Good morning! :mrgreen: How’d ya sleep?

I need to be at NuVal early this morning, so I’m going to whiz right through breakfast. Hope ya don’t mind! 😉

Breakfast

I started my day with two toasted Souped-Up Banana Muffins with peanut butter spread on top. Baked goods for breakfast during the work week are such a special treat.

I drank a hot cup of Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea with my breakfast.

After M & M woke up, I took Little M out to do his business. (I was going to make a joke about Big M here, but I’ll keep it to myself! :lol:)

When I returned, I made myself the most amazing iced latte with non-fat milk, agave nectar, and cinnamon.

  1. Those muffins look incredible. Fast food to me is McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, KFC, etc. Obviously there are unhealthy things are every restaurant, and even DD and Starbucks. I don’t eat fast food very often, maybe a few times a year. If I go to Starbucks or DD, I normally get a non-fat beverage and rarely a treat. But sometimes! The toffee bars at Starbucks are amazing so once in a while I’ll allow myself one of those.

  2. yummy muffins! I definitely think fast food are all the burger joints, taco bells, long john silvers, starbucks, dunks, and even panera. It’s all fast food and you have to be careful about what you order at all these places. The food is riddled with sodium and calories etc. But you can still eat at these places…as long as you know what to order…or of course if you’re treating yourself 😉

  3. hmm, good question, what constitutes as fast food? i guess i dont think of coffee places as ff but then i never get food there. i dont like sbucks food for some reason. i always think of ff as burgers and fries.

  4. Love the muffins! I HATE fast food, we never eat it. I consider any drive thru fast food…I don’t even like going to restaurant chains. We don’t eat out a lot because we love to cook and meals at home are more nutritious and cheaper. If we do eat out it is usually for sushi or one of our favorite local places.

  5. I like the taste of fast food, until it’s digested. Then I feel sick and greasy, besides realizing what I just did to my body. So, I’ve learned to stay away. I like Panera’s coffee but really, their breakfast food is not healthy. The bagels are way too big (I typically can’t leave half or even part of something left on my plate). I tried Tim Horton’s new B.E.L.T. a few weeks ago, it was decent, but again, sat in my stomach like a rock for hours. I don’t like that feeling. If anything, I get coffee and a banana to hold me over until I can find something better.

  7. How do you make your iced coffees so frothy? They look incredibly delicious and better than Starbucks or DD!

    I view any restaurant that has a drive through as fast food pretty much, though that system doesn’t always work. I almost never eat fast food simply because it makes me feel just overall gross and not good. BUT there are exceptions. I love Starbucks and McDonald’s Mcflurries are to die for.. but I try to limit those treats.

  8. Hey Tina! Great question! I lived off of Del Taco, Carl’s Jr. and Mc Donalds and In-n-Out in high school. College was where I started to have a clue about healthier food, but I took it to the extreme and my eating was alternately unbalanced (very healthy or very unhealthy) for years. Nowadays I have a much healthier perspective – my “fast foods” are take-out Thai food, Indian buffets or Pizza. These are my most common weekend indulgences, but I try to eat clean, homemade foods during my work week.

  9. I don’t each much fast food, but if I do, I try to get stuff that’s from local places – i.e., not chains, and ones that use local food. Everything always tastes better!

  10. I think i’ll make those muffins tonight…my ripe bananas are calling my name! I’m not a big fast food eater…mostly because I am picky and am always asking places to omit this or that and add this, so i just end up being an annoying pain! However, I do love Starbucks perfect oatmeal! And, I like panera breads meditteranean veggie sandwich! I’ve never really considered takeout pizza ‘fast food’, since you don’t normally order a pizza and eat it in the car…but, i guess it is! If thats the case…I love it!

    And fast food to me is anything with a drive through really…
    I rarely eat it though. It is hard to hit up McDonalds when you are a vegetarian! But semi-fast food? I love Panera Bread! And Starbucks!

  12. I condsider places like McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s etc. fast food. I know Panera and such can be just as bad for you, which is why I always try to make smart choices there by checking out the nutritional stats on the website beforehand. With a little research those places can be a lot healthier (and a lot tastier in my opinion!)

  13. I rarely eat fast food. I don’t really consider Starbucks or Panera “fast food” because there are plenty of easy-to-find options. I consider fast food to be a place that has a menu consisting primarily of processed burgers, fries, and other variations of nutritionally vacant garbage.

    I do, however, treat myself to In N’ Out Burger once a year when I visit California!

  14. Fast food is anything that you have to wait in line to order! Some chains like Dunkins and Subway make it easy to identify the healthy choices but with places like McDonalds or Burger King it can be tricky because the “healthy options” usually aren’t that fresh and leave me wanting more. Since I don’t eat fast food too often, I just order one thing I really want (if I get the cheeseburger then no french fries or vice versa)and enjoy the indulgence.

    For some reason, I don’t count Panera as fast food (since they offer healthier options) but truthfully – everything I buy from a place like that should be considered fast food because they aren’t always using the best of ingredients – regardless of calories.

  16. I don’t consider Panera, DD, Starbucks etc. fast food. I just consider McDonalds, Wendys, Taco Bell, Burger King etc. fast food!

  17. Hey Tina! i found your blog about a week ago and i just love to read it! hahaits inspires me to eat healthy, not to lose weight tho. i have a question about the muffin, could i use honey instead of agave nectar? cause i don’t think i’ll find it. Thanks! 😀

  18. For some reason I only consider places like McDonalds, Burger King, etc. to be fast food. I look at Chipotle, Starbucks, Panera, etc. as quick, healthier options.

  19. I occasionally do Panera, Subway or Willy’s (like Chipotle) but don’t really ever partake in the hamburger chain fast food places. My fiance, on the other hand, loves it.

  20. I think of fast food as any food that requires minimal cooking before being served. If it takes less than 5 minutes, it’s fast food.

    Because of my job, I often eat on the run and fast food is my only option. I try to go to Subway, but sometimes, I’ve only got 5 minutes for the drive-through.

  21. Fast food is anything to me that you can get in under 10 minutes. I rarely eay fast food just because I think I can make it better and I would rather go to a nice resturaunt and splurge!

  22. I think that anything that isn’t ‘sit down’ is fast food. I can’t remember the last night I actually went INSIDE a McDonald’s or Burger King and if I do eat there it is always through the drive-thru. I try to not have fast food that often because it sucks for your health and your budget. I generally allow myself Subway once every two weeks.

  23. How did you make that amazing drink?! Looks SO amazing. I LOVE Dunkin Donuts iced coffee, the closest one is too far away although I heard it’s free coffee Wednesday so I may have to! Chik-fil-a is my go-to fast food place, their grilled chicken sandwich is served on a whole wheat bun and only packs 270 calories! With a side salad, and italian light dressing the stats aren’t bad at all. I think researching places ahead of time and keeping a list of meals that work is a great tool to have for those times when you are left in a bind!

  24. Fast food for me is like Subway, Panera, etc. I don’t really do the burger or taco joints because I find them rather gnarly (plus I’m vegan now). That food just makes me feel like crap so why bother?

  25. I have been looking for that darn sugar cookie sleighride tea EVERYWHERE! No-go at Stop and Shop, Shaw’s, TJ’s, Whole Foods etc. I settled on some Celestial Seasonings called Nutcracker Sweet which is black tea with vanilla and cinnamon flavors. It’s pretty good but still hoping to one day find that sugar cookie!

  26. These are great and healthy food! Thanks for sharing. Fast food is another term for processed food which are often unhealthy. By the way, I’m a member of a great group who are health enthusiasts that might interest you too. Enjoy life to the fullest!
