It’s 51 degrees outside! The sun is shining. The snow is melting. It feels like spring! Hooray! 😎

Check out the perfect heart that dried onto the front walkway of our house. How appropriate for Valentine’s Day!



Mid-morning, my stomach started to grumble, so I whipped up a batch of roasted broccoli with Garlic Gold and olive oil. It held off my hunger until lunchtime, no problem.

Before lunch, I hit the gym for a quickie workout. I ran for 30 minutes on the treadmill and did this workout. I thought about running some more, but I just wasn’t feeling it. Instead, I finished my workout with 15 minutes on the elliptical.


For lunch, I whipped up a Blueberry-Quinoa smoothie, which was delicious, nutritious, and incredibly satisfying.

In the mix:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1.25 cups Almond Breeze
  • 1/3 cup cooked quinoa
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powderΒ 
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed meal

I have to admit that I’m rocking the smoothie recipes lately. Who knew I was such a skilled smoothie maker? Check out these recent concoctions:


A couple of hours later, I made myself a little treat: a whole wheat English muffin with peanut butter and butterscotch chips on top. <3

I’m making Mal a special Valentine’s Day dinner tonight, so I need to get cracking on the preparations. Plus, the house needs a serious cleaning.

  1. I love how your muffin has every square inch covered w/ PB and Butterscotch chips! I adore both PB and Butterscotch chips…and I stuff medjool dates with them. I need to use the spreading/pushing in technique like you did πŸ™‚

  2. Isn’t it pathetic that 50 degrees feels like summer now! I was looking at all the melting around our house this morning, and hoping some day we might see grass again!

  3. It’s starting to finally melt in Philly and spring is just around the corner! My pug has actually gotten miffed because he doesn’t have as much snow to “melt” when he’s out for his daily constitutionals. Never thought to use quinoa in a smoothie – what a great idea!

  4. I seriously want some butterscotch chips now. I don’t know if I could keep them in the house without ravaging through them in a day. πŸ˜‰

  5. Woah! I’d never think to put quinoa in a smoothie! It was 56-60 here today too I was driving around with my windows down haha :D. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be a chilly 25* though, also. Boooooo. I’ll take the warm weather when I can though!

  6. I’m glad I’m not the only one to get so excited over the coming of spring – we’ve got crocuses almost coming up and I was taking pictures everywhere at the weekend!
