Not me! My mom is a new homeowner!!!
She doesn’t get the keys to her new trailer until next week, so we peeked into the windows. Here’s my mom giving my sister a “tour” of the master bedroom! 😉
I’m so excited for my mom!! But, now she’s faced with the challenge of “downsizing” from a 2,000 square foot house (that has acquired 20+ years of stuff)Â to a trailer half the size.
This morning, my sister and I went to my mom’s house to take the crap things that we’ve left at her house over the years– like old textbooks, high school yearbooks, photo albums, random clothing, etc.
My sister and I filled an entire truck with our junk!! 😯
While going through the attic at my mom’s house, we stumbled upon lots of old school toys from our childhood. My sister and I got a kick out of seeing them after all of these years.
I remember thinking I was SO cool using this Popples lunchbox in elementary school!
Here’s my very first camera from Fisher Price! 😀
I was destined to be a blogger! 😉
We also found some really neat stuff– like my great grandfather’s porcelain license plate and a drinking glass from the 1981 Kentucky Derby that my mom attended.
Lunch/Dinner
I helped my mom for a few hours and then headed to my sister’s house for a late-lunch/early dinner. I was famished and immediately dug into the appetizers.
My sister’s guacamole was fabulous! She added black beans, red onion, and corn to the mix.
I also enjoyed my first pumpkin beer of the season! After running seven miles and helping my mom pack for a few hours, it tasted sooooo amazing!
My sister also made a rice bake with black and white beans, onion, and crumbled feta.
Delicious!
For dessert, I brought a bunch of Zucchini Chocolate Chip Cookies to share. Of course, I ate a few! 😉
While we ate, these two clowns played in the yard.
Eventually, they wore themselves out.
Pooped pug!
Mal and Murph are waiting to watch a movie with me. We’re chilling on the couch tonight.
Hope you had a nice Saturday!

I can’t wait to try the recipe for zucchini chocolate chip cookies. I too would love the recipe for the rice bake!
My mom did the accumulation “dump” a couple of months ago. She showed up with what felt like 27 years worth of my stuff and left it for me in boxes in my garage. I’m sure it felt freeing for her…overwhelming for me!
That rice bake looks delicious! Recipe?
Haha aww you and Murphy look so cute in that last picture!! Love dogs!
I am so jealous of your popples lunch box! I loved the popples.
Also, does the camera still work? Or does it need special 1980s film?
I had those SAME McDonald’s transformer toys. Talk about memory lane!
Thanks to all the CNC readers that congratulated me on my new home.
And Christine ! It’s not a TRAILER, it’s a mobile home!!!
Oh yeah and there’s still more stuff you forgot to take.
That rice bake looks amazing! I have an abundance of brown rice in my cabinet and have been looking for a big dish to make with it – rice bake is now on my menu for this week! Thanks. 🙂
My dad recently delivered all my old junk to me as well. He no longer wanted to store it all. And, I used to love the Popples – I had the sleeping bag. Sadly, I can’t even remember what the TV show was like.
Post Road Pumpkin is one of my favs. I need to get my hands on some asap.
Congrats to your mom!!!!
Oh my God, I had all those Mickey D’s toys, tons of My Little Ponies, the Popples lunchbox AND the camera. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Congrats to your mom on her new home!
