Crazy, right? Times flies, especially when you are living one lonnnng day that never really seems to end. Hello, sleep deprivation! Haha! But, of course, this sweet boy is all worth it. I love him so much.

After breakfast, Mal and I took Q to the pediatrician for his one-month check-up. Everything went well, and the little dude is healthy and growing like a weed!

After Q’s appointment, we headed home and a short while later, my sister, Matthew, and my mom came over to hang out.

SNACK

I cracked open a bag of Sunshine Edamame Blend from my friends at CVS/pharmacy to share with my family.

Everyone loved it, and we polished off the bag in a matter of minutes!

The rest of the afternoon whizzed by””playing with Matthew while staying one step ahead of him (our house is totally baby-proofed now) and feeding/burping/changing Q totally consumed me. I can’t believe how quickly the hours passed!

Everyone wanted to say hello to Q! Haha!

Murphy is the best babysitter, and I love that he’s starting to get curious about Q. He actually wants to be around him now instead of peacing out whenever he cries.

Murphy even supervised “tummy time” this afternoon. He’s such a good big brother.

SNACK

Before I knew it, my family was heading home and my stomach was growling like crazy, so I broke into a bag of trail mix and practically ate the entire thing. I never ate lunch, so I was famished!

DINNER

After that, I did a few things around the house, took Murphy for a walk, and then made dinner, which was Trader Joe’s Tofu Edamame Nuggets with Sweet Potato Wedges and ketchup.

DESSERT

Toasted coconut almonds + dark chocolate chunks x 5. I was really digging the chocolate tonight!

Question of the Day

Do you tend to exercise more or less in the summer compared to the rest of the year?

  1. Your baby is so adorable and love that the pup is so into him.

I definitely workout more in the summer just because I love being outdoors and because after experiencing my first winter in the Midwest (crazy winter) I promised myself I would workout more outdoors whenever I could. It also seems I’m always looking for something new to try in the summer: this year is CrossFit. By the way thanks for all your Crossfit posts I’ve been reading and have learned a lot.

  2. I feel like I generally workout more or just as much in the summer, but this summer has not been the best for me. I don’t have a gym membership where I am living for the summer, and I also have a 5 month old. Both of these things together have impacted my workouts, but I am working on it 🙂 Even walking my baby girl is something 🙂

  3. I really need to try that edamame mix! Q is looking so much like Daddy in that first pic. It’s so fun having a newborn and although it kinda felt like eternity some days, it all feels like forever ago that my one year old was Q’s age. Murphy is going to be protective of that little guy!

  4. I definitely think I’m more motivated to heat myself up with a workout in the winter, but during the summer I try to focus on having more active days…walking around outside, playing games with the kiddos, going swimming, etc. So I think/hope it all sort of balances out in the end? Lol.

Q looks just like your hubby. Adorable. 🙂

  5. Holy mini Mal, right?! My little boy is a spitting image of his Daddy, and yesterday somebody finalllly said he looks like me! Time flies with a baby, it’s hard to believe how fast it goes! He’s a little cutie!

  6. Gym workouts are much less but we do so much more outdoors in the summer like hiking, kayaking, SUP, tennis etc that I feel it really balances out quite well. We visit the gym at least twice a week in the summer months but the remaining hours are outside having fun in the sun:)

You little guy is so darn cute:)

  7. I find myself working out more in the summer because the warm weather is motivating. I can jump on my bike, go on a walk or run, swim, or even garden. The winter is so cold here in Michigan that I find those months to be the biggest struggle.

  8. I think that I have fewer “actual” workouts during the summer, but I incorporate more natural workouts, like taking walks, running around in the yard with the dog… that kind of thing.

    Q is gorgeous, btw!

  9. I definitely do not have as many intense workouts in the summer as I do in the winter. During the summer I’d rather take my pup for walks instead of going for a sweaty run. (he’s too small to go for runs). But at 23 weeks pregnant and the convenience of having a treadmill at home, I’ve been trying to workout more this summer to stay in shape during pregnancy and for labor 🙂

p.s. Q gets cuter by the second! Can’t believe its been a month!

