Gluten-Free Donuts on the South Shore

Hello from nap time! 🙂

Quinn told me he was “too tired to close his eyes” and then proceeded to pass out on the couch. Haha! I mean, that’s what happens when you wake up at 5:00 AM!

I woke up at 4:01 AM to work this morning, but I was sabotaged by a tiny human walking into my office an hour later. I tried to get Quinn back to bed because I know how the day goes if he gets up that early – plus, I woke up early to work! Unfortunately, getting him back to bed was unsuccessful, so we went downstairs and started our Quinn and Mumma day. I made a glass of celery juice while he played with Cozmo.

After that, we played with Quinn’s science experiment kit and then made “foam slime,” which is always a big hit!

Recipe below – it’s so easy to make!

While Quinn played, I cooked breakfast for the two of us. On the menu for me: Microwave steel cut oats (from Brandless) mixed with collagen, cinnamon, and Chocolate Donut Seasoning, which were delicious and super satisfying!

After breakfast, we headed to the gym. Quinn played while I did a (sort of lame) lifting workout on my own. I just wasn’t feeling it today. Oh, well…

After the gym, we headed to local bakery, which was rumored to have gluten-free donuts. Sadly, Baking with Joy didn’t sell gluten-free donuts, but they had some other treats, so Quinn and I shared a (pre-packaged) gluten-free carrot cake cupcake, which he actually picked out – probably because it was so pretty! 🙂

I just Googled the cupcake company, and they’re actually in Plymouth. No donuts (according to the website), but I’m glad to see there’s a gluten-free bakery not too far away!

FYI for the local folks: Baking with Joy is located in Rockland and, unless you live close, it’s not really worth the drive. The selection was just okay and the service was super weird/not great. They also pour hot coffee over ice to make iced coffee, which is one of my biggest pet peeves (in addition to littering), so I’m not sure we’d visit again. Just wanted to let you know. Our next stop is Whole Foods for gluten-free donut holes!

After that, we headed to Goldfish for Quinn’s weekly lesson. He was so happy in the pool today and earned a “I deserve an A+, I floated like an octopus!’ ribbon. He was so proud of himself! 🙂

After swim lessons, we headed home for lunch. On the menu for me: A “protein bowl” made with canned tuna (mixed with mayo and relish), arugula with Ranch dressing (also from Brandless), and sweet potatoes and onions cooked in the air fryer. Lunch came together in a matter of minutes, and it was so good! I love super easy meals like this!

Questions of the Day

What high-protein breakfast are you loving lately?

Any idea where I can get a gluten-free donut on the South Shore?

Anyone else hop on the celery juice train? (I know it’s SUCH a trend right now, but I’m feeling great and my skin has never looked better!)

  1. Too tired to close his eyes — too funny!

I was intrigued on what Chocolate Donut Seasoning was so I checked out the link. Unless I am totally reading this wrong — the prices seem outrageous to me (or at least how they present it) — or they make it seem that getting a super bargain by linking on the YTubers link. One bottle retails for 29.99 but now on sale for 9.99. Huh? The taco seasoning also 29.99 (the bottle is 5 ounces) for one bottle and you can get it at the now sale price of 9.99. Unless I am missing something. Regular price for 3 bottles of taco seasoning is 89.97. Come on that seems wayyyyyyy high. I think (IMO let me say) its another product that makes you think you are getting a great deal (like tootbrushes, hair straigteners) by taking advantage of a great deal. Hey, but that’s just me. I think the real deal is the money/perks the person with the link might be getting.

They would need to make me tacos for me to spend 89.97 on three bottles that are 6 ounces each.

    1. I’m so confused by the prices you are mentioning! Haha! The Donut Seasoning is $10, which I think is a totally reasonable price. You only use a little at time! 🙂

  3. sorry for the double post — the sale price is 9.99 — but the regular retail price says (not saying that is the price that they actually offer — might be one of those things that is always on sale — is 29.99. The 29.99 is crossed out and says sale price is 9.99.

    Have a great weekend.

  4. I just started celery juice and I’m excited to see what happens! Thanks for the inspiration! Curious as to when you started to see benefits? Also, how much celery do you go through in a week? I’m thinking I’m going to have to start stocking up!

  5. I am on the celery juice train!! How long did it take for you to see results!? I am only on my first week. Also wondering how much celery you buy each week? I think I need to stock up on more!

  6. Choo choo! I’ve been on the celery train about a month after my 4 month old’s PT recommended it for her colicky belly. Didn’t realize it was a thing until this last week. She recommended me boiling the leaves to make a tea. I must say the warm version is much better, kinda soupy? My PT said it came from a Mexico tradition, and it is believed to be part of the why we eat chicken noodle soup when we feel bad… cool right? My baby HAS actually improved. I can’t prove it, but I’m not stopping to compare

  7. I hopped on board over a month ago! But I go through SO much celery! Worth it though since I feel awesome 🙂 I go through two bags to get 16oz?! Is that normal or is it because I have a cheap juicer? 😉

    1. Yes, it’s because you have a cheap juicer! I had the exact same issue, and it took FOREVER to make enough juice. I upgraded to this juicer, and now the pulp comes out nearly DRY because it’s so efficient getting out the juice, and the whole process is a million times faster. It takes like 15 seconds to make 16 ounces of juice, and I only use one package of celery. It’s definitely worth the upgrade!

  8. Not south shore, but there is an awesome healthier (not sure if it’s totally 100% gluten free? but they definitely have a lot of gluten free/vegan options!) bakery in Providence called Augusta Street Kitchen. https://www.facebook.com/AUGUSTASTKITCHEN/ My husband and I always make a stop there if we are in the area! I highly recommend the GF blueberry donuts if you make the trip!
