Goals for 2015

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Happy 2015, friends!

The start of a new year means: NEW GOALS! And you guys know how much I love setting goals for myself. I do it every year: I blog about my goals on CNC and then I check-in with myself halfway through the year and then again at the end of the year to see how things went. Setting goals helps me keep my eye on the prize and motivates me each and every day to work toward them.

That said, I’m so happy to be working with Kohls on their Make Your Move campaign in the new year. They’re all about moving more, stressing less, and eating and sleeping better. We all know these things are key to living well, so, in the coming weeks, I will blog about some of the things that energize, motivate, and bring me joy as I try to live a healthier and happier life in 2015””starting with my goals for the new year!

But, first, let’s see how I did with my goals for 2014!

Give birth to a healthy baby – Yes! Quinn is a happy, healthy baby, who is obsessed with Murphy and remote controls!

Have a fit pregnancy – Yes! I did CrossFit on a regular basis until I was 38 weeks pregnant (as well as heavy squats at 40 weeks, 6 days, which was the day before Quinn was born). I absolutely, 100% believe staying active throughout my pregnancy helped me bounce back so quickly!

Turn our guest room into the most adorable nursery ever – Yes! I don’t think I ever shared photos of the finished project, so here are a few!

Separate work and home – This was a constant work-in-progress during 2014, but (I think) I’ve finally figured it out””well, I pretty much had to with a baby! Quinn now goes to daycare two days a week while I work at home, which means I’m not blogging at 2:00 AM anymore. Hooray! Having a set time devoted to work every week definitely helps me feel more balanced with all of the various parts of my life, which ultimately makes me a better wife and mom.

Finish book #2 without having a mental breakdown – Yes! I actually don’t think I cried once during the book writing process! Haha!

Slow down; stop and smell the roses – Nope. Fail. BUT, I’m trying again with this goal in 2015.

My goals for 2015

Roll with it

I’m not sure how to describe this goal other than “roll with it,” but it goes along with my “slow down; stop and smell the roses” goal for 2014. Last year, was EASILY the hardest year of my life. (Remember: Blogs are like reality TV””you don’t see everything that happens.) I think God knew it was going to be a doozy-of-a-year, so He gave us Quinn to help us get through it, so, other than that little dude, it was a rough 12 months for the Haupert family. So, in 2015, I want to be more relaxed, balanced, positive, grateful, and just appreciate the little things in life. And, when the sh*t hits the fan, I just want to roll with it and play the cards that I’m dealt.

Run the Boston Marathon

This is my BIG fitness goal for the year. Stonyfield has given me such an amazing opportunity in running the Boston Marathon with their blogger team, and I am forever grateful and plan to train hard smart, so I can cross the finish line with a HUGE smile on my face. Go Team Stonyfield!!

I’m all about having the right gear to get me through my marathon training this winter, so I’ve been checking out what Kohls has to offer. (Did you know they sell a TON of workout clothes?!) Here are some of the pieces that I currently have my eye on!

Beat Kerrie at a WOD

My workout buddy Kerrie is a beast. She’s such an amazing athlete, and I want to beat her at a workout so badly””just one would make me happy! Haha! But, seriously, she’s a great friend and constant motivation for me to push myself when it comes to fitness.

Travel with Quinn

One thing that Mal and I miss quite a lot since having Quinn is traveling. Growing up, Mal traveled a ton with his family and has great memories from those adventures, so it’s definitely something we want to do with Quinn. Our goal is to take at least 3 family trips in 2015.

Drink more smoothies

Smoothies are such an easy and delicious way to add more nutrients to your diet. I love smoothies, but I only make them every once in awhile, so my goal is to make at least 2 each week.

Stop saying “like” so much

Monica and I chat on WhatsApp a few times a day, which made me realize just how much I say “like” when I talk to her. I find it super annoying, so it’s a habit that I really want to break, so, you know, I don’t sound like a ditsy valley girl when I talk. Haha!

Unsubscribe from five junk emails each week

My inbox is so darn stressful. A lot of the emails I receive are straight up junk, so I want to actively unsubscribe from some of them each week. My plan is to unsubscribe from five email lists every Monday morning before I start working.

Questions of the Day

What are your goals for 2015? How do you plan to “make your move” this year?

P.S. Love Kohls? Check them out on”¦

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Kohl’s.

  1. Love this goals!!! Especially the one about saying “like” too much. I have a horrible habit of saying “you know?” at the end of a lot of my sentences. In my head, I’m just checking in with the other person to make sure they are following my train of thought, but it’s been pointed out that it can get a little bit annoying! So I definitely need to work on that… you know? 🙂

  2. I recently saw the quote about not waiting for the storm to pass. I love it! So true and I remind myself all the time not to wish time to pass.

  3. I have already followed through on my resolution to clean up my inbox by unsubscribing from many e-mails, and it takes less time than I thought. For some accounts, unsubscribing only takes one click. For others, it takes three or maybe four.

For the less “junky” but never really important e-mails that I may on slower days want to take a look at, I use unrollme.com so that they are all grouped together. It’s easy to do, and it certainly helps clean up my inbox!

  4. I JUST bought some new workout gear from Kohl’s! The TekGear t-shirts are pretty great- they have a great shirttail-esque hemline (they’re longer in both the front and the back and raised a little on the sides) and they’re on sale right now for $9.99! I have some great Nike tshirts, but they have..erm – armpit sweat stains so these were a great replacement. I also bought a cute pair of TekGear capris and a fleece jacket (with awesome thumbholes). I bought a pair of Fila capris, but they were seriously more than 2″ smaller than the same size Adidas pants I bought and I couldn’t get them on so they got returned.

  5. Are You familiar with unrollme.com? It automatically goes through your email and tells you everything you’re subscribed to. Then you can check off what lists you want to unsubscribe from and it does it for you. It’s awesome!

  6. You should try Unroll.me to help you unsubscribe from anything! It is super easy. Caitlin HTP mentioned it a few weeks ago and I was shocked at how easy it was.

  7. You really opened up my eyes to the whole “a blog can be like a reality tv show & you don’t see everything that happens”!… You have been a huge motivator in fitness and choosing a healthy lifestyle, so for me to hear that last year was one of the worst years of your life is shocker since your blog is a positive place & brings me lots of joy when reading 🙂

  8. Hello Tina! I’m from Vancouver,BC,Canada & we have the same taste! We also have he same crib and dresser from Ikea! We are also big travellers and normally do at least 2 big trips a year. Since our little man was born at the end of August, we haven’t gone away since. I’m itching to travel and like how you set a goal to travel as a family. I didn’t travel much as a kid and want my son to experience the world. So, I too will set a goal to travel at least twice this year!

  9. I’m excited to hear how traveling with a baby goes. We love traveling too and that is one of my big fears is that we will have to stop when we have kids. People are always telling my husband and I that “you can’t do that with a kid” and so it will be SO nice to hear a different (more positive) perspective!

  10. Good luck Tina! I hope you reach your goals in earnest!! For what it’s worth, I have always admired your attitude toward adversity and your general outlook on life. I know we don’t know everything that’s going on, but you are genuinely inspiring, and your blog always puts a smile on my face when I read it. So, thank you for that!!! 🙂

  11. Hey! I just found you through Danielle at FitFluential. I am working with Kohl’s Q2 and wanted to let you know about a website that makes it easy to unsubscribe from newsletters and emails! Check out https://unroll.me/. It’s AMAZING! 🙂 I’m glad I was introduced to your website and can’t wait to read more!
