My day included many of the things that make me really happy: friends, dogs, cheese, cupcakes, and beer. (Yes, three out of five of them are food.) I have no complaints about today.
The Pony Bar has a rotating selection of twenty American craft beers on tap. Today, they featured a bunch of Ithaca beers, and all of their beers cost just $5.
The Pony Bar doesn’t offer table service, so Theodora and I ordered our lunches at the bar along with a couple of beers. We both ordered Post Road Pumpkin Ales, which were really good– medium-bodied and not too pumpkin-y. (Post Road isn’t my favorite pumpkin beer, but I still like it a lot.)
Theodora and I grabbed a table, chatted, and enjoyed our beers. Before I knew it, my first beer came and went, and we were ordering a second round.
A solid hour passed before I noticed that I never received the sandwich that I ordered, so I told the bartender. She was really apologetic, and a little while later, a very cheesy grilled cheese sandwich was delivered to me.
It was well worth the wait. Holy cheese!
Inside were grilled tomatoes”¦ and more cheese.
After lunch, we headed back to Theodora‘s apartment to discuss our plans for the evening.
Theodora got a Red Velvet cupcake, and I got a Yellow Daisy cupcake (yellow cake with vanilla frosting). We agreed that the frosting tasted amazing, but the cake was a tad dry. Even still, it tasted great and made me happy.
The plan for the rest of the evening is watching a movie and going to bed. I’m going to sleep like a baby.
