Hi, friends! Happy Monday!

Let’s kick things off with a little High Low High from the weekend!

Having lunch and catching up with Lauren at Flour!

It was so nice to see her!

Lunch was delicious, and I bought a few cookies to take home with me, which were incredible. Holy yum! Now I really want one (or both) of the Flour cookbooks!

I got into a little fender bender in my new car. 😥  Of course, I’m glad no one was hurt and the damage can easily be fixed, but I’m still wicked bummed. I had my beloved Camry for 9 years and didn’t get into a single accident, but then I have my new Forester for 2.5 months, and I do. Uggggghhhhh. So bummed.

Getting together with friends on Saturday night for drinks, apps, basketball, and fun!

Steak & Cheese Egg Rolls from Main Street = incredible!

Breakfast on Sunday morning! Mal made us hash browns with bacon and eggs, which was so, so, so good!

My bracket blowing up when Wichita lost.

Watching Mal and Murphy put together the baby’s crib.

Of course, the pug always needs to help.

It was a fun game for awhile”¦

Saved by Dad!

Questions of the Day

How was your weekend?

Did you fill out a bracket for March Madness? Who do you have winning the whole thing?

Have you ever been in an accident with a new car?

Do you own either of the Flour cookbooks? Should I buy one of them?

  1. I had Syracuse winning the whole thing, so my bracket was busted too! Still hoping UVA makes it into the Final Four, though!

  2. I bought my best friend the latest flour cookbook for her bday and she said it’s AMAZING. There are some savory recipes in the cookbook as well. Have you ever been to Myers and Chang, which is her and her husbands asian restaurant. Sooooo amazing. Anyways, the latest cookbook has her recipe for hot n sour soup which is ridiculous! In a good way 🙂

    1. I love Myers and Chang! They used to have this Blind Date option where you don’t order from the menu and they surprise you with all sorts of fun courses. I need to go back ASAP!

  3. Hey Tina! Sorry about the accident!! Last year was a HORRIBLE year for me with cars. I got into two accidents in 6 months and totaled both brand new cars (one my fault, one not my fault). I said 2014 was the year of no accidents!

  4. So fun that you got to get together with Lauren for lunch! Sorry to hear about your fender bender, but you’re right, at least no one got injured. I totally get that it’s still a major bummer though. Getting the nursery ready was SO fun for Cody and me. It was crazy to think that in just a few months I’d be holding little Hunter while I was sitting in the rocking chair. 🙂

    1. I sat in our chair and thought about the same thing! And then, of course, I practiced with my pug baby. I swear, he loves it! 🙂

  5. I usually always fill out a bracket but this year I didn’t. I just never got around to it. We have that same rug you have in the nursery in our living room. We love it! Sorry about the fender bender, but it looks like you had a great week!

  6. Ugghh…sorry to hear about the fender bender. BUT at least everyone is okay! Glad you got to have some Saturday night fun, I swear pregnancy was so much easier than being a new momma..lol. We used to do date nights and now it takes lots of prep work to have a date night. Oh well, our little man is so worth it!

  7. Within 2 weeks of getting my new car, someone hit it while it was parked and dented my bumper :(. Didn’t leave any note or information, so I had to pay to fix it! Womp womp. I guess it’s just one of those things that happens in life!

  8. I have been in a fender bender with a new car! It was such a bummer. It’ll be fixed and you won’t even remember it in a couple months.

  9. I’m sorry about your fender bender and I’m glad no one was hurt! Accidents are normally nerve-rattling but I bet it’s even more scary being pregnant and in an accident. I can completely understand the feeling of having an accident in a new car, though. I also had my Camry for a long time (10 years) with no accidents, and 3 months after getting my new car last year, I was parking and hit a stationary, bright green pole! I was really disappointed, but he got fixed and is good as new! 🙂

  10. Ugh, so sorry about the fender bender! This past winter, I drove too close to a parking lot wall which inevitably scraped off the paint from the back side of my car. I was totally bummed and went to get a price quote on the repair. Turned out it would have cost me $900, which was totally NOT worth it to me!! I’ve gotten used to seeing the touch up job that I did myself. 😉

(p.s. Murphy is adorable in the crib! Haha!)

  11. Sorry about the fender bender. I know how you feel. I had my last car (used) for 10 years not a ding but 3 weeks ago was hit in my new (less the 2 years old) car. No one was hurt but it was enough damage that it had to be towed. Ugh! my new car. Glad everyone is okay.

  12. Murphy in the crib is way too cute! Cannot wait to see pics of him and baby. You definitely need to buy one of the Flour cookbooks. Those cookies look yum! I had a huge Asian chicken salad at my local fav Wildflower. I need to recreate this pronto.

  13. “LOW: My bracket blowing up when Wichita lost.”

I live in Wichita, KS ~ ~ that was my low also when we lost. 🙁 We had an incredible season ~ and that was one heck of a game!! Go SHOX!!

  14. My bracket was busted when Creighton (my winner) lost, very badly, to Baylor.

But my Tennessee Vols are in the Sweet Sixteen!! Time to just cheer for more good games, a few upsets, UT, and the Big 10!!

