been to a psychic but some of my friends have and have had interesting outcomes.
Very interesting post! Crazy about the psychic and Mal!
I also just LOVE these posts!
I have been to a psychic once and I am not sure I would go again. Out of the 4 girls that went, the psychic had the best vibe about me, as far as love and relationships. She actually told me that I was going to marry the guy I was dating at the time (Junior in College) and unfortunately, he passed away in a car accicdent a few months later. I realize it was just an unfortunate situation and surely do not blame the psychic for being wrong but I am just not sure I would want to ever go again!
I’ve always been out afraid to go to a psychic! But I do agree with you about short nails!
booze> flute
always š
Haha! š
LOVE that pancake recipe! I’ve been marathon training (and blogging about it! http://www.dontstopleftfootrightfoot.blogspot.com/) and those pancakes are literally the best recovery food. They hold me over all morning while I’m at work.
I went to a psychic once a long time ago (just the $10 ones at the state fair) and wrote down everything she told me so I could go back and read it a few years later……..but now I have NO IDEA where the paper is! I probably threw it out when I was moving or something. So I guess I’ll never know if she was right about anything. Haha. Very cool (and freaky) story about how spot on she was with you and Mal though.
Now I want to go to a psychic! Haha that’s so crazy that what she told you was true! You should hunt her down and get some more insight!
I saw a tarrot card reader (totally just for the heck of it) in college. And she told me that I would meet “the one” the following summer. Lo and behold, I met my husband that next year and we started dating in the summertime. Coincidence, probably – but it’s fun to think that “it was in the cards.” š
with you on the short nails
What a fun idea for a post :). That is absolutely crazy about the psychic. I too hatee long nails, glad to know I’m not the only one!
Have a great Monday!
Fun post!!!! We have a lot in common! I played the flute starting in 4th grade, have crazy short nails, and I haven’t mowed the lawn either (shh, don’t tell!). That’s pretty fun about the psychic-I’ve never been to one but think it would be neat.
I also hate long nails – they gross me out!! Short is so much more practical
fun post, and great pic of you and Mal!
Are you doing a local race this weekend? I am looking for a local 5k to run, need to keep my running in check for my Oct 10k…..
(I know that seems far away but the more local 5k will keep my excitement for races up!)
Oh, and the whole psychic thing, yes, I went to one. I was dating someone at the time (for over 4 yrs) and she told me I would meet a tall, dark haired, blue eye man that had to do with the law. Since my mother always told us ‘never marry a cop’ (My uncle was a cop and saw what they went through), I just wrote it off.
Fast forward 6 months, I met my husband, who worked for a law firm!
I have never mowed a lawn either…there has always been someone else around to do it š
I played the flute til Freshman year of High School (then I switched to drumline).
I’m also the same way about long nails. Can’t stand them. And that is too funny about the psychic reading!!
How funny! I’m really obsessed with my nails staying short too, I don’t know why I don’t like ’em long! Maybe b/c I feel like they get dirty underneath way too easily? And it’s cool getting to know more about your background~like your family and stuff. š thanks for sharing!
I’m with you on the whole never-mowing-the-law thing. I am the same way. My dad always did it when I lived with my parents, and now my husband does it. š
Just so you don’t feel like you are too crazy, I have never mowed the lawn a day in my life. My parents just bought TJ a lawn mower for his birthday and I didn’t even know lawn mowers took oil. Once I thought about it, it made sense (I mean it does have a motor and needs gas. haha) but I know nothing when it comes to mowing lawns. And, shhh….don’t tell anyone, but I don’t really have a desire to mow the lawn. lol
I always mow the lawn and let my husband do other yardwork, we have a pretty heavy pushmower so it is a great workout!
Such a fun post! I’ve never mowed the lawn either!
Haha, I also have not mowed the lawn AND I had a weird experience with a palm reader which she correctly predicted my upcoming break up (that I did not initiate or really know was happening haha). I think I’ll be just letting life unfold from now on haha
I went to a psychic in the winter of 2010. She told me that I’d meet the man I was going to marry in early 2011. I met my boyfriend early that May and we started dating that October. Still going strong and talking about marriage, so… maybe?
My hubby & I have worked out a deal, I clean the inside of the house and he does the outside (yard work). I don’t think his clean is the same as mine, so I’d rather live in a clean home…and do no yard work!
I played the flute for about 5 minutes in 4th grade. I was TERRIBLE!
I went to a psychic once and they told me I would be rich and marry young. I will be 25 when I get married, and I am CERTAINLY not rich. It was a fun experience though!
I HATE long nails! Once I decided to let them grow out just for fun and couldn’t get used to them. I would stare at them, scratch them on something, stare at them some more….It was just so strange! I’m not a nail-biter by any means but I definetly prefer my short nails. I think its much more hygenic too since not as much dirt and germs get under them.
Really Cool post! Thanks for sharing!!
I played the trombone for a 3 years and I still have no idea how I was talked into that. It was never something that I actually enjoyed.
As far as psychics I am too scared to go there, I feel like I would be asking for bad karma but I do love to hear what others learn from them!
You and Mal are so stinkin’ cute. Just had to share that. We used to go to Old Orchard all the time growing up! It felt like a far way from Vermont then! Also, I always laugh when friends from Jersey confess that they’ve never pumped gas – I think that trumps mowing the lawn š Let Mal cover that one!
Aww, thanks! š
I need a psychic to tell me when I’m going to meet my future hubbie! Psychics are intriguing… and they scare the crap outta me!