  10. I definitely work out more in summer, but maybe not in the traditional “workout” way. Rather than hitting the gym, I’m more likely to get outside for a long walk, hike, or jog. It does mean I’m a lot less likely to hit the weights though, because I usually do that right after cardio at the gym, but rarely go out of my way to do just weights.

  11. Q is a mini Mal!!! I dunno about your husband but my husband would give me so much crap about that haha “he looks more like me blah blah”

  12. He is so cute! He looks just like Mal.. figures we go thru all the pain and they end up looking like daddy..lol

  13. Murphy is such a good big brother, your boys are so cute!
I definitely am having a hard time getting in intense workouts this summer. It’s been so, so hot and humid, it’s hard to find any endurance for long distance runs.

  14. I think I work out the same in summer vs winter. In summer I go to the gym bc it’s air conditioned and I don’t have air conditioning in my house! But I’m more likely to take a longer walk with the pup before and after work vs in the winter when I nearly freeze to death after 5 minutes…
I’m moving back down south in a few weeks and I’m looking forward to having to change up my workout routine as I’ll be in a new place with a new schedule!

  15. Wow! That first picture of Q looks a lot like Mal!

And Murphy! He looks like a good supervisor!

I REALLY need to go to a CVS! All those trail mixes look soooo good!

I’d say I work out more during the summer – more long runs at least. It was unbelievable cold and snowy here this winter (hello -40 and almost 90″ of snow) and for soooo long that now I’ve been trying to spend a lot of time outside. We did have few over 90* days here that were incredibly humid so I went to my gym to run instead of outside.

  16. Q = mini Mal 🙂

So cute that Murph watches over him.

I’ve been adding my blueberries to my 2-ingredient pancake when I first put the pancake in the pan. ~ the heat makes the blueberries pop with flavor ~ oh so good.

  17. This post totally made me tear up. What an absolutely beautiful family. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us and Murphy and Q together is just a heart squeezer.

  18. I’m so happy Murphy has warmed up to Q! They are adorable together!

The summers here in Texas are hot and humid, so I definitely struggle to keep up with a good exercise routine in the summer. I’m going to do laps at the swimming pool today, so that’ll be fun and keep me from overheating. 🙂

    1. Good-ish. Haha! We’ve had a couple of tough days when he doesn’t sleep (overtired and wired), but the past two nights he’s ripped off 5-hour stretches. I hope he keeps it up!

  19. You and your sister have the same smile! Love how Murphy is adapting to his role as a big brother. 🙂

  20. Super cute family pic! I love the Murphy is superivising tummy time now. 🙂

I exercise more in the summer, but it is more sports and outdoor stuff. I run a lot in the spring and fall and play sports more in the summer. It is fun to have a break from running and mix things up!

  21. Q is ADORABLE!!!

I definitely work out more in the summer. Winter really affects my energy levels. Plus, outdoor running is way more fun than being stuck inside at the gym. I’m a baby about running in the snow and cold.

  22. Hi Tina,
Q is adorable, looks like his dad ! I tend to walk outside more in the summer, and not really work out inside the gym.

  23. Q is so cute! Do you ever just cry with joy when you see him interact with Mal or Murphy? I used to (and often still do) cry when my little guy interacts with his daddy or his big furry brother!

  24. awwww happy 1 Month to Q! He’s so cute!

I’d say I exercise the same amount during every season. I am a committed-to-exercise kinda gal, so the change in seasons doesn’t sway me at all to do more or less.

    That edmamae mix looks good!

  25. I spend much more time outdoors in the summer but I run early the morning because of the heat. In addition to lake swimming and playing with the dog. In the winter I do what I can outside before those single digit days either running or snowshoeing. (Then I hibernate). The CVS trail mix is great! Try the one with big chocolate chunks!