  15. Oh Tina, I am born and raised from Wichita and the whole city was rooting for them to go all the way! I think we’re all in a state of grief today…:-(

  16. My weekend had it’s high-low-highs, too!

I don’t do basketball. I guess I didn’t grow up with it, and in college it was all about the football (fooseball?). But I always wanted to try doing a bracket, if that’s what it’s called 🙂

  17. Gotta love productive weekends!

My bracket is still doing alright. Final Four still in it. I have Arizona winning it all, but I’m secretly rooting for my Cyclones!

  18. Car accidents are a great way to ruin the day! My favorite Nissan Versa was demolished in an accident not too long ago-it sucks 😛 (I have to share cars now)

  19. Sorry about the fender bender! My previous car was a Camry and I never had a wreck. I traded it in for a Rav4 and I have had two wrecks and just replaced the windshield. Glad you weren’t hurt!
I also picked Wichita State to win it all so I was disappointed when they lost. Of course since this is the tournament of upsets my bracket was shot in the first round!

  20. Tina, this is crazy. I stole your idea for high low high weekend recap for my blog, but I didn’t expect our weekends to be so much alike! I got in a car accident as well this weekend. Everyone is okay over here as well! But it definitely shook things up and provided a low for my otherwise wondeful weekend. haha 🙂

  21. A couple of months after getting our brand new car a rock hit our windshield while driving on the highway and cracked the glass. Luckily our dealer was able to replace the windshield and our insurance covered the whole thing!

  22. I have one of the Flour cookbooks (didn’t know there is more than one!) and I use it for fancy cakes, cookies and muffins. I do find the recipes a little labor intensive. They cut no corners in terms of ingredients so there’s lots of butter, creme fraiche, etc, but everything I’ve made is SO delicious. I pull it out for special occasions and am never disappointed.

  23. OMG those egg rolls look incredible, holy yum!! I hadn’t had a new car in 10+ years and when I got my brand new Chevy Equinox I was thrilled. On its 1 month birthday I got rear-ended!!! It SUCKED, so I SO feel your pain. I love Murphy helping with the crib and Mal saving him 🙂 too cute!

  24. Ugh! So sorry about the car accident! That’s the worst! On the bright side, a little nick or scratch may not feel quite as awful now.
Yes, my husband’s bracket is mostly busted, but I’m guessing so are his colleagues’ brackets, so it’s a matter of whose got busted the least.

  25. My weekend was so great, but short! I love the high low high format for this post. I think it’s a great way to show off the good/bad of your week.

Sorry about your fender bender. That’s never good, but it happens. It could have been worse, right? 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

  26. We’re from Iowa and are big ISU fans so I’m happy to see you have them in the championship game 🙂 However, I have to admit I was confused when I read “Iowa” (since in this state it’s either Iowa or Iowa State). I’ll still take your vote though 🙂

Do you love the Forester? My husband wants an Outback and I want a Forester (b/c I think the Outback looks like a station wagon), but he thinks it’s too small. I’ll be curious to see what you think once you have the car seat in there.

I’m glad to see the crib being assembled in the nursery. We don’t have human children, but a friend’s husband put theirs together in the living room and then they could not get it through the nursery doorway 🙂 haha. Live and learn!

      1. Just chiming is as we have a 2013 Outback…
I personally do not love the newer Outbacks. We do appreciate it b/c it’s the most reliable car we’ve ever owned -it’s the first car we’ve had that wasn’t a hand-me-down beater from our parents 🙂 – but compared to older Outbacks that I have driven, it’s kind of, well, lame! Looks wise, I think it’s a bit ugly, but that’s not a big deal. The main thing that bugs me is that there is SOOOOO much leg room for passengers, and not nearly enough room in the back cargo. My last car was a Blazer, and my boyfriends last car was a wagon, both of them had WAY more space in the back but were barely bigger overall than the new Outback. As we are both short and don’t spend much time driving extremely tall friends around, we’d prefer have the space in the back cargo area. I drove an older Outback with a smaller blueprint as a nanny, and had no problem fitting in two car-seats in the back, so unless you have tall friends, I find the roomier passenger area to be unnecessary. Just my opinion, of course!

  27. Hi Tina,
Just wanted to let you know Ellen Tweeted out for new moms to be to write in for Mothers Day show! Would love for you to get to go!

  28. SUCH a bummer about the fender bender — so glad you’re OK. I feel like that always happens with shiny new cars. Thank goodness baby H wasn’t here (well I guess he kind of was. . . ha)!

  29. My bracket also blew up, I had Villanova winning. And I haven’t been in accident with a new car, but I just got a new Pilot and have a love dent in the back. So hard when you have something nice and new and you want to keep it that way for as long as possible. Glad you’re okay and no one was hurt! Love your high/low posts!

  30. Oh sorry about the fender bender! But it looks like the highs made up for it–yummmmy food!

We have the same crib for little miss L–but it’s the darker brown. We love it! I suggest getting pottery barns’ soft fitted sheets–she loves the comfiness of it, and it fits perfect to the crib!

  31. Ugh, the exact thing happened to me when I got my new car!! I had never been in an accident and a few months after I got my new car, a teenager rear-ended me in the snow. No one was hurt and my car looks great after they got it fixed, but it still just broke my heart!!
