If a pug can be green, how hard can it be? I love this video! It’s super cute. The dog lovers will especially enjoy it!

Breakfast

There’s hardly any food in our house right now, so I winged it with breakfast this morning. I mixed a packet of instant oatmeal with oat bran and cereal, and then added a scoop of peanut butter. Good enough.

Workout

After breakfast, I went to Body Pump with Mal. He’s off from school this week, so it was nice to have some company atΒ classΒ this morning. And guess who we bumped into at the gym? Dave and Marie!! They took the class too! It was just like old times!

After Body Pump, the four of us went to Starbucks for free iced coffees. To celebrate Earth Day, Starbucks is giving away coffee if you use a reusable mug. Sweet!

We ended up sitting at Starbucks for awhile and chatting about our summer plans. Somehow, the four of us already have packed schedules”” all fun stuff, but we’re going to be busy! How does that always happen!?!

Lunch

When I got home, I threw together a quick lunch from the freezer: a Sweet Potato Pancake with barbeque sauce for dipping. On the side: peas and black eyed peas, sprinkled with flax oil and grated Parmesan cheese.

I satisfied my sweet tooth with two Adora disks dipped into peanut butter. They tasted just like a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and I met my daily requirements for calcium!

I let the pug lick the peanut butter off of my fingers. He was psyched.

The Green Dress

Woah. I had no idea my green dress would be such a hit, especially since I’ve worn it a few times in the past. Thanks so much for all of the nice compliments!

To answer your questions, the dress is from either TJMaxx or Marshalls. I bought it last spring, so I can’t remember. Sorry! The brand is Max Studio, size small, and I think I paid $20 for it.

  1. Not celebrating Earth Day…it’s good Friday…so I celebrated at Church! And technology has definitely helped me lose weight…I get countless weight-loss/healthy eating emails, and read tons of healthy-living blogs daily!

  2. I will be celebrating Earth Day by having a 1/2 day at work because of Good Friday! A gym sesh, some grocery shopping (hey I will use reusable bags) πŸ˜‰

    Technology is SO helpful to maintain a heahtly and balanced lifestyle (Hello? BLOGGING!). Also I used to use a calorie counter app on my iPhone which was a blessing and a curse. I kicked that sucker to the curb once I realized that calories are not nearly as important as keeping clean/whole foods in your body!

  3. I solely credit technology with helping me lose my weight (specifically, the blog that I started TO lose weight.) I’ve started a gajillion diets in the past only to have them fail miserably, but this one has really stuck (not that I really like calling it a “diet” anymore, but you know what I mean.) Thank heaven for this awesome community of healthy living bloggers that inspired me to start my own!

  4. no offense but I just dont see the point of posting the size of your dress… i feel like some things bloggers share lead others to compare themselves to the blogger. Its fine and all that you share fitness tips and what not… but do we need to know the sizes of your clothes? how does that help anyone?

  5. I’m trying to get creative in the kitchen today – by not going out grocery shopping and trying to use up what is in our pantry for dinner tonight. Plus, I’ll be announcing my Earth Dinner giveaway winner on my blog later today!

    Earth Day is actually a really important reminder that we can all be a little greener. Ways I contribute to a happier planet on a daily basis are being a vegetarian and not owning a car. This weekend, to celebrate I’m crossing my fingers for a long bike ride (weather cooperating) instead of using electricity and water at the gym.

    I find reading about other people’s health and fitness goals on blogs and forums keeps me motivated to stay on track with my own. Meanwhile, writing about it keeps me accountable.

  9. Today I am thinking about ways I can change my habits every day to help be a little more green!

    And, I think technology has helped. It’s nice to be able to track workout histories and find people in your area to work out with.

  10. Well I was one of the people who asked about the green dress — I really like it! I’ll have to check out that brand to see what else they have. But really, the green looks great on you!

    Technology has helped me — it gives me music when I run, I tracked everything on the weight watchers site (when I was losing weight), etc. I’m sure I could have done it without those things, but it sure made it easier!

  11. I credit the MyFitnessPal iPhone app with keeping me focused on calorie counting! It has pretty much everything I eat so it’s been awesome!

    I also love blogging. It’s awesome.

  13. I’m currently in the process of losing weight and technology is helping me out big time. Besides using my blog I’m also using some apps on my iPad to help me out.

  14. I work for Earth and Environmental Sciences at Northeastern, so I celebrate Earth Day EVERY day! Haha. But I did run 5 miles today for the first time ever, so I enjoyed Mother Earth plenty today!

    Technology has most definitely helped me lose weight. Without recording calories on the Daily Plate, there’s no way that I would have lost the 30 pounds I put on in college. Recording calories was my first step to weight loss. I still use it, but I’m less anal about it. But when I cook recipes it helps to record how much each portion is so that I know how much I should be eating.

  15. I’m celebrating Earth Day by eating loads of veggies, fruits, and whole grains AKA foods from the Earth. I’m also took a nice long walk and enjoyed the spring scenery.

  19. I am celebrating Earth Day by hauling in my big heavy recycling canister that I set out for recycling pickup. Well, I’d do that anyway πŸ™‚

  20. I LOVE Adora! However I’ve always learned in nutrition classes that your body can probably only absorb ~500mg of calcium at one time, so I usually take one Adora disc at two different meals each day. That way your body has a greater chance of absorbing all the calcium, and you get to spread out your chocolate treats!

  22. Hey Tina, I am an RD, and have been a long time follower of your blog. Love reading your posts with my lunch! I along with you love the chocolate calcium chews-I take Viactiv daily since I am not a big dairy person. I saw that you ate 2 Adoras at one time-Did you know that the calcium will be absorbed better if you break up the doses? So by taking one disc or chew at lunch and then another later in the day with food. Just wanted to give my two cents, have a great weekend!!

  23. I’m not really doing much to celebrate Earth Day.
    I think technology has helped me a lot in losing weight. I get so much inspiration from blogs. I also have my own blog, and even though it only has a handful of readers, it really does help to provide me with some accountability and outlet for my health/weight related thoughts.

  24. I really enjoy reading your blog, but I hated seeing that picture of all the water bottles. They are so environmentally unfriendly even if you are recycling them πŸ™
