Good morning!
Murphy wanted me to share his dog breakfast on the blog this morning. Looks delicious, doesn’t it? š
(Yes, my dog eats off of a plate… and a Christmas placemat.)
For breakfast, Murphy ate 1 cup of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul (puppy variety) and a bowl of water from the kitchen sink. Best breakfast ever! He scarfs it down every morning!
Ok, time for the human breakfast!
Good morning, Mal!
(Poor Mal. He’s such a good sport about me subjecting him to early-morning blog photos.)
For breakfast this morning, I made Mal and me a big batch of apple-cinnamon-raisin-brown sugar oatmeal to share.
In the mix:
- 1 cup oats
- 1 cup vanilla soy milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 apple, diced
- 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Raisins
- Cinnamon
The key to apples in oatmeal is cooking them before you add the oats. I cut up the apples, add them to the pot along with some water/milk, and then sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar on top. I let them cook for about 3-5 minutes before adding the oats, water, soy milk, raisins, etc. The apples come out soft and sweet!
I also had a glass of iced coffee with breakfast.

awww murphy and mal are so handsome!! even in the morning š
does peanut butter count as a condiment haha. i love kethcup too – i douse my potatoes, squash fries, veggie burgers etc all in like a 1/2 ketchup
Hot sauce, the hotter the better!!
I love apples in oatmeal š
I like honey mustard – though others have come up with some good ones – balsamic, greek yogurt, and hummus especially – not sure those quite count, but they are yummy.
I love my apple oatmeal – it makes it so much more filling.
Favorite condiments: BBQ sauce and honey. Not together, obviously. Both versatile and good on may things!
Is peanut butter a condiment? Then that’s my fave!
I think guacamole and honey mustard would be tied for my favorite condiment…
Sriracha hot sauce!
I love spicy mayo (like in spicy sushi rolls) but I make my own “healthy” version. I mix a few tablespoons of mayonnaise made with canola or olive oil (tastes like regular mayo but like, 1/3 of the fat and calories) and then i mix in hot sauce and some cayenne pepper. I can’t say it’s exactly how they make it at the sushi place, but I find it even more delicious! It’s great on sandwiches, etc.
hahaha I love murphy’s breakfast..looks great! š My favorite condiment is KETCHUPPPPPPP!
what a great promo…i’ll be visiting open sky today š
Your hubby really is a good sport. Mine doesn’t LOVE pics, but he is a pretty decent sport too. I’ve never tried my luck in the morning though. š
Hot sauce would have to be my favorite condiment for sure.
mustard!!! or most recently, hummus! (the spicy kind)
Thanks for the tip on apples in oatmeal! When I make oatmeal with apples I guess I don’t cook it right, because the apples are always too crunchy!
That looks like some good oatmeal!
I tihnk i would prefer your oatmeal over the dog food
ketchup all the way.
i lurveee condiments. ketchup, ranch, bbq, hot sauce…the list goes on!
thanks for the great deals opensky & cnc!
Ketchup! I’m obsessed. I literally used to put it on every meat I ate as a child. My father would cringe as I doused my filet mignon in a ketchup and slapped it on some wild salmon. Eww I know. But I loved it and still love – just not to that crazy extent anymore.
Frank’s Hot sauce
Mustard! I love a grainy country dijon style with lots of kick!
I am addicted to mustard but HATE ketchup! I sub mustard everywhere ketchup would be used instead. People often think it’s weird š
bbq sauce and mustard!
Murphy is so cute š
The chicken soup books make pet food?
Salsa!!
That is TOO cute that Murphy eats off a plate!
My favorite condiment is ketchup! I haven’t found anything that ketchup doesn’t make taste better! haha!
I am in love with Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo sauce. No other buffalo sauce will do!
What do you think about Brown winning Kennedy’s seat? No worries if you don’t want to get into political discussions on your blog š
Salsa for me goes on everything. I love the salty chunkiness of it.
KETCHUP!!!

My favorite condiment is buffalo sauce. I put it on everything!
Aww, Murphy is so cute!
Just ordered my .99 cent bottle of Mild BBQ sauce!! Can’t wait to try it š
You guys are the only other people I’ve come across with a dog named Murphy.
i’m not a huge condiment person, but i do like a good grainy mustard!
I love condiments! My fave is spicy honey mustard. I will literally sometimes eat things that go with mustard because I want the mustard.
My favourite condiment is grainy mustard…. actually mustard in general!
Without question, my favorite condiment is Sriracha – you could put this stuff on tree bark and it would taste good!
