Look what came in the mail this afternoon: our new personalized Christmas stockings! Hooray! How adorable are these?!?

On Cyber Monday, these Christmas stockings were on sale at Pottery Barn with free shipping, so I bit the bullet and purchased them. (FYI: I just checked and they’re still on sale!)

Mal and Murphy have matching stockings since they’re both boys and love the color green, but Murphy’s is pug-size. How cute is that?

What’s your Christmas stocking look like?

My childhood Christmas stocking is green with a cat on it and Mal’s is an electrical tape masterpiece

Lunch

Today’s lunch was a mix of goodies: a grilled Vegetable Masala Burger with BBQ sauce, some kale chips.

And Garlic Gold-roasted chickpeas.

To make the chickpeas: toss chickpeas with olive oil, sprinkle with Garlic Gold (or garlic powder), and bake in oven for 15-20 minutes on 425*F, mixing occasionally.

Snack

My afternoon snack was really something SPECIAL today!

Remember when I was losing my hair like crazy because of an iron deficiency? Well, I’m better now, but I bought some frozen mango chunks awhile back since mango has both iron and vitamin C and these two nutrients work together for better iron absorption. Long story short, I’ve been looking for new ways (besides smoothies) to incorporate mango into my diet””and I came up with a delicious, protein-packed Mango Pudding today. Check it out!

Protein-Packed Mango Pudding

Ingredients:

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender until smooth or slightly smooth. (I liked the tiny chunks of mango in mine!)

Makes 2 servings

Holy yum. This stuff is thick and creamy with a slightly sweet mango-vanilla flavor. It’s delicious, nutritious, and so satisfying. Try this one! Trust me, you’ll love it!

Workout

I split my workout into two parts today: Murphy and I went for a 2-mile walk this afternoon, and then Mal and I are going to CrossFit tonight. I think we’re going to sign up! Woohoo!

Snack

My second snack of the day was a banana spread with peanut butter. I sliced it up and ate it with a fork. Much less messy.

P.S. Have you guys seen this dog video yet? A Twitter friend showed it to me, and I’ve watched it at least a dozen times since. It’s hilarious!!!

    That yogurt mix sounds delicious! I LOVE mango so I’m sure it’d be a winner in my book. That’s awesome it’s so packed with protein too, just what I need!

  3. LOVE the stockings. (our cat has her own kitty sized stocking too). Years ago (ok, decades ago actually) my Grandma knitted my brother and I Christmas stockings. When she first made it I was about 3 or 4, could put my leg in it and it came almost all the way up. I’m in my forties now, it comes up MAYBE mid calf, it’s tattered, it’s worn, but I pull it out every year. Those memories are what Christmas is all about to me. I may have to ask Santa to bring me mango pudding this year! 🙂 Have a great day.

  6. I like your stockings. Ours are maroon, but I would really love some purple or silver ones. My tree is decorated with purple and silver ornaments. I love purple!

  7. Please do some research before you sign up for CrossFit. It’s widely accepted in the strength and conditioning field that CrossFit is mediocre at best, idiotic and harmful at worst. For the most part, Crossfit programming has no rhyme or reason, no progressive overload, and no individualization. Not to mention the total lack of proper coaching. Strength coaches should actually teach their clients how to perform compound movements correctly and not injure themselves in the process. Do Crossfit coaches make their clients work hard? Of course! But priding yourself on your ability to make your clients puke is far from impressive.

    If you’re really serious about becoming a personal trainer and fitness professional, you need to reconsider joining the Crossfit cult. And I’ve done some of that research for you:

    1. I’m really happy with the coaches and their credentials at my CrossFit so far, but thank you for the info! I’ll be sure to check out those links and see what critiques they give CrossFit. I actually read that Men’s Health article when it came out.

  8. Love the stockings! We actually got ours from Pottery Barn for Kids. They have quilted stockings with different things on them, and then they had sparkly letter ornaments, so I tied each of our corresponding letter ornaments to each of our stockings. Mine is an angel, my fiance’s is a snowman and the pup’s is a reindeer. I really love them!

  9. I saw the cutest stockings at PetSmart that had actual doggie paws on them. too adorable. I like Murphy’s little stocking, though! I wish that I had a fire place to hang stockings on.

  10. STOCKINGS! my mom make all four of us kids personalized stockings. they must all be at least 25 years old, but they’re adorable. felt, and stitched, and all with a different wintery theme. most of them are still hung on the mantle at my parents’ house. i am a sucker for traditions.

  11. I love that dog video. I saw it about 6 months ago and have probably watched it 20 times. Still makes me laugh.

    Do the burgers have wheat in them? They look yummy.

    I love mango as well. Will have to try that smoothie. I am addicted to flax seeds but have been meaning to try chia as I think it has some benefits that flax does not and vice versa so I think I will eat both. Been meaning to try hemp as that is supposed to be even healthier but I still can’t get past the idea that it will taste bad.

  12. ahhh! I read your blog daily, but somehow missed the post about the iron deficiency. I have been losing more hair than usual. It’s starting to go back to normal but I think it is caused from a lack of iron and iodine. What supplements did you doc suggest?
    I was taking Kelp, but read that it can cause hypothyroidism and I don’t want to mess around with my body too much.

  14. Growing up, I never had a Christmas stocking…. I had a Christmas PILLOWCASE 😀

    Now, I have nothing. Initially I felt kind of sad about this… but then I realised: My presents do not need to be confined to any space requirements. That’s gotta be a good thing 😉

  15. I love those stockings! I am dying for new ones – all ours are all mismatched.
    Growing up we had stockings that my great grandma knitted. I still have mine and will probably give it to my kids one day.

    My next door neighbor made me and my brother and sister our stockings. They have little buttons sewn on them, and there are little stitches of words across the stocking. I don’t think any of us could bare to replace them, even though we’re all grown up…haha. 😀

    Your lunch looks fab! I’ve totally forgotten about roasting chickpeas. They make such a great snack.
